Update on Volume 2's whereabouts!
Hello everyone! I hope this message finds you well! I just wanted to leave a quick update for the whereabouts of Volume 2 before I head off to parts unknown!
So, I did say that Volume 2 of My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! would release this month in my last entry, but unfortunately that’s simply not possible anymore. The biggest reason being that I’m actually moving in a few days and I want to be around when the sequel hits! Also, the cover isn’t finished just yet. Great artwork takes time and careful consideration, you know?
Now on the bright side: writing-wise, the 2nd volume is absolutely ready for release! I have read, formatted and proofread it several times over and even did so using text-to-speech as an assistant this time! The length is comparable to the original at over 61k words split into 5 chapters! In addition, I’m likely not going to have any internet access for a week or so due to circumstances being what they are, so there’s that too. With things as they currently stand, Volume 2 of Dense MC-kun is looking to release around next weekend (December 7th) and that’s if everything goes according to plan! The focus of the 2nd volume is the school life of MC-kun and Tomo. I really enjoyed writing this sequel and I hope that feeling is conveyed when it gets out there! I deeply apologize for the inconvenience if you wanted to read it this month, but sometimes these things happen. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
With that brief update out of the way, I want to thank everyone for your incredible support! October was the most successful month for this light novel series with the amazing new cover debuting and somehow November did even better! I’m very grateful that there are readers that enjoy this fluffy, but silly genderbender rom-com that my head conjured up years ago and I hope that you wonderful folks will stick with me for the rest of the journey! I’ve already started planning stuff out for Volume 3, you know? Volume 2 is on its way and I’ll let you know when it’s finally out!

Alright, we’re good to go! I apologize for being so inactive here, but I wasn’t kidding about wanting to give Volume 3 my 1000%! Quite some time has passed since the halfway marker was reached for the 3rd entry of my debut romantic comedy light novel series, My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! , right? Well, I’m pleased to announce that writing-wise, this volume should be finished in only a few days! Yahoo!
Despite this update, as already stated in the title: I do have some slightly disappointing news… Unfortunately, the release of Volume 3 will be pushed back to around late March to early April. Even if the story is completely readable as it currently sits, this is a very special episode of this beloved series and I absolutely have to do it right! I am truly sorry for this letdown, since I did suggest that it would quickly follow Volume 2’s release in the past, (both in the afterword and in a blog post) however things tend to not go as planned and you have my word that I will use this extra time to polish everything into perfection!
Now that we got that downer out of the way, I did say that I had a surprise update for you wonderful folks! Due to the continued success of this series and encouragement from readers who have enjoyed it thus far, I have decided to go through with something that I have been wanting to do since I first started writing these novels, but lacked the resources to execute at the time. Yes, thanks to everyone’s incredible support, Volume 3 of Dense MC-kun will be FULLY ILLUSTRATED (in black and white) with key scenes hand drawn by the talented official artist, Alice Vu! Hurray, it really feels like we’re a light novel now! You can expect at least 1 illustration per chapter and I will unfortunately have to bump up the price by a bit due to the costs of such detailed artwork, in addition to the fees for the increased file size of the book. On the bright side, Tomo and Dense Main Character-kun will finally be brought to life for all of the world to see! Wahoo! I’ve waited so long to make this happen, but it was only thanks to you wonderful readers that we were able to reach this amazing milestone! Thank you so very much for everything, I am truly grateful for your support!
Well, on top of the editing and polishing that needs to be done, you understand why it had to be delayed, yes? I really do apologize for the inconvenience, but this really is an important installment and it takes time and lots of tea to make every volume as enjoyable as possible! I won’t let you down!
As a result of this likely being my last post until around the time Volume 3 releases, I thought I’d leave you guys with some non-spoiling tidbits about this upcoming episode!
• It is the longest volume in the series thus far. Usually I aim to make each novel around 60k words, however this one will be closer to the 70k range due to the amount of stuff I wanted to include.
• There will be a new main character who will be featured on the upcoming cover! This person was actually mentioned in Volume 2 somewhere, I wonder if anyone can figure out who it is!~
• I can confirm that Hiro’s perspective makes up the majority of this volume as a result of an event that Volume 2 readers are aware of.
• This will be a very emotional volume, I am not going to go into details about what that entails, however you can still expect the same signature cute fluff and goofy humor as always!
• Some of you might not remember this, but I did mention that this series was originally an isekai at some point, yes? Well, let’s just say that I have found a clever way to integrate that concept into this episode!~ I had to completely rewrite most of it since the script was so rough, but boy oh boy is it fun. Hehehe, I’m getting the giggles again! It’s too good!
• It will be the first of the novels to be have key scenes fully illustrated! What? I mentioned that already? Well, I wanted to say it again, because I am way too excited to see this story brought to life by such an incredible artist! You have no idea how badly I wanted this to happen! T__T Ah, if you’re wondering about when this will happen for the other two, how soon it happens depends on how well this series sells in the future! Believe me, I want to see them get illustrated too, however good art is expensive and I would like to do both at the same time so that readers wouldn’t go: “Wow, book 1 has pictures, but 2 doesn’t?! Author is a cheapskate, grrrr!” =( That’s also partly why I chose to start with Volume 3. Either way, when it does eventually come to fruition, I will make those changes available to everyone in a FREE optional update, so you might want to grab it before the price increases if you don’t own a copy yet! Wink. Wink.
With that, I wanted to thank everyone for the billionth time. My light novel series will finally have illustrations and I owe that unbelievable achievement to your overwhelming encouragement and love. I mean Volume 1 was able to become a #2 bestselling rom-com AND light novel at some point, it's crazy!
Thank you so much for helping this series become something of a success and please stick around, so that I can finish the rest of it!

