Anti-Aging Supplements for Busy Moms

by Cascia Talbert

Could This Anti-Aging Supplement be Too Good to Be True for Busy Moms?

Now that I am in my forties I am feeling the effects of the aging process on my body.  I have less energy and my metabolism is slowing down.  I still need to keep up with my active young children.  Busy moms like myself often wish there was a miracle cure to slow down the aging process. I would love to just wave a magic wand and become 30 again.

When I was 30 I exercised more, my hair wasn’t as gray and I was strong enough to carry around two babies at once, one on each hip.  Magic wands do not exist but anti-aging supplements that claim to give you more energy and feel youthful again do.  Do these supplements actually work? Is it worth it for busy moms to invest time and money into taking an anti-aging supplement?

I did some research and tried out a new anti-aging supplement from Neurohacker.  The results may surprise you. First I will explain what supplements actually work to combat the aging process.

Eternus

If you truly want to reverse time and look and feel younger you must take supplements that help your overall health, skin, energy, the aging process and brain function.

Overall Health Supplements for Anti-Aging

Take a good multivitamin.  Women’s multivitamins usually contain vitamins, A, C, D and E as well as niacin, B vitamins, folate and zinc.  Some women’s multivitamins may also contain calcium and traces of other minerals.  Busy moms don’t always get the proper nutrition from food. Taking a good multivitamin will help supplement your diet and give you the energy you need to keep up with your children.

The average cost of good women’s multivitamins is roughly thirty cents per dose. You can get a month’s supply for under $10.

Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D

Our bones shrink as we age. Women especially need extra calcium every day for strong bones.  Take a supplement that also includes Vitamin D. Vitamin D  helps keep bones strong  by assisting your body in the absorption of calcium. It also improves muscle strength. Children also need Vitamin D to build strong bones, and adults need it to keep their bones strong and healthy. Magnesium can also help your body absorb calcium.

Magnesium is roughly 18 cents per dose. You can get a month’s supply for under six dollars. Calcium with Vitamin D sells for about ten cents per dose.  You can get a two month supply for six dollars.

Hair Skin and Nails Supplement

If you want to look younger it is important that you take a good hair, skin and nails supplement. These supplements usually contain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients for healthy hair, skin and nails plus Biotin, an important B Vitamin that supports skin and hair health. You can get a good hair skin and nails formula for about seven cents per dose. That is roughly five dollars for a two months supply.

Omega 3 Fish Oil

Taking a fish oil supplement high in omega 3 helps you stay healthy and young in many ways. Omega 3 fatty acids improve heart function, help your brain stay sharp, regulate mood, support good mental health, keep your hair and skin look healthy and young and can boost your immune system.

A good fish oil supplement will cost about 16 cents per dose.  That is less than five dollars for a month supply.

These are the only supplements that you will need to stay healthy and look and feel younger. Below is the total cost breakdown for a one month supply of the above supplements.

Women’s Multi: $10

Magnesium: $6

Calcium with Vitamin D: $3

Hair Skin and Nails Supplement: $2.50

Omega 3 Fish Oil: $5

Total Cost:  $26.50

You only have to spend $30 a month on nutritional supplements to combat aging, look younger, feel younger and stay healthy for your children.

What about the supplement we spoke about in the beginning of this article?

Eternus by Neurohacker contains more than enough ingredients to fight the aging process. In fact it has too many expensive supplements in the formula.  It probably works great to reverse the aging process, but it is impracticable for busy moms on a budget.  Check out the supplement facts label below.

Eternus Supplement Facts

On the box it states, “Suggested Use: Take 8 capsules with at least 8 ounces of water in the morning with food.”

Eight capsules?? Are you kidding? I have never ever seen this kind of dose recommendation on a supplement box before. A formula like this should be in a powder that you mix with a beverage, not as a vegetarian capsule. The label also says that there are only five servings in the bottle. Eternus sells for $139 at neurohacker.com for a one month supply. This is way too expensive for busy moms on a budget.

