The first part of my new paranormal rom-com short story series is out! At last!~
Hello readers! It is I once again, the great Shintaro Mofujin! I have returned after a one-week excursion with great news!
My new fluffy romantic-comedy series with a ghost heroine that I totally mentioned before is officially available as of this posting!
My Apartment Is Haunted by the Ghost of My Dead Childhood Best Friend Who Likes Me! is an idea that I had lingering in my head for a while now! It must've been around the time that I watched Anohana (which I recommend by the way) when the concept started hatching in my small head.
This story follows a young man named Haruto Igarashi who is tormented by the loss of his childhood best friend Aiga Kato: a girl that passed away nearly a decade ago. He didn’t realize it until it was too late, but he admits that his first love was his best friend who is now gone. After another failed attempt by his other childhood friend to pair him with a different girl via a mixer, Haru returns home to his small cramped apartment. It is there that he notices that a couple of things are…off. The lights in the living room and kitchen are on despite the fact that he remembers leaving them off before heading to work. Also, there is a delicious homecooked meal sizzling on top of his stove. “This too must be a result of working too many over-time shifts” he tries to justify as the reason behind these bizarre occurrences. Suddenly, someone steps out of the bathroom and speaks to him. “Long time no see, Haru! I really really missed you, ya know? Huuum huum!~” she says to him. It is his old friend Aiga Kato, but… why the heck is she wearing a bridal dress, floating in the air and her body is transparent?! “Well that’s cuz I’m a ghost, silly!!!” she answers him with overflowing enthusiasm.
It is a fluffy, heartwarming and silly story about the reunion of two dear childhood friends: he who cannot forget the past, and she who doesn’t want to leave his side. I highly recommend checking it out, it supports Kindle Unlimited and it’s only $0.99!
This time I decided to put my good old drawing tablet (which I originally purchased for the popular rhythm game Osu!) to use and draw up the cover for this story! It was difficult but I admit to randomly practicing my art skills a few summers ago, so those abilities that wasted away are now coming back to me! I am satisfied with the end result, though I admit that I am still too green and I will continue to improve! In the long-term, I would like to illustrate all of my Light Novels with drawings of all of the scenes and such for the true experience! But such work is time-consuming and requires a lot of work and talent. Please look forward to it in time!
Yikes...
Now we're talking!
Now onto other matters: I will admit to being a bit lax lately considering the long-awaited PC release of Monster Hunter World finally coming to fruition! Ah, it’s the bee’s knees and I’m enjoying it with good friends! I’ve been a fan of the series since the original PS2 version, you know? Uh oh, sorry I got another disconnect error again! …As for Dense Harem Main Character-kun , I will get to working on it full-time after I finish this short story series first! Do not worry, the wait will be worth it for sure, also it’ll probably only be a few months until it arrives! I am certainly improving and I want to futureproof my beloved debut main series with care and consideration! It is honestly a dream come true that there are those out there who continue to read and buy my humble novels that I expected to go ignored!
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your VERY much appreciated support and I will give it my all to persevere as a Light Novel writing wannabe! Until next time, readers! Thank you.

Wahoo!~ They approved my request for an update and Animal Crossing 2019!
Hello again, it is I, your long lost imouto-chan who has been worried sick about you, ever since you moved away from your loving family. How are you doing? Are your studies progressing? Are you properly resting and eating well? I’m worried and miss you…
......Pffftttt!!!
Muahahaha, you thought it was surprise caring imouto-chan, but it was I, lazy light novelist extraordinaire, SHINTARO MOFUJIN! Fufufu! Ah, but please do take care to not overexert yourself and eat properly! I have returned from an in-depth conversation with a Kirby-of-the-Color-Green-san about the recent trend of weight loss isekai stories in the light novel medium and have some exciting updates to talk about!
First of all, I’m pleased to announce that Part 2 of my newest paranormal rom com short story series My Apartment Is Haunted by the Ghost of My Dead Childhood Best Friend Who Likes Me! is officially OUT! This one focuses on how Haru and Aiga first met, in addition to some more fluffy slice of life scenes and answers to questions that might’ve been lingering on your mind. “Why was writer Shintaro Mofujin pretending to be my imaginary imouto?” That, I cannot say for sure.
In addition, I watched Nintendo’s latest direct and was absolutely elated when they ended the presentation with the announcement of a totally new Animal Crossing game, slated for 2019 on the Switch! Still… that was quite the way to reveal it, right? An Isabelle Super Smash reveal followed by a look into Tom Nook’s depressing personal life in that dark, barely lit room? Hmm… Anyhow, my mom and I have been fans of the series since the original gamecube version came out! (Of course, the real original was the N64 one, but that one never came over to the west, so for all purposes here, it’s gamecube!) It really is a nostalgic series for me, the real-time clock, the lovable characters with fun dialogue and the real need to collect every item imaginable! Perhaps the most hardcore game that appears to be casual on the surface… Ahhh, it’s probably one of my favorite video game franchises ever, I’m very happy that there will be more to come! Also, TGS 2018 is coming soon, which means that the Ace Attorney news is on its way! 7 is the magical number!~