Volume 3 is finally out! Okay, cool, so what's next?!

It’s been a while, huh? Although this update is kinda late, I’m pleased to announce that the long-awaited 3rd volume of My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! is finally out! Yahoo! You have no idea how happy that makes me!
Volume 3 , otherwise known as “Mellow Memory,” is a bit different from what you’d come to expect from this series, right? The heavy amount of Hiro povs, the tense atmosphere, and the inclusion of an additional 6th chapter — all things that have never been seen in the episodes prior! However, that was all planned from the start, this is a very special episode after all! Speaking of the extra chapter, in conjunction with the rest of the books, the ~77,000 word count of Mellow Memory puts the Dense MC-kun series at over 200,000 words: a huge milestone! Whew, that’s a lot of virtual ink and paper! Heh, I wonder if this series will ever materialize into something that could be physically held in your hands? Hmm…
Anyway, I know what you’re all thinking: now that the 3rd book is out, what’s next? Well, that’s obvious, silly! Other You will finally get a new cover done by the same artist as this series! Eh? Not what you were expecting? Oh yeah, Volume 4 is already officially underway and it should be finished sometime during summer! Unlike this episode, I can assure you that it will be lighthearted and fun! Well, this has always been that sort of series, so look forward to the chaotic rom-com clown fiesta! All jokes aside, Other You really is getting a makeover soon, and I also have some fun stuff planned for this series!~ The 1-year anniversary is right around the corner… Hmm…

Hello, everyone! I missed you all very much! My apologies for the lack of updates, life gets quite busy and things often don’t go as planned… Anyway, I have some updates about