If you have the money and combating the aging process takes priority in your life, then go ahead spend $140 on a supplement that requires you to take eight capsules at once. I would prefer to stick with my five go-to supplements and spend only $30 a month.  It also takes less time to swallow five capsules than eight.

CBD Oil : Information for Busy Moms

by Cascia Talbert

CBD oil, such as THC free broad spectrum CBD oil,  is all the rage right now. People claim that it can heal nearly every ailment.  We researched and answered the top questions moms ask about CBD oil. The below information should help you decide if taking a CBD supplement will help you or your child feel better. It’s also important to go to the right CBD store for safe and quality products.

What is CBD Oil and Where Does it Come From?

In 1940, Cannabidiol also known as CBD, was discovered.  There are 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants. CBD is one of those and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract.  Researches in 2018 studied the effects of cannabidiol on anxiety, cognition, movement disorders, and pain.

Hemp contains most of the CBD people use medicinally. Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant, Cannabis sativa, but the two are very different. Marijuana contains the cannabinoid THC, while hemp does not.

For many years marijuana farmers have bred their plants so that they contain high levels of THC and other compounds. They did this because the compounds produced a smell or and another effect on the plant’s flowers. However, hemp farmers rarely modify their plants. CBD oil comes from hemp plants.

How is CBD Oil Made?

To start, cbd oil manufacturers select a hemp source, like this CBD Flower, that is high in CBD. This builds the yields just as quality. Those  in the industry have created restrictive strains of cannabis or hemp. Their specific strains convey a uniqueness to their products that intrigue customers.

Entire Plant Extraction

The plants are developed and afterward sent for extraction. Some CBD oil-based items originate from entire plants. Others are obtained from specific parts of the plant. Entire plant extraction is simple. The whole plant is a piece of the procedure. Those in the medicinal communities lean toward this strategy. They trust that a more extensive range of cannabinoids yields amid entire plant extraction. As indicated by therapeutic pros, catching the whole cannabinoid range animates the endocannabinoid framework. They consider this the “company impact.”

Disconnects Extraction

CBD disconnects are unadulterated CBD. These mixes rely upon the CBD’s viability just as the nature of the hemp strain where it began.

Alcohol Extraction

Makers can separate entire plant CBD oil is a few different ways. Alcohol extraction is one way.

Absorbing Alcohol

To remove, you splash the hemp plant in a dissolvable, for example, grain liquor. After the material splashes, the staying fluid contains CBD and the different cannabinoids from the gasp. When you take away the dissolvable, the CBD hemp oil remains. The oil is then prepared to either consume or add to edible items. Business makers have received and adjusted Mr. Simpson’s strategy. CBD hemp oil makers use ethanol to extricate CBD.

Roto-Vap

In the wake of absorbing ethanol, the CBD-filled ethanol arrangement travels through a procedure called a “Roto-Vap.” The Roto-Vap warms the ethanol. The Roto-Vap then catches the ethanol for reuse later. CBD oil is separated from the enthanol.

CO2 Extraction

Another approach to remove CBD from cannabis or hemp is with CO2. This strategy expects you to compel CO2 through the plant to extricate the oil. This procedure is increasingly perplexing. It requires some aptitude and a larger number of apparatuses than the liquor extraction strategy.

You need a progression of chambers for CO2 extraction. Their job is to control weight and temperature. The weight and temperature in the chambers drive the CO2 cannabinoid answer for respond with each other and after that different. As the cannabinoids isolated, the chambers gather them independently. The extractor would then be able to pick which cannabinoids to put into their products.

Enhancing and Dilution

Removing CBD from the hemp plant is only one piece of the procedure for making CBD hemp oil. Separated CBD oil is not exactly satisfactory. On the off chance that the buyer’s longing is to make CBD oil some portion of their regular everyday practice, makers attempt to make the oil no less than somewhat scrumptious. Likewise, purchasers require a decision with regards to the item’s intensity, or the quality of the CBD oil-based item. Makers at that point need to weaken the crude CBD oil to oblige their necessities.