With that out of the way, if anyone was wondering why I put off writing this blog entry with the whole ‘waiting for an email' excuse, it’s because of this announcement! Now this newbie of a novelist assumed that ebooks on Amazon were similar to apps in that once an update is pushed, that update would go to EVERYONE. Unfortunately, that is not the case when it comes to the distribution of VIRTUAL paper and ink! Basically, if you purchased an ebook on say, launch day, that is the version that you will keep, even if the one on the store has been modified. Ah, but it makes sense if you think about it when it comes to readers having personal highlights, notes and bookmarks on their copy and changes would mess those up, so there you have it! On the flip side, authors can request to make these changes available to readers as long as they do a proper write-up of modifications that were made! Well, I’m happy to say that not only did I submit a request for my debut novel, but it was approved earlier this morning!
That’s right! Since I was already in the process of outlining the 2nd volume, I went back and reread the entire 1st volume and have made improvements and minor fixes that will certainly improve the overall reading experience! Obviously, no changes to plot or characters, (that’s just…you can’t do that, c-can you…?) but some enhancements like a properly functioning table of contents page for easier navigation, obnoxious typo fixes, inclusion of the volume number and more! Now all readers that already own the 1st installment of my Debut Fluffy Weird yet heartwarming Gender Bender Romantic Comedy Light Novel series My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! can receive this Quality Update starting TODAY! Unfortunately, this is classified as a “minor update” in their terms, so you guys will only be notified of its existence via this blog, but hey, that’s why you’re here, yes? In case you’re unfamiliar with how to receive this free, no fuss, no coconuts update, I can provide you with an explanation! On your Amazon page, under the ‘Let Us Help You’ heading on the bottom of your page, click Manage Your Content and Devices and go over to my book which should now say ‘Update Available!’ Click it and tada, you now have a table of contents page and a slightly higher word count!
Speaking of Best Friend and Main Character-kun, the 2nd volume outline is going swimmingly well and I have all sorts of fun and heartwarming events planned! Look forward to it in a few months, I apologize for the wait, but life really does get busy and I will absolutely make it worth waiting for! The goal of course is to completely defeat the me from the past who didn’t even know how to implement a table of contents page… The fool has no chance of competing with this new and improved Mofujin! Muahahaha!!!
…Anyway, I am very happy that I could make this quality update available for all of you wonderful readers that have supported me from the beginning! Thank you so much for everything, you make this whole writing thing worth it and make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Also, thanks to Amazon for being very helpful and quick with the process! Until next time, and be sure to grab the new update!~

