And three identical 100% cotton kids’ shirts.
Then the fun began! Staining the shirts.
The bottle of Spray and Wash says to “Rub Spry N Wash Laundry Stain Remover into the fabric…wait 1 to 5 minutes then launder in the warmest water.
OxiClean states, “Spray directly onto spot or stain until saturated. Rub into fabric and let stand for up to 10 minutes. Wash with normal detergent.
The bottle of Shout says to “completely cover the stain…rub the formula in to penetrate stain. Wait 1-5 minutes (just like Spray and Wash) and launder with the warmest water the fabric will accept.
The three shirts were treated with the stain removers and laundered under warm water with a medium load of white laundry.
And the results are in!

From a distance all three shirts look fine. But if you examined them close up (our close up shots didn’t turn out very good) you could still see the grass stains on the one treated with Shout and the one treated with OxiClean. By far Spray and Wash worked the best.

Healthy Eating Tips to Take You Into 2021
The holidays will be very different for most of us this year. What likely won’t change, however, is the holiday food and beverages that come along with the festivities. Herbalife Nutrition recently surveyed 2,000 Americans and found that 61% feel they deserve to indulge this holiday season – more so than in other years – because of the stress of 2020. Additionally, 53% have found themselves making more unhealthy food choices, in an effort to feel better about the fact that the holiday season is so different this year.
While treating yourself is a perfectly normal, and expected, tradition once the holidays roll around, you don’t want to go overboard, because that could lead to unnecessary weight gain as well as added anxiety to an already stressful year and the new year ahead.
Here are some ways to indulge healthfully over the holidays:
Snack Healthfully
A nutritious, balanced snack can help keep you energized between meals and can help you eat less. However, stressful situations can often lead to mindless snacking or stress eating. This is why it’s important to snack before heading out to holiday gatherings, or even carry high-protein snacks with you– hard crunchy foods can also help relieve stress by putting tight jaw muscles to work, so try snacking on a handful of almonds, soy nuts or baby carrots.
Hydration is Just as Important as Eating
Water is essential for nutrient absorption and helps with overall digestion and provides a natural way for your body to detox. Your immune system also relies on a well-hydrated body. Coffee and tea can count towards your daily fluid intake but watch your calories and your caffeine intake.
Pack Your Plate with Protein and Veggies
Many of our holiday dishes can often be high in calories but low in the nutrients and vitamins our bodies need. One way to cut back on carbs and fat, and resist unhealthy eating is to incorporate more protein and veggies into every meal. Protein-rich foods such as meat, poultry, eggs and legumes are filling, and also supply B vitamins, vitamin E, iron, zinc, and magnesium. When it comes to veggies, skip the starchy sides and double up on the greens. It’s an easy way to cut calories, and the extra fiber will help fill you up.
Be Selective with Sweets
Unfortunately, many sweets can have a very high calorie cost, which is counterproductive to maintaining a healthy weight. These treats are inevitable around the holidays, but it’s important to be selective. 43% of the *survey respondents admitted to eating more than one dessert during a meal. This isn’t surprising as we sometimes crave sweets when our energy level is taking a dive, but also, in times of stress, we may turn to sweets as a treat or a reward.
As a healthier dessert alternative, try cooking or baking with fruit, like apples, oranges or peaches; or peel some bananas, wrap them in waxed paper and freeze them. You can slice them and eat them or throw them in a blender.