Can You Make Your Own CBD Oil?

Yes you can. Using a flammable solvent to extract the oil from home is dangerous and the Healthy Moms Magazine strongly discourages this.  Below are some much safer ways to make you own CBD oil from home.

Luigi L. Romano and Arno Hazekamp evaluated the efficacy and purity of cannabis extraction solvents in 2013.  They studied ethanol, naphtha (a harsh industrial poison that should be avoided), and olive oil.  Romano and Hazekamp determined that the efficiency between all the solvents was very similar, but noted that olive oil, a nontoxic solvent, was better at extracting terpenes along with the cannabinoids.  Hazekamp also concluded that, “You won’t blow yourself up making cannabis-infused olive oil.”

Olive oil extraction of CBD oil is simple and inexpensive like cbd tincture.  What’s more, you can do it without anyone’s help. Warming the plant in a broiler will decarboxylate the cannabinoids, transforming THCA into THC and CBDA into CBD. Soak the bloom and leaves in the olive oil; at that point filter, strain, and separate the oil based to what’s left side of the herb. Cannabis-injected olive oil — regardless of whether CBD-rich or THC-predominant — is parishable and ought to be put away in a cool, dark spot so it doesn’t spoil.

You can also remove CBD from cannabis by utilizing other lipid solvents, including avocado, coconut or MCT [medium chain triglyceride] oil. Hemp seed oil is another viable extraction dissolvable and a bearer vehicle that blends well with CBD.

However, be cautioned about CBD product manufacturers that claim they get their CBD from hemp seeds.

What are the Benefits and Uses of CBD Oil?

CBD oil has been studied and may be an effective treatment for chronic pain, inflammation, gut health, treating seizures, easing anxiety and depression, alleviate cancer-related symptoms, may reduce acne, help with neurological disorders, and could help with heart health.

CBD Oil for Chronic Pain

Marijuana has been used for pain management as far back as 2900 B.C.

Recently, researchers have found that specific segments of Marijuana, including CBD, can soothe pain.

Studies have demonstrated that CBD may help lessen chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters.

For instance, one study in rodents found that CBD infusions reduced the pain response to surgical incisions, while another study on rats found that oral CBD treatment  decreased sciatic nerve pain and inflammation.

A few human studies have discovered that a mix of CBD and THC is powerful in treating pain associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) and arthritis.

An oral spray called Sativex, which is a mix of THC and CBD, is endorsed in a few countries to treat pain identified with MS.

In an investigation of 47 individuals with MS, those treated with Sativex for one month encountered a huge improvement in pain, walking and muscle fits, contrasted with the placebo group.

Another investigation found that Sativex altogether improved pain in 58 individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.

CBD Oil for Inflammation

A few studies have demonstrated that CBD oil can help reduce inflammation. That’s because CBD oilhas immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties.   CBD can likewise be utilized as a remedial guide for oxidative stress related conditions. It helps with the inflammation associated with, conditions like rheumatoid artharitis and Alzheimer’s.

Fundamentally, CB2 receptors structure some portion of the body’s endocannabinoid system. What’s more, CB2 receptors are normally associated with the human body’s immunity. CBD works by initiating the CB2 receptors. This means that CBD can be used to ease chronic pain and inflammation which is common in many conditions.

CBD Oil for Gut Health

There have been several studies on how CBD oil improves gut health and helps treat  gastrointestinal issues such as IBD, IBS and Chron’s.  A study conducted in 2011 by the Department of Experimental Pharmacology, University of Naples FEDERICO II, Naples, Italy, discovered that cannabidiol reduces intestinal inflammation through the control of neuroimmune axis.

CBD oil has shown to diminish the spasticity of the digestion tracts while increasing hunger, which is two major side effects of numerous stomach related problems. CBD relieves cramping that accompanies a contracted digestive tract.  When the calming properties of CBD;  has joined itself to the cannabinoid receptors that can be found in the digestive organs, the cramping eases and bowel movements are more regular.