I’m back! BIG update on Volume 3: I have slightly bad news and really exciting good news! Now with a cover preview!
Hello, everyone! Yes, I’m still alive!
Uhh….
*Tumbleweed flies by*
H-Hello? Is this thing on?
*Checks the date of the last blog update and sees that it was over a month ago*
Oh.
*Dusts off the cobwebs and hangs up celebratory balloons*
Alright, we’re good to go! I apologize for being so inactive here, but I wasn’t kidding about wanting to give Volume 3 my 1000%! Quite some time has passed since the halfway marker was reached for the 3rd entry of my debut romantic comedy light novel series, My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! , right? Well, I’m pleased to announce that writing-wise, this volume should be finished in only a few days! Yahoo!
Despite this update, as already stated in the title: I do have some slightly disappointing news… Unfortunately, the release of Volume 3 will be pushed back to around late March to early April. Even if the story is completely readable as it currently sits, this is a very special episode of this beloved series and I absolutely have to do it right! I am truly sorry for this letdown, since I did suggest that it would quickly follow Volume 2’s release in the past, (both in the afterword and in a blog post) however things tend to not go as planned and you have my word that I will use this extra time to polish everything into perfection!
Now that we got that downer out of the way, I did say that I had a surprise update for you wonderful folks! Due to the continued success of this series and encouragement from readers who have enjoyed it thus far, I have decided to go through with something that I have been wanting to do since I first started writing these novels, but lacked the resources to execute at the time. Yes, thanks to everyone’s incredible support, Volume 3 of Dense MC-kun will be FULLY ILLUSTRATED (in black and white) with key scenes hand drawn by the talented official artist, Alice Vu! Hurray, it really feels like we’re a light novel now! You can expect at least 1 illustration per chapter and I will unfortunately have to bump up the price by a bit due to the costs of such detailed artwork, in addition to the fees for the increased file size of the book. On the bright side, Tomo and Dense Main Character-kun will finally be brought to life for all of the world to see! Wahoo! I’ve waited so long to make this happen, but it was only thanks to you wonderful readers that we were able to reach this amazing milestone! Thank you so very much for everything, I am truly grateful for your support!
Well, on top of the editing and polishing that needs to be done, you understand why it had to be delayed, yes? I really do apologize for the inconvenience, but this really is an important installment and it takes time and lots of tea to make every volume as enjoyable as possible! I won’t let you down!
As a result of this likely being my last post until around the time Volume 3 releases, I thought I’d leave you guys with some non-spoiling tidbits about this upcoming episode!
• It is the longest volume in the series thus far. Usually I aim to make each novel around 60k words, however this one will be closer to the 70k range due to the amount of stuff I wanted to include.
• There will be a new main character who will be featured on the upcoming cover! This person was actually mentioned in Volume 2 somewhere, I wonder if anyone can figure out who it is!~
• I can confirm that Hiro’s perspective makes up the majority of this volume as a result of an event that Volume 2 readers are aware of.
• This will be a very emotional volume, I am not going to go into details about what that entails, however you can still expect the same signature cute fluff and goofy humor as always!
• Some of you might not remember this, but I did mention that this series was originally an isekai at some point, yes? Well, let’s just say that I have found a clever way to integrate that concept into this episode!~ I had to completely rewrite most of it since the script was so rough, but boy oh boy is it fun. Hehehe, I’m getting the giggles again! It’s too good!
• It will be the first of the novels to be have key scenes fully illustrated! What? I mentioned that already? Well, I wanted to say it again, because I am way too excited to see this story brought to life by such an incredible artist! You have no idea how badly I wanted this to happen! T__T Ah, if you’re wondering about when this will happen for the other two, how soon it happens depends on how well this series sells in the future! Believe me, I want to see them get illustrated too, however good art is expensive and I would like to do both at the same time so that readers wouldn’t go: “Wow, book 1 has pictures, but 2 doesn’t?! Author is a cheapskate, grrrr!” =( That’s also partly why I chose to start with Volume 3. Either way, when it does eventually come to fruition, I will make those changes available to everyone in a FREE optional update, so you might want to grab it before the price increases if you don’t own a copy yet! Wink. Wink.
With that, I wanted to thank everyone for the billionth time. My light novel series will finally have illustrations and I owe that unbelievable achievement to your overwhelming encouragement and love. I mean Volume 1 was able to become a #2 bestselling rom-com AND light novel at some point, it's crazy!
Thank you so much for helping this series become something of a success and please stick around, so that I can finish the rest of it!
Well, back to work! In the meantime, here’s the 1st two covers for your viewing pleasure!

You can expect just as much quality for the upcoming illustrations as well! Ahhhh, I can’t wait, it’s going to be a real treat!
Quick Update (March 18th):
Illustrations and editing for Volume 3 are officially underway, yahoo! In the meantime, here is an incredible sketch of the new cover drawn by the amazing official artist to keep you company! Minase has finally been brought to life, but who is that fellow standing next to her? ...Well, back to work!~
Until next time!~

Got some big announcements to make and also updates about the updates!~ Just the usual.
Hiya, it’s me again and I’m here with your Monthly Mofu update!
So… to start things off, I know that I said that the next update wouldn’t go up until around Volume 3 came out, however I appreciate all of your support and I want to let you folks know when stuff doesn’t go as planned. As such, I do have a minor bummer of an announcement to make: unfortunately, Volume 3 of Dense MC-kun will not be fully illustrated, but partially illustrated. I am truly sorry to those of you who were looking forward to it, (Believe me, I wanted it to happen with this book as well) but life can be unpredictable and on top of my own problems, the artist got super sick. This happened around the time we started and that was on top of already being overwhelmed with other issues, so I am just grateful that it wasn’t anything too serious and that we can continue working together.
With that downer out of the way, I do have some good news! Volume 3 is slated for release in April! Yahoo! It won’t have all of the illustrations at launch, however 2 very important scenes will be illustrated and those will appear near the end, so keep your eyes peeled!~ In addition to that, the manuscript for Volume 3 is the longest in the series at 6 chapters spanning nearly 80,000 words! This puts the entire series above a total of 200,000 words, wow that’s a lot of digital ink! The amazing cover is finished and hopefully the completion of the illustrations will overlap with the editing and polishing when it releases. We're both working hard, trust me!

