An Evening on Siesta Key
We had a wonderful evening as a family last night just 5 miles from our home. I've mapped the brief path we took from best pizza to best beach to best ice cream. Archive this if you're ever in the area. (And please say hi when you come!)
The photo in this post was taken last night, too.

YouTube Redesign Preview, Dubbed 'Cosmic Panda'
Another preview of a redesign by Google Inc., this one for YouTube, and it's difficult to not like the UI improvements.
Plot Device
Really clever short film — and marketing stunt — demonstrating the capabilities of Magic Bullet, which is essentially a host of pre-built color filters and effects for programs such as Final Cut and After Effects.
How to Get the New Gmail 'Preview' Theme
I've been using this new theme for about a week, and it's utterly fantastic. (I prefer the Dense version.)
For the record, I've been using the gmail.com interface — not through an email client, but the in-browser version — since 2006. I've yet to find a more efficient interface for email, including Sparrow. I do, however, use Mailplane, which I've stuck with for about a year now. It helps with switching between accounts (easier than the Gmail option in the upper right), gives my mail a place in the dock, and retains the in-browser experience.

Vacate.
I've been away from my desk attempting to vacation the past week, and I'll be away again this week half vacationing, half volunteering.
While I'm out, check out Little Big Details for regular UI inspiration (or perhaps influence).

Win a Fontdeck Gift Box
I was lucky enough to receive a Fontdeck gift box (pictured above). They have just three remaining, and each includes a $50 voucher, t-shirt, surprisingly delicious chocolate letters, and more. Enter by creating an HTML typographical piece using two Fontdeck fonts, such as these sample cards (of which printed versions are included in the gift box).

Most Common iPhone Passcodes
Hint: 1234.
This isn't actual iPhone passcode data, but instead passcode data from an app called Big Brother Camera Security whose "passcode setup screen and lock screen are nearly identical to those of the actual iPhone passcode lock." (From what I can tell, Big Brother is an app not unlike Hidden of This Guy Has My MacBook fame, but for iPhone.)
There's some irony here to behold. Users of the Big Brother app track those who use their phone without permission. And how did Daniel Amitay compile the Big Brother passcodes being used? By quietly, albeit anonymously, tracking users of the Big Brother app.
Apptly named.