What is Pancreatitis?
Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas. Pancreatitis is an uncommon medical condition which causes acute abdominal pain or discomfort. Acute pancreatitis refers to a condition in which the pancreas gets inflamed (swelled) within a short time of its inflammation. The pancreas is an extremely small gland, usually found behind the stomach, which plays a significant role in digestive function. All people with acute pancreatitis begin to experience relief within a few weeks and typically have no long-term complications.
What causes acute pancreatitis? While it is not clear what triggers the inflammation of the pancreas, most researchers agree that the cause is autoimmune. This means that the pancreas has been attacked by some sort of inflammatory response to some sort of invading microbe or bacterium. There are several potential triggers of pancreatic inflammation. These can be dietary changes, disease, and even environmental factors.
When it comes to the symptoms of acute pancreatitis, they can vary from person to person. Some of these include loss of appetite, weight gain, jaundice, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Some people also experience vomiting and nausea during the acute phase of pancreatitis. It is not uncommon to experience fever while having this condition. In addition to this, you may feel fatigued as well.
Although this is an uncommon medical condition, there are cases in which there are more serious and severe complications. These complications include pancreatic cancer, pancreatic necrosis, and pancreatic stroke. Even though pancreatitis has many favorable features, it is important to know the possible complications before the disease progresses any further.
Pancreatic cancer is often caused by inflammation in the pancreatic ducts and is often diagnosed in advanced stages. This can be treated through surgery. It is important to be aware of the symptoms and treat them early so that this condition can be prevented.
Pancreatic necrosis, or inflammation of the pancreas, is caused by a bacterial infection of the pancreases and can be fatal if left untreated. A person who suffers from this condition will experience intense pain and loss of control. However, this condition is often treated successfully with antibiotics and surgery. As for pancreatic stroke, a person with this condition will likely experience a loss of vision and can also suffer from hallucinations, convulsions, difficulty swallowing and breathing, and loss of muscle tone.
If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of acute pancreatitis, visit your physician right away. He or she will probably recommend that you avoid food until the condition is fully resolved. This can be a difficult decision to make, but you want to avoid further complications of the disease.
Pancreatitis has several symptoms, and it is important to know what each of them is to ensure that you are properly treated. Your physician will be able to evaluate your case and recommend the appropriate treatment for you.
The most common symptoms are loss of appetite, jaundice, and abdominal pain. Since the symptoms of pancreatitis differ from person to person, it is important to seek proper diagnosis and treatment. This means that you need to discuss your symptoms with your doctor so that he or she can make sure that you are indeed suffering from pancreatitis.
Diabetes and gallstones are two conditions that can cause pancreatitis. Gallstones occur when the gallbladder becomes enlarged, so that the bile production increases. When this happens, the gallbladder does not pass bile properly and therefore gallstones are formed. Gallstones cause extreme pain and difficulty swallowing.
Pancreatitis can lead to complications of diabetes and the condition can become even worse. If you experience any symptoms of pancreatitis, your doctor should contact your physician immediately. In fact, if you have pancreatitis and diabetes, it is very important to contact your doctor. The sooner you get diagnosed, the better off you will be in avoiding complications.
If your physician diagnoses you with pancreatitis, the best way to treat the condition is to have yourself monitored by him or her for the pancreatitis symptoms. Once the pancreatitis symptoms subside, you will be better equipped to manage your condition. In some cases, your doctor may recommend a change of medications or an insulin replacement medication to improve your health.

Constipation Treatment Options
by Tammy Jones
Constipation is an unpleasant condition where a person has infrequent or uncomfortable bowel movements. In general, a constipated person is deemed to be mildly constipated if, after passing stool, bowel movements only result in the passing of only very little amounts of dry, hard stool, typically less than three to five times a day.
However, if the bowel movement becomes more frequent and/or occurs during hours when water does not seem to pass through, then constipation may become a real problem. Usually, constipation occurs as a temporary phenomenon caused by stress or emotional upset; but sometimes, it can also result from chronic diarrhea (which occurs for extended periods of time).
Constipation occurs because the muscles in the rectum are relaxed too far. This causes the stool to push against the walls of the colon. It is important to keep the colon’s walls strong. And that is achieved through eating healthy foods rich in fiber and water.
Fiber-rich foods are fruits and vegetables. Fiber can be found in whole grains, nuts, beans, and seeds, and in dried fruits such as papaya.
Water helps flush the stool. You should drink at least eight glasses of water each day to help maintain proper colon health. Water also aids in passing stools when sitting.
If you suffer from constipation symptoms, your doctor may prescribe certain medications. One common medication for constipation is Metoclopramide, which is taken in a pill form. Metoclopramide works by changing the activity of nerve cells in the lower intestine. Another common medication is Methylnaltrexone, which is taken in the form of an injection.
Other herbal remedies can also be used. Examples include Bowtrol, which are available as a liquid supplement, and Diflucan. In addition, there are several natural supplements available on the market containing herbs that have been shown to help treat constipation.
Some people prefer to treat constipation naturally. One such method is called colonic irrigation, in which enema-like instruments are inserted into the rectum to cleanse the colon. Another method is to add some psyllium to the drink of someone who is constipating. And then drinking it.
Other natural remedies that are effective for treating constipation are laxative powder, which is made from wheat grass and other herbs. Laxatives are taken either in the form of an enema or taken orally. When the laxatives are taken orally, it is absorbed by the intestines where they act to relax the muscle walls and allow stool to pass more easily.
Other natural remedies include the use of fiber, a type of supplement that is used to improve the absorption of nutrients in the body. It also aids in the movement of bowels and prevents constipation.
Most laxatives are taken in pill form. However, some doctors recommend the consumption of a liquid laxative with a fiber supplement (like psyllium).
Natural methods do not always work for everyone. However, they can prove very effective in helping to treat some forms of constipation.