CBD Oil for Treating Seizures

According to the Epilepsy Foundation, there have been several studies in the United States on the effects of the drug Epidiolex (a plant-based CBD formulation), in the treatment of seizures. Data from these studies has helped provide evidence that led to the FDA approval of this product on June 25, 2018.

One study showed that the addition of CBD to a traditional seizure medication decreased the frequency of drop seizures significantly in children and adults.  Another study used a product that had 20 parts of CBD to 1 part of THC. This was given in an open-label format for children up to age 18 years with hard to control epilepsy. A significant number of people reported seizure reduction with 7% stated seizures worsened.

CBD Oil for Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and depression are the most common mental health disorders in the United States.  According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year. It is not uncommon for people with anxiety to also have depression.

Anxiety and depression are usually treated with prescription medication.  There are many side effects to taking prescriptions to treat any mental disorder.  This is why many people are turning to natural remedies like CBD oil.

Several studies have been conducted on the effects of CBD oil on patients with depression or anxiety.  In one study, 24 people with social anxiety disorder received either 600 mg of CBD or a placebo before a public speaking test.

The group that took the CBD had a lot less anxiety, discomfort and cognitive impairment than the group that took the placebo.

In animal studies CBD oil has shown to have antidepressant-like side effects.  CBD helps the brain produce serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and behavior.

CBD Oil for Cancer Patients

Studies have shown that CBD may help reduce cancer related symptoms and side effects from treatments. These include, nausea, vomiting and pain.

One study looked at 177 people with cancer-related pain who didn’t experience pain relief from medication.  They were either given CBD with THC or just the THC extract. Those treated with the extract containing both CBD and THC experienced a greater reduction in pain compared to the group that was given just the THC.

CBD may also help reduce chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.  Prescription medication to treat these side effects don’t always work.  In a recent study, 16 people undergoing chemotherapy found that a one-to-one combination of CBD and THC administered with a mouth spray reduced chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting better than prescription medication.

CBD Oil for Acne

There’s lots of emerging research on CBD for skin. Applied topically as a CBD facial moisturizer,  CBD may help clear up acne breakouts and other skin conditions.  Due to CBD oil’s anti-inflammatory properties and it’s ability to adjust how the body creates sebum.

Sebum is an oily, waxy substance the skin makes.  Sebum helps protect our skin from the outside world. However, it can mix with dead skin cells, dirt, or other pollutants and become trapped inside a pore. This clogged pore then becomes acne.

In 2014 a study was conducted on the effects of CBD on human sebocytes, which are the cells that create sebum. The scientists discovered that the CBD prevented these cells from creating too much sebum.

CBD Oil for Neurological Disorders

Scientists believe that CBD’s ability to act on the endocannabinoid system and other systems related to brain function may benefit those with neurological disorders.

Researchers have studied the use of CBD in treating epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. Even though these studies are recent the results are very promising.

CBD has also been shown to effectively treat symptoms related to Parkinson’s disease and slow the progression of Alzheimer’s.

CBD Oil for Heart Health

Research has concluded that CBD may be a natural and effective treatment for high blood pressure. One study looked at 10 healthy men.  They were given one dose of 600 mg of CBD oil and found that it reduced resting blood pressure.

In that same study researchers also gave the men stress tests that normally would increase their blood pressure.  The dose of CBD led the men to experience a smaller increase in blood pressure than if they did not take the CBD before the stress test.

Studies with animals showed that CBD may help reduce the inflammation and cell death associated with heart disease due to it’s antioxidant and stress-reducing properties.

How do You Take CBD Oil?

CBD oil comes in many different forms. Each one has a different concentration of CBD and other phytocannabinoids. If you’re looking for a wide range of high quality CBD products, like edibles, CBD isolate, and more, you should shop from Fresh Bros. Below are a few options to consider.