First, Volume 4 has been delayed until the later half of October, quite possibly even dipping into early November. I’m really sorry about this and I know how agonizing the wait can be, but the cover isn’t finished yet and more polishing needs to be done until it’s ready for release.
On the bright side, I do have some good news to announce! As a result of all of the delays, an extra chapter was added to Volume 4! I made this decision with Volume 6 in mind (that is not a typo, I plan far ahead) and I really do believe that these scenes feel very much at home here in this episode. It just made too much sense to include them here, trust me! This puts Volume 4 at approximately the same word length as its predecessor and it might be the longest entry in the series thus far, depending on what happens during the final editing pass! …Though, most of you somehow manage to read all of that in like a single reading session…ahaha…
Ahem! In addition to this, I am also pleased to announce that the illustrations and physical paperback releases are official underway! Yahoo! Unfortunately, Alice will not be the one to draw them. Don’t worry, she will still continue to do the covers, character designs and some promotion stuff, so basically nothing changed! And based on the rough sketches that I have received; I have no doubts that this new artist (who I’ll announce soon) will do an equally incredible job of bringing these beloved characters to life! Tomo looks absolutely adorable in their style, I can’t wait to share their amazing artwork with all of you! The plan is to start with Volume 1 and work our way through the series until we eventually catch up. These are HD, fully colored (for digital) illustrations, and there will be at least 1 per chapter! Readers who own the books will get them in a free update just like I, Who Fell in Love with the Other You, and I will raise the price of the books once they go live, so please keep that in mind!
With that out of the way, I wanted to thank every single one of you for your readership and patience. The decision to go forward with the illustrations was only made possible by your wonderful support, thank you so very much for believing in my small series! Volume 4 is coming out THIS month! Yay!
Greetings, everyone! Oh, and Happy New Year as well! This is my very first blog post for 2020, so it’s been a while, huh? …I’m so sorry for worrying you, but I’m totally fine!
Speaking of which, I wanted to apologize for that. It’s been forever since I last posted here… I am truly sorry for taking so long with progress and updates, it’s just that life gets busy sometimes and it can get difficult to find time to write. I’m the type of author who can only write when I’m happy, it’s difficult to write cute and fluffy romance novels when you’re feeling down. One’s writing will take a nosedive under such circumstances, so I never forced myself whenever it happens. This feeling was at its worse during the tragic Kyoto Animation incident that occurred not long after the rerelease of I, Who Fell in Love with the Other You. As one of their biggest fans since I was a little and as a creator who is greatly inspired by their beautiful works, I was deeply affected by the tragedy and I struggled to do much of anything. So many lives lost just like that, it’s way too sad… So many bad things have been happening lately, in fact, I almost lost a family member to a stroke just before this post went up (Thankfully they survived and are now resting in a hospital, please take good care of yourselves, your health should always come first!).
But despite how much of a downer all of that is, I wanted to remind you that there are always good people out there who fight against these horrible things with acts of generosity! So many people donated to KyoAni’s charities and left tributes all across the world, it’s unreal. Time is always moving forward, it never waits for anyone – therefore, instead of mourning the loss for the rest of our lives, I believe we should honor them by living life to the fullest without any regrets. I will do so too, and that’s why I’m here with today’s long-awaited update!
It feels great to be back! I am very pleased to announce that Volume 4 of My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! is finally coming out, THIS month! Yahoo, it’s about time! Although I was originally aiming to launch it on Valentine’s Day, (since it is a cute and fluffy love story) it still needs a bit more time and will likely not be ready until the end of February. I know the wait has been pretty bad, (In fact, many of you have asked me about it on social media and for that I’m so, so very grateful to know that you still care!) but writing a series like this is quite difficult (I’m only one person) and I will always prioritize the quality of the story over just halfheartedly releasing them for the sake of it. I am also a fan of my own series, you know? Well, I’m happy to let you know that the wait won’t be too long now, and it’s quite the lengthy read! The manuscript ended up being over 90k words, so it’s almost like you’re getting a novel and a half! I can assure you that it’s as heartwarming and silly as ever, and a sequel that is worth the wait! Hnnnggg, so many fun and fluffy scenes, I really think you’ll enjoy it!
With that, I will get back to work so that I can get it out as soon as possible! Thank you all so very much for your support over this past year, it’s still surreal to me that a random idea I had was able to grow so much! I’m very fortunate to have all of you and I hope you stick around for the rest of the series! Time is always moving forward, it never waits for anyone – therefore, instead of mourning the loss for the rest of our lives, I believe we should honor them by living life to the fullest without any regrets. I will do so too, and that’s why I’m here with today’s long-awaited update!
It feels great to be back! I am very pleased to announce that Volume 4 of My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! is finally coming out, THIS month! Yahoo, it’s about time! Although I was originally aiming to launch it on Valentine’s Day, (since it is a cute and fluffy love story) it still needs a bit more time and will likely not be ready until the end of February. I know the wait has been pretty bad, (In fact, many of you have asked me about it on social media and for that I’m so, so very grateful to know that you still care!) but writing a series like this is quite difficult (I’m only one person) and I will always prioritize the quality of the story over just halfheartedly releasing them for the sake of it. I am also a fan of my own series, you know? Well, I’m happy to let you know that the wait won’t be too long now, and it’s quite the lengthy read! The manuscript ended up being over 90k words, so it’s almost like you’re getting a novel and a half! I can assure you that it’s as heartwarming and silly as ever, and a sequel that is worth the wait! Hnnnggg, so many fun and fluffy scenes, I really think you’ll enjoy it!
With that, I will get back to work so that I can get it out as soon as possible! Thank you all so very much for your support over this past year, it’s still surreal to me that a random idea I had was able to grow so much! I’m very fortunate to have all of you and I hope you stick around for the rest of the series! Hopefully the next update really will be about the launch of Volume 4 and I don’t get abducted by a UFO or something! Ahaha… uuuu… l-let’s hope not… Also, I will have more details about the very first paperback copies of the series after 4 launches! I hope to see you soon, thanks for reading!~

A lot of readers have been asking me about it lately, so I wanted to make it clear. Although I'll still be posting animations and drawings from time to time, writing will be my priority for the foreseeable future. Thank you so much for your patience, I will give it my all!

Hey! So the bad news is that the book will take another week to finish (as is tradition). Sometimes you feel inspired and add scenes that weren't initially planned. But on the bright side, I'm really happy with the script and it's near the length of 2 volumes! Over 100k words of fluffy chaos, at last I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! For those of you who are miraculously still around, thank you so much for your patience.