What are Your Values and Beliefs?
by LouAnn Moss
In ethical psychology, values refer to the degree to which a person attaches importance to something or activity, with the goal of determining how well a person lives, what kind of actions are right or wrong, or what type of action would be best to carry out in a given circumstance. Values can also be called moral concepts.
Values in ethical psychology are based on a set of theories that explain why we assign particular importance to things and events. These theories can be grouped according to their functional relevance, meaning that they relate to the way in which we evaluate various situations and to the way that we make decisions. The theories on which values are grounded are:
Utilitarianism – This theory states that one should value only those things that are worth having and that bring benefit to other people. The theory is based on the assumption that it is possible to maximize utility or get the most out of a situation by choosing the appropriate actions. Thus, if someone wants to maximize his/her happiness, the person is supposed to prioritize the things that will make him/her happy. Thus, when evaluating the situation, the person considers the results of his/her actions and assigns value to them according to how good they have been.
Neutral Value Theory – On this theory, values are considered neutral and not tied to a person’s desires and needs. People’s values can be based on the results of the actions that they took and, therefore, there is no way to tell whether a person is acting from a good or bad motive. However, this theory does not consider any kind of motivation, so there are no inherent limitations as to the kind of actions that will be recognized as moral or immoral.
Justice and fairness – These two theories describe the extent to which people should act or react according to their own interests. A person acts according to justice when he/she benefits other people. When people are motivated by fairness, they act according to what is morally right.
Basic Ethical Values: These are the beliefs and moral beliefs that a person holds before he/she begins acting. These include principles, rules, and expectations related to how the world should function and the person’s moral responsibility to the environment and the people around him/her. Basic values can also be categorized according to their relationship to morality and utilitarianism. {see how they are related to utilitarianism. For instance, a person’s fundamental value might be derived from his/her moral obligations or from his/her religion.
Utilitarian Value Systems: On this type of system, the main focus is on the effects of actions and the ways in which they will help people. These are also known as consequentialist systems and utilitarianism is an ethical theory that states that a person must give an equal amount of value to both ends. A person has to choose the best way to achieve the outcome and take action in order to attain the ends. It can also be said that utilitarianism is an ethical theory that views the ends and not the means.
Ethics and values are important elements of moral psychology. They serve as the foundation of moral responsibility and a person who have a strong sense of these two principles can be considered a good person to be a part of a moral society and to be respected and valued in his/her community.
There are many moral psychologists who have taken part in the study of morality and ethics. This field has been a big part of psychology for many years now. As these people have worked on morality and ethics for a long time, they have become experts at understanding the concepts related to values and morality. Their findings were used in the development of theories, which were later tested and used in psychology.
If you think that values are important in your life, you might want to become a moral psychologist. However, before you do this, you need to understand more about what values are all about.
Moral Psychology is a field of study, where moral psychologists look at how the world operates and what drives our behavior. There is a lot of information that we can learn about the role of values and the relationship between values and morality. If you are interested, you can find a lot of books, journals, articles, and resources on this topic on the Internet and other resources.

End of Season Pool Care and Safety Tips

Now that the warm summer months are behind us for pool owners it is time to think about shutting the pool down for the winter. A lot of families have above ground pools. I was nedding a vacuum so I ended up getting this one for my above ground pool.
Below are some steps you should take when shutting down your above ground pool along with keeping your family’s safety in mind.
The first thing you should do when closing your pool for the winter months is check the PH level of the water. Add dry acid or soda ash if the PH level is higher or lower than 7.5. You should also raise the chlorine level to 6-10 ppm and add a winterizing product to protect the pool from algae.
You should also leave your pump running for 12 hours. Switch off the skimmer valve and drain the water until it is about six inches below the skimmer bottom to prevent flooding due to rainwater. Clean your summer cover before storing.
If you are expecting freezing temperatures over the winter months place empty chemical containers half full with water into the pool to prevent wall damage before putting your winter cover over the pool.
Make sure that your children are aware that the pool is closed and off limits for the winter. A normal winter pool cover is not sturdy enough to handle the weight of a child or small pet. Remember to keep safety in mind even after your pool is closed. Rainwater and debris can collect on top of an unsafe pool cover which will cause your child to become trapped. Good Safety Pool Covers will allow the rainwater and snow to melt and pass through. These covers are also strong and sturdy so the debris will blow off of the cover. Pool safety is equally important during the winter months as it is in the summer time.