Liquid CBD oil like tinctures or drops such as Canna River Mandarin Tincture 5000mg CBD CBD as a thick pasteCBD capsulesPhytocannabinoid-rich sprays or spritzersBottled water containing very small CBD particlesCBD- infused chewing gumDissolvable powders containing CBDCooking oils with added cannabinoidsCBD infused edibles like gummies, brownies, candy or cookiesSmokables, like eLiquids or vape cartridgesBath bombs infulsed with CBDCannabidioil-infused salves, balms, lotions, shampoos or soapsIs CBD Oil Safe for Children?

The Food and Drug Adminstration approved the first Cannabis-derived drug to treat Lennox-Gastout syndrome and Dravet syndrome, two rate and severe forms of epilepsy in June of 2018.

The drug known as Epidiolex contains highly purified CBD and is approved for patients two years and older. According to the FDA CBD is safe for children. Epidiolex does have side effects. During the clinical trials of the drug researchers learned that patients experienced sleepiness, lethargy, elevated liver enzymes, decreased appetite, diarrhea, rash, insomnia, sleep disorders and infections.   Debilitating seizures are far worse than the side effects associated with Epidiolex.

Doctors are still learning about how or why CBD is effective at treating certain medical conditions. There is an increased interest in the medical field on how CBD can help health conditions, especially in children.

Because pure CBD does not contain THC it does not produce any psychoactive effects.  The American Pediatric Association opposes medical marijuana outside the FDA regulatory process. They believe that it harms adolescent health and development. But they do support the compassionate use of THC products for children with debilitating conditions.

If you want to know if CBD is a good option to treat your child’s medical condition consult with your doctor first.

How Much Does CBD Oil Cost?

CBD oil is expensive and might not be within the budget of most middle class busy moms. However, we found some fantastic brands and options that are more affordable and worth the purchase. Many can be found at a medical marijuana dispensary. If you are planning on vaping cbd oil, then consider getting a 200mg disposable vape pen to get started. For those who are already experienced with vaping, consider using some cool hookah accessories

Is CBD Oil Regulated by the Government?

In the United States the legal status of CBD oil depends on which part of the plant it is processed from.  When it comes from the marijuana it is a Schedule I controlled substance under the Federal Controlled Substances Act.  This is because the government defines marijuana (spelled “marihuana”) includes “all parts” of the cannabis plant. However, if CBD is made from hemp or other lawful source it is not a controlled substance. The government defines hemp as the “plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”  According to the Controlled Substances Act, hemp is excluded from the definition of marijuana, therefore CBD oil derived from hemp is legal in all 50 states.

The difference between hemp and marijuana is simple.  They come from the same plant, cannabis.  Marijuana contains the cannabinoid THC, which causes the “high” people get from smoking weed. But, hemp does not contain THC.

Should Busy Moms Add CBD Oil to Their Medicine Cabinet?

The Healthy Moms Magazine recommends that busy moms only take CBD oil if they are in chronic pain, suffering from severe anxiety, insomnia or it was suggested by their doctor. Always talk to a doctor first before taking CBD oil or giving it to your child.

How Healthy is your Salad?

by Susan Bowerman, M.S., RD, CSSD, CSOWM, FAND – Senior Director, Worldwide Nutrition Education and Training, Herbalife Nutrition Susan

Did you know May is National Salad Month?  With winter officially behind us; the warmer temperatures typically bring an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits, so it is the perfect time to start planning colorful, tasty and healthy meals. While a salad often seems like the right choice to keep us on track for our health goals, sometimes salads may not be as healthy as one would think.

Registered dietitian Susan Bowerman, of Herbalife Nutrition, shares three things to look for to ensure you’re only eating the healthiest of salads:

Ditch the fatty proteins.

Avoid anything “crispy” or “fried” in your salad and opt for grilled chicken, shrimp or fish. Foods like sausages or fatty cold cuts should be avoided.

Avoid high-fat extras.

