Enchantress Partial Peek

Frank Cho Totally Awesome Hulk #5 cover peek

Frank Cho: Totally Awesome Hulk #5 cover no spoilers peek. Click to enlarge.

Well, I finished drawing and inking Totally Awesome Hulk #5 cover few days ago, and I have to say that it turned out better than I expected. I usually find faults in most of the drawings I create, but this cover is one of those rare cases where I’m somewhat happy with the final image. Don’t get me wrong. There are some minor details I’m annoyed with but the overall result is a positive one.

Unfortunately, I can’t show you the entire cover image just yet. So I’m going to do the next best thing and show you a partial sneak peek of the cover.

Enjoy and have a great week, everyone.

Artistic Impulses

Frank Cho Indian Canoe oil on canvas W.I.P.

Frank Cho: Indian Canoe oil on canvas W.I.P.. Click to view full image.

Man, what is wrong with me? Every time I have a pressing deadline, my mind wanders to other things. Case in point, I’m under a tight deadline for the Hulk, and what do I do? I finish penciling 2 pages and instead of jumping to the 3rd page to get ahead or even get much much needed sleep, I work on my damn oil painting to relax.

And the funny thing is if it was reverse – if the oil painting was the deadline project and the comic book work was for fun, I would go out of my way to do the comic book work. It’s freaking crazy. I sometimes can’t figure out my creative impulses. It has a mind of its own and has a very impractical bent that plays havoc with my schedule.

Anyway, here’s the giant oil painting that I worked on last night instead of my Hulk pages. I’ve been working this giant oil painting on and off these last several months. I added the Indian in a canoe recently.

Frank Cho Totally Awesome Hulk #5 cover rough sketch

Frank Cho: Totally Awesome Hulk #5 cover rough sketch. Click to enlarge.

I’m in the groove with the Hulk book, working through the nights steadily churning out the pages. Every few weeks, I detour from the daily grind to work on the covers.

Here’s a rough sketch for Totally Awesome Hulk #5 cover. I hope to have it done in couple days. Really enjoying how this is shaping out.

Break time is over. Now it’s time to get back on the Hulk.