What Causes Heartburn?
Heartburn is similar to the symptoms of a heart attack. Heartburn can be very painful if you do not take precautions to prevent it. Heartburn also feels similar to its name: a sharp burning sensation behind the breastbone, or sternum, in the center of your chest. You may also feel it down your throat as well. You may experience burning pain as you breathe or move your mouth.
Heartburn is caused by a variety of different conditions including acid reflux disease. When there is a build up of stomach acid, food particles, and bile in your esophagus, it causes the acid to back up into your esophagus and damage the lining. The symptoms associated with heartburn are similar to the symptoms of heartburn that occur when the condition is not well controlled. You can have a hard time swallowing or breathing and may experience difficulty in swallowing or breathing. When the symptoms are present, they will not only be uncomfortable but can also cause your digestive system to work improperly. In addition to experiencing the symptoms of heartburn, some people may experience heartburn and other heartburn symptoms at the same time.
If you have been experiencing heartburn symptoms, you may want to consider seeing your doctor. This is especially true if you have ever had a heart attack or any other problems related to your digestive system. Your doctor will be able to determine the type of heartburn that you have and give you advice on what the best treatment plan is for your specific case.
If you are looking for natural remedies for heartburn, you may be wondering which ones are effective and which ones do not. Natural treatments for heartburn do not use medicine as a form of treatment. Instead, these treatments have their own system of treating the problem so that it goes away faster.
An effective natural heartburn treatment that you can use to treat the symptoms of heartburn can include a change in diet. You may need to modify your diet by eliminating certain foods and adding more of them.
Certain foods should be avoided such as onions, caffeine, fried foods, spicy foods, fatty foods, chocolate, citrus fruits, and alcohol. As you make changes to your diet, you will need to make sure you are not eating foods that are high in fat and sugar such as candy, cookies, cakes, and breads. You should also avoid foods that contain a lot of dairy such as cheese, yogurt, ice cream, and milk.
Another great natural heartburn treatment is exercise. Exercise can help strengthen the muscles in your body which will make it easier for your esophagus to naturally digest your food. You will also be reducing stress in the process and therefore reduce the amount of acid that is flowing into your esophagus.
Herbal remedies are another option that can be used to treat heartburn. There are many herbs that are known to treat heartburn such as ginger, mustard seed, slippery elm, and lavender that will aid in the digestion of your food. These herbs are also good for relieving anxiety as well as being an antiseptic.
Herbal remedies can be very effective when it comes to treating your heartburn symptoms. When you use herbal remedies, it is important to remember to always talk with your doctor before taking any type of herbal remedy. Your doctor can tell you if it will be safe for you to use these remedies.
One other natural heartburn treatment that you can try is drinking a lot of water. If you drink a lot of water you will be flushing out the acids and toxins in your stomach making your stomach less acidic and more alkaline. Drinking plenty of water also helps to improve the flow of digestive fluids throughout your body.
As you can see, there are many different things that you can do to treat your heartburn symptoms. The most important thing you can do is to remember to talk with your doctor about your condition to get an idea of what type of treatment is best for you.
When it comes to treating your heartburn you need to make sure that you are using all natural remedies. These treatments will not harm your body and are a safer alternative than medicines that are used to treat heartburn.