Cheese, bacon, fried tortilla strips, crispy fried noodles, sour cream, and oily croutons are all popular salad fixings, but they can hike up the calorie and fat content of your salad higher than that of a cheeseburger! You may want to rethink them.

Choose dressings wisely.

Salad dressings can be a quick way to undo the nutritional value of your healthy salad. Creamy or cheesy dressings can cost you 75 calories per tablespoon and more often than not we’re consuming far more than that on a salad, whether at home and especially at restaurants. Choosing lighter vinaigrette over creamy dressings will save you some calories. The fork-dip method is also a great way to limit the amount of dressing you consume. Just dip your fork into the dressing, take a stab at your salad, and repeat.

For more tips from Susan, visit www.IAMHerbalifeNutrition.com.

How to Combine Learning and Fun

by Family Features

5 tips to keep kids’ brains active and avoid the summer slide

(Family Features) Summer break provides a chance for kids to cut loose and enjoy the freedom of a less structured schedule. However, as parents and teachers know well, months away from academic pursuits can make for a rocky start to a new school year come fall.

During the time when students lose some of the achievement gains they made during the school year, known as the “summer slide,” parents can help kids avoid this learning recession and stay engaged with these tips and ideas from the experts at KinderCare.

Read and learn as a family. Research from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education shows that spending time reading and writing as a family and encouraging kids to read on their own has a bigger impact on preventing summer slide than any other activity. Find books, poems or even museum display cards that correlate to places you see or visit during the summer. Take turns reading a chapter book with an older child or start a new series to read together.

Don’t forget math. Over the summer, math skills often fall by the wayside, according to Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Experts recommend getting creative to prevent math learning loss. For instance, ask children to help add prices in the grocery store or assist in measuring and counting while cooking together in the kitchen. Math can also be part of outdoor play. Children of all ages can count objects they find outside, like the number of trees in the neighborhood or the number of rocks collected on a nature walk. If it’s too hot to go outside, count and sort items like blocks or toys by shape, size and color indoors.

Get up, get out and get moving. One of the healthiest uses of summer time is free and available to all: nature. According to research by North Carolina State University’s Natural Learning Initiative, kids who spend more time playing outside are better creative problem solvers and have improved focus and cognitive skills. Outdoor play can be adventurous, like hiking, or it can be simple, like a backyard scavenger hunt for certain leaves, flowers or bugs.

Resist the urge to let screens do the work. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that parents balance the need for media literacy with reasonable limits on screen time. For children over the age of 2, one hour of screen time is enough. For children under 18 months, screen time should be discouraged. Between 18-24 months, high-quality educational media is appropriate when supervised by parents.

Encourage social and emotional development. Researchers from the University of Chicago and Northwestern University have found that students lose around 7% of their progress in social interpersonal skills for each month they are out of school, likely caused by children spending less time around their peers. Scheduling play dates or enrolling children in summer programs can help offset the backslide by helping children build friendships, increase self-confidence and model independence.

Learn more about how you can prevent summer slide through fun, educational summer activities and programs in your area at KinderCare.com.

Careers for Moms Looking to Help Future Generations

by Guest Author

There’s no doubt about it — being a parent is an incredibly fulfilling job. It isn’t easy, but little else provides the same sense of satisfaction as teaching your children about the wide world around them and guiding their decisions as they move through that world.

As your children become more independent and rely on you for practical matter less and less often, you may find that your days seem a little empty. Plenty of moms decide to go back to school and pursue their own degree, once their children are in junior high or high school and some even decide to continue their education as soon as their child enters kindergarten.

Are you in the same position? Are you itching to challenge your brain and put your talents to work to help your children’s generation, and those to follow? If so, take a look at this list we’ve compiled, of the best ways to help future generations while embarking on a rewarding career.

Teaching

Perhaps the first career that you think of, when considering ways to “pay it forward,” is teaching. After all, you’ve got plenty of experience as a teacher, even if you haven’t ever done it for pay. All parents are teachers, and the skills you have developed while raising your own children will be put to good use if you decide to pursue this professional path.

