Boston Comicon 2015 Report

The fans and friends made this year’s Boston Comicon simply great. It was the best Boston Comicon I had so far. The show was held at The Seaport Boston World Trade Center located right by the water overlooking the Boston harbor. All three days, the show was busy from start to finish. Saturday was the busiest with fans from all over the region packing the aisles. My wife and I had a fantastic time hanging with my World of Payne co-creator, Tom Sniegoski, and his his lovely wife, LeeAnne all weekend. Plus I got to sit next to and chat with the beautiful and bodacious Ivy Doomkitty all weekend also. (She was dressed as Emperor Kuzco, Spider-Gwen and Meg from the Family Guy show.)

I sold mainly my leftover art prints from San Diego Comicon and last year’s sketchbooks. The business was steady and brisk at times, especially Saturday. There were some slow periods during the weekend which allowed me to do two sketch covers at the show, Supergirl and Wonder Woman.

But the main reason for me attending the Boston Comicon this year was to officially announce “World of Payne” project with my co-creator and buddy, Tom Sniegoski, in his hometown of Boston. Despite couple of screw-ups (Me leaving the art files at home), the World of Payne panel talk was a hoot. The fans were energized by our project and the story overview. To be honest, I really got pumped up for the project after the panel talk myself, and when I got home Sunday night, I spent few hours drawing and working on World of Payne. (DESTINY TOAD!!!)

Big thank you to Boston Comicon and the fans for making the World of Payne panel a huge success.

Tom and I with Flesk Publications will launch the World of Payne Kickstarter campaign sometime in the Spring 2016, right after I finish my Hulk run with Greg Pak at Marvel.

Thanks again, Boston fans, for the lovely show. See you next year.

I’m literally walking out the door to catch my plane to Boston Comicon this weekend. It’s been a brutal few weeks of unrelenting work since San Diego Comicon. I really have nothing to report at the moment. All my projects are in motion and I’m doing my best to stay on top of them.

So before I go, here’s a quick blog that you might enjoy. Here are the She-Hulk sketches that I submitted for the ESPN the Body issue.

Oh, I’ll be sitting next to Tom Sniegoski at Boston Comicon promoting our upcoming creator-owned project, World of Payne: Ghost Dog. Also, I may do one or two sketch covers while I’m at the show.

Another page down! I’ve been in complete lock-down mode this weekend trying to get these Hulk pages done in time. I just finished this page yesterday and I’ve penciled the another page this afternoon. Hopefully, I’ll get the page inked and finished by tonight.

Here’s a partial sneak peek of the page that I just finished. She-Hulk and Spider-Man battling two new villains.

Man, time is flying by. Sorry for the late blog this week, folks. I’ve been trying to make up for all the work time I’ve lost attending San Diego Comicon.

I’ve pretty much took the phone off the receiver and buried myself into the Hulk project since I got back home from San Diego. My schedule has been – eat, draw, write, sleep and repeat. Here are some of the pages I’ve been working on.

Hopefully, I’ll come up for air next week.