In other news, thanks to the popularity of My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! , my standalone short story I, Who Fell in Love with the Other You: Wish has started gaining a little traction too! Now Other You was a story that was uploaded with little fanfare and I did that intentionally, because I was never a fan of the lazy cover and I put off having it redone for far too long. Well, I’m pleased to say that not only will it have a completely revamped cover, but it will be my first fully illustrated light novel! As always, the artist will be Alice, wahoo! I’ll talk more about it following Volume 3’s launch, and if any of you are interested, please do wait until this revamped version launches for the best reading experience possible. For those of you who own a copy already, this version will be available to you in a free update, and I’ll notify you all when it happens!
Last, I am more than pleased to announce that full illustrations for Dense MC-kun will follow Other You , starting with the very first volume! So basically, the illustrations are still happening as planned but will be slowly completed over time so that the quality can be maximized with a happy healthy schedule for the artist! Just like everything else, these changes will be made available for current readers in a free update, so don’t fret! Also understand that the price for these new versions will be slightly higher due to the costs of high-quality art commissions and a larger file size, so you might want to grab it while it’s still cheaper.
Anyway, that’s it for today’s announcements! Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement, Volume 3 is coming later this April and there’s a lot of other fun stuff on the horizon, but all of this good news is only possible, because of YOU! I am truly grateful from the bottom of my Mofu heart, the support has been insane, I seriously appreciate everything! Thanks for putting up with this slow, lazy novelist and please stick around to see the rest of the series! Well, back to editing, until our next meeting!~
If you haven’t read it yet, my last post talked a little about the next volume, so feel free to check it out! Read it HERE!

The new revamped Other You has just gone live!
Hello world and all you wonderful people that inhabit it! It is I, the lazy light novelist extraordinaire!
I have an exciting announcement today! I, Who Fell in Love with the Other You has finally received the complete makeover that it rightfully deserves and those changes have just gone LIVE! That’s right, this small but beloved romance story not only has a stunning new cover, but is also the very first of my stories to feature an illustration by the all too talented Alice Vu! Ah, I also reread and rewrote it, because it has been a while since it released. Yahoo!
But before we discuss that exciting news, let’s talk a little about the story itself! For those who aren’t familiar with it, Other You is quite different from my main series. For starters, although they’re both rom-coms, Other You is more serious with a much stronger focus on the romance aspect (Not that Dense MC-kun doesn’t have its moments, but MC-kun always finds a way to kill the mood...). In addition, while my main series was designed to be easily adapted into a long-running anime/manga series, this short story can be likened to a movie. This makes sense as it was greatly inspired by wonderful romance films like Your Name, 5 Centimeters Per Second, and A Silent Voice. Although my writing has always been influenced by manga, anime and LNs, lifechanging movies like those have made lasting impressions that have stuck with me to this very day. Riding off of the momentum of having finished my debut light novel, I wanted to try my hand at recreating those deep experiences, and Other You is the manifestation of all of that.
It is the story of a young boy named Daisuke Takahashi who just recently moved from the countryside, and is anxiously walking towards his middle school entrance ceremony. Agonizing over being away from all of his friends in an unfamiliar environment, his breath is taken away when he meets a mysterious girl on the base of a hilltop underneath a cherry blossom colored sky. A fateful encounter that changes everything. Sounds pretty interesting, yes? Apologies, but going further would spoil the experience and we wouldn’t want that!~ Moving on, let’s talk about the outstanding cover done by the ever so talented Alice Vu! Words can’t express how happy I am with how it turned out! The gorgeous warm lighting, the insanely detailed shading, and the breeze making the gorgeously rendered sakura petals and strands of hair flutter!~ It truly does evoke the warmth of the springtime of youth – the fateful encounter of a first love blooming! I am truly fortunate to have such a hardworking and kind artist as a partner for my novels… Thank you so much for the millionth time, Alice!~
Speaking of the artist of Dense MC-kun, things are certainly in the works for that series too, stay tuned until the next post! I can confirm that I am officially working on Volume 4, but we’ll talk about that later! Other You is finally complete and I do hope that some of you will give this special standalone romance story a chance! It is a short and cozy experience, perfect for a summer reading session! For those of you who already own a copy, I am trying to get the update accepted as soon as possible, but things are looking a little dicey. Second time’s the charm, fingers crossed! Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement, this new makeover was only made possible by you wonderful readers! Well, back to work! Until next time!~
UPDATE: It got approved! The new revamped Other You is now available for owners of the original version as a free, optional update! Simply navigate to the "Manage Your Content and Devices" link at the bottom of your amazon page and click the corresponding "Update" text next to the book!