And don’t forget that there are many ways to teach. You can get a Bachelor’s degree in education and teach public school or private school. It’s not always necessary to be certified to teach, either. Teachers need aides and paraprofessionals. Or you can lecture at the college or university level once you’ve reached a particular juncture in your own career.

There are plenty of positions that require teaching skills, but that do not follow a traditional teaching career path. You can be a private high school tutoring instructor or work with adult students, teaching English as a second language to immigrants. You can teach piano or guitar out of your home, or you can give cooking classes at a local continuing education facility or maker space.

A Career in Public Health

Public health is another field that offers a wide variety of occupations. One thing they all have in common is that they are concerned with preventing disease, promoting human health and well-being, and prolonging human life.

While doctors, nurses, physicians’ assistants, paramedics, and other medical personnel have a hands-on role in helping people become and stay healthy, public health jobs are usually behind the scenes.

Many of these positions involve a component of education; others center on research, communications, public policy, project management, statistics, and administration. After earning an online public health degree, you could go on to work in such capacities as:

A healthcare administratorAn epidemiologistA public health analystA scientific researcherA social or human service workerA community health educator

Depending on the path you choose, you could work directly with members of the public, in an advisory or administrative capacity, or in a research position that has little to no contact with the public.

Nutrition

If you have children, you probably go to great lengths to make sure that the foods they eat are not only appetizing, but also wholesome and nutritious. And if you enjoy that challenge, perhaps you would make a good dietician or nutritionist.

What we eat and drink has a direct impact on us — not just on our bodies and physical health, but also on our emotions, our cognitive abilities, and our overall well-being. Helping others learn how to eat well, often on a budget or with dietary challenges, is therefore a career that is very forward thinking.

As with the other career paths we’ve discussed in this article, becoming a dietician can lead to a number of rewarding positions. You could help design the menus for public institutions, teach classes in basic nutrition, teach children how to love healthy food, mentor individuals, create educational materials or public information campaigns, or even work with a sports team to maximize the athletes’ food intake.

Final Thoughts

Naturally, these careers are just a few out of the many ways there are to impact future generations. One good piece of advice for a mom looking to get an education and re-enter the workforce is to find something you really enjoy and are passionate about, and then seek out opportunity to turn that passion into a career. For example, if you’re passionate towards computers and websites, you can learn more about becoming a web designer.

Are you considering going back to school when your children are older? What career would you choose, if you could do anything at all? Leave a comment below and start a conversation!

Easy Ways to Improve Security in Your Neighborhood

by Cascia Talbert

We all want to keep our neighborhood as safe as possible. Fortunately, there are lots of easy ways to play your part in doing this, such as adding security services to your home. Here are the most important of them.

Use signage

This may surprise you but it is possible to deter thieves using a sign. Studies show that thieves are put off by beware of the dog, CCTV, and neighborhood watch signs.

They see all of these as a signal that the people in the area are alert, ready to work together and know how to deal effectively with any trouble. House breakers hate having to deal with dogs. Even small ones make a lot of noise, which attracts attention and can lead to the police being called.

Know your neighbors

Knowing your neighbors and their habits will help you to spot when something is wrong. It also makes it easier to find someone to keep an eye on your home when you are on vacation or at work. So, if there is a block party, be sure to attend.

Keep your neighborhood tidy

Vandals are far less likely to target a clean and tidy neighborhood. This has been proven time and time again by numerous studies.

If acts of vandalism should occur, get things cleaned up as quickly as possible. Provided you keep on doing that, the vandals soon get frustrated and move on.

Use anti-vandal paint

Using anti-vandal paint on walls and fences that run alongside the road is also a good idea. It also makes it far easier to clean up if you do happen to be targeted by vandals.

Improve the lighting

Making sure that the lighting on your street is in good repair is important. Thieves and vandals prefer to act unseen. So, street lighting can put them off. It is also a good idea to put up some lights in your yard. If you are worried about the cost of running them just install the type that only come on when movement is detected.

