I hope everyone enjoyed and survived this Christmas Holiday. I barely did.

Christmas is the holiday I dread most. With my family, girlfriend and work obligations, it’s the most stressful time of the year for me. And this year was no different, actually it was worse than previous years. Being locked in with people you don’t want to see and spending money you don’t have. Stress city.

To relax and to relieve some stress, at the end of the day, I like to lock myself in the studio and draw for the sheer pleasure of it. Art therapy if you will.

That’s just what I did for 3 hours Christmas night. I grabbed my ballpoint pens, paper and lost myself in art. And here’s the end result.

I feel much better.

I was cleaning out my study and came across this old Brandy preliminary art for the Brandy float pen. It was a watercolor study and unfinished Brandy sketch. I was trying to figure out the body position of Brandy and the overall color scheme. I remember struggling with the watercolor paint (the most unforgiving medium) and having a helluva time trying to get the water just right. I still don’t think I got it right.

Anyway, I decided to finish and clean-up the sketch (ballpoint pen) and scan it before I shut this art back into the vault and forget about it.

I still have some Brandy float art pens left. I’ll bring them to San Jose Big Wow Comic Fest and sell them to anyone who wants one.

Okay. Attention all stalkers! Here’s my convention travel plans for 2013.

Now, remember, these are not the final plans. There are still couple of conventions that may be added later on.

Here’s a con schedule so far:

March 15 – 17, MegaCon, Orlando, Florida

March 29 – 31, Wonder Con, Anahiem, California

April 25 – 28, NAPLES COMIC FEST, Italy

May 18 – 19, Big Wow Comic Fest , San Jose California

May 23 – 26, Phoenix Comic-Con, Phoenix, Arizona – (tentative)

June 7 – 9, Heroes Con, Charlotte, North Carolina

July 18 – 21, Comicon, San Diego, California

September 7 – 8, Baltimore Comic-Con, Baltimore, Maryland

Late November – PARIS ART EXHIBIT, France

*I’ll be doing my only drawing class at San Jose Big Wow Comic Fest in May 18 – 19. It’s free and opened to everyone at the convention. This year’s live model will again be the lovely Ivy Doomkitty.

** Also at San Jose Big Wow Comic Fest, they will host one of the biggest cos-play gathering in the nation and various workshops on costume making from start to finish – Open to everyone.