Echinacea Benefits for Your Health
by Tammy Jones
Echinacea is actually a group, or genus, of plant-like flowering plants in the coneflower family. The group Echinacea consists of five species, all native to Central and South America.
The genus Echinacea contains ten subspecies, which are collectively called coneflower family. They are typically found only in central and southern North America, which they also grow in dry, sandy prairie and open wooded land areas. It is thought that the first Echinacea specimen ever recorded was from the Azores Islands, in the western Pacific.
As far as the plant’s medicinal value is concerned, very little is known about its natural properties. One of the most commonly known Echinacea uses is for treating the common cold. It is believed that Echinaceans, also known as water birds, are able to absorb the virus that causes the common cold in the lungs and bloodstream. Some researchers believe that the water birds may also be able to fight off the effects of the cold by stimulating the production of antibodies and making the body to produce more white blood cells to combat the symptoms of colds.
Another widely used Echinacea use is for treating irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel disease, eczema, migraine headaches, arthritis, and other conditions, such as insomnia. Echinacea can also help in relieving the pain caused by arthritis. In addition, it is believed to have a calming effect on the nervous system and the digestive system.
The most common side effects that have been reported with Echinacea use are headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, chest pain, nausea, upset stomach, difficulty swallowing, constipation, and diarrhea. Because it is possible for some people to experience allergic reactions to some types of Echinacea, it is important that you take Echinacea exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. In some rare cases, Echinacea can cause skin allergies.
Echinaceas are available in many different forms, including capsules, drops, powders, gels, and tablets. You should talk to your physician before beginning any type of treatment with Echinacea.
In most cases, Echinaceas are taken in conjunction with other medications for your particular illness or condition. Before you start using an Echinacea supplement, discuss the potential side effects of the treatment with your health care provider to determine the safest course of action.
Echinaceas come in both prescription and over the counter varieties and should not be used for treatments for diseases that are not related to the immune system. If you have a serious health problem, you should speak with your health-care provider to determine the safest possible course of treatment for you. Remember, Echinaceas is powerful medicine, but they have side effects that need to be considered.
A health care provider can help you find a safe combination of medication and Echinacea supplements to treat your particular condition. For example, if you are experiencing pain from a wound or infection, your health care provider will be able to recommend a treatment that will target the cause and reduce or eliminate the pain.
Echinacea helps your immune system. Your health care provider may suggest you take Echinacea along with a daily multivitamin or may also be able to prescribe an Echinacea supplement for you.
Before taking Echinacea, check with your health care provider to make sure that you are healthy enough to safely use Echinacea and will not interact with other medications or vitamins. Echinacea can interact with certain drugs, so it is important that you speak to your doctor about this before you begin taking any kind of treatment with Echinacea.
Many people find that Echinacea supplements are very useful in relieving or eliminating symptoms of common colds and flu. When choosing Echinacea products, make sure to read the labels carefully to make sure that the product is appropriate for your specific symptoms and allergies. Make sure to follow the instructions of the directions on the label to avoid any harmful interactions with medications you are currently taking.

What is Child Abuse?
by LouAnn Moss
What is Child Abuse? Child abuse occurs when someone, usually the parent, abuses a physically or emotionally vulnerable child. The abuse may include hitting, slapping, or beating a child with a clenched fist, a belt buckle, or a blunt object.
Physical Abuse occurs when an adult hits a child in any way to physically harm him/her. This form of abuse includes anything from slapping, punching, kicking, choking, shoving, hitting with an object, or even slapping a child so hard that the child will suffer serious injuries. If a parent doesn’t want their child to suffer physical abuse, then it’s important that they learn to recognize the signs of abuse. Here are some common signs of physical abuse:
Screaming: Screaming when you are disciplining your child can be very disturbing and hard to understand if the child is very young. A child may be screaming for no reason, or crying because he/she is hurting himself or herself. However, the problem is that if the parent is not aware of the reason for the screaming, then the child may continue his/her cry for hours until the parent discovers the reason why the child is screaming.
Ear Waxing: Usually children who have undergone ear waxing will still scream after they have been waxed. If the wax continues to come out of the child’s ears even after the wax has been removed, it is likely that the child has been waxed because the child is still unaware of why he/she is screaming.
Biting: Many times children who are abused can bite their parent or another child at times. The reason for this behavior is to get attention, but the child may also be afraid of getting hurt and does this to make himself/herself look smaller.
Fighting: If children have problems at home, then it is possible that they are being subjected to physical violence or are acting out during fights with other children. It may be hard for parents to tell if their children are being abused, because children often fight to get attention. Therefore, many times parents are unaware of any signs of physical abuse.
Sexual Abuse: Another sign that a parent may not know about is sexual abuse, if the sexual abuse has happened while a family member is present. In this case, the victim will always act as if the abuser is still around. And will make the abuser believe that he/she is still in control of the situation and will never leave.
It’s important to note that not all signs of child abuse happen at once. If one or more of these signs is present, then it is very important for the parents to contact a law enforcement agency and have an investigator to talk to the child, his/her teachers and any other individuals that may have witnessed the abuse.
Child Behavior Disorder: If the child’s behavior is consistently inappropriate and they do not understand why they are doing what they are doing, it is likely that the child has a disorder that needs treatment. Children with these disorders can be very difficult to help and there may not be a lot that the parents can do to stop the disorder.
The abuse often begins at home. The child may be physically abused, mentally abused, emotionally abused, verbally abused, or financially abused. The abuse can continue into adulthood if the child does not receive treatment.
If the child’s treatment is not successful, then the child may have to go through counseling to deal with the abuse. The child may be sent to live with a relative or foster parent, or may be placed in an orphanage where the child can live with people who are more familiar to them.
Child abuse and neglect have been known to continue throughout the lives of children, especially in the later years of their life. The best way to ensure that children are treated with respect and dignity is for the parents to make sure that the parents understand what the signs of child abuse are.