Install CCTV

CCTV puts most troublemakers off. They do not want to get caught, so will normally go elsewhere. Warding off criminals with a security system installation is always the smartest choice.

When deciding what type to install, check out local rules and regulations. In some places, you can only record what happens on your property. So, you may need to adjust your cameras or Cctv Security System, so they do not film the street. Increase your home security with powerlift hydraulic doors.

Support your local neighborhood watch group

If you live in an area with an active neighborhood watch group, do your best to support them. Even if you do not have the time to go on the patrols you can still provide financial support to enable them to buy equipment like torches, panic alarms and other useful items. You can even gather enough funds to hire a security guard that would guide and accompany your watchers

Make it look like you are home

Thieves will target streets that have lots of houses that look empty. So, the more people who set up timer lights to make it look like they are at home even when they are not the better it is for everyone. You can go online to learn the right way to use lights to mimic human activity and buy smart lights that can easily be programmed or controlled remotely.

Is CBD Oil Safe During Pregnancy?

by Cascia Talbert

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil, also known as cannabidiol, is a very popular remedy in 2019. Many people use it to help them sleep, as a pain reliever, and to according to the Incredible Things blog post to treat anxiety and depression in humans and animals.  Is CBD oil safe to take during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

When you are pregnant anything you ingest will affect your baby.  That is why pregnant women need to be careful about everything that they put in their bodies, breathe in or absorb on their skin.

CBD oil comes from the cannabis plant. Unlike marijuanna, CBD oil or a CBD cream comes from cannabis plants that do not contain high levels of the mind altering compound THC.  For this reason CBD oil is considered a lot safer.  In place of THC, the hemp plant has more concentration of cannabinoids that are very helpful to the functioning of the body. The cannabis plant without high levels of THC, also known as hemp, is legal in legal in most countries and safe for elderly people, children, and even pets. Uncomfortable pregnancy symptoms (which can be averted with IVF) can be treated with CBD oil, however many people still have their reservations about it.

Are There Risks Associated with CBD Oil During Pregnancy?

A lot of people that are against taking CBD oil for pregnancy believe that it is too risky. They claim that not enough studies have been conducted on the side effects and health risks to the baby.  People that are for the use of CBD oil during pregnancy state that it is a safe and natural way to ease anxiety pain and depression. They argue that it is safer than taking a prescription medication.

Recent studies have shown that Marijuana adversely affects the endocannabinoid system, which is the system responsible for the creation of neurons and building brain pathways in the unborn baby’s brain. Because of this, The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has explicitly recommended the discontinuation of Marijuana use in pregnant women and lactating mothers. The government does not regulate CBD oil. This is the main reason why the ACOG does not recommend its use. Most Obstetricians and Gynecologists believe taking CBD oil while pregnant is a huge risk.

As stated previously, CBD oil comes from plants without high levels of THC.  This make the supplement much safer for pregnant women. It may be okay for you to take CBD oil during pregnancy, but make sure you discuss it with your doctor first.

Safe Ways to Take CBD Oil During Pregnancy

Oil, cbd body lotion and capsules containing 100%  hemp extracts are the safest way to ingest CBD during pregnancy. Hemp oil is safe and legal in all 50 states. It is also widely available even in states where marijuana isn’t legal.

Avoid products that state “CBD Rich.”  Most likely they contain trace amounts of THC. Pregnant women should not consume any THC.  Pregnant women should also avoid smoking and products with potentially hazardous chemicals. It is best to stay away from edibles and anything that you make yourself.

Does CBD Oil Help Ease Pregnany-Related Nausea?

Half of pregnant women experience nausea, also known as morning sickness. A recent study showed that cannabinoids may ease nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy.  Some women claim that taking CBD oil right away  immediately relieves morning sickness. CBD may reduce nausea by interacting with serotonin receptors.

Is CBD Oil Safe While Breastfeeding?

One out of 1 out of every 7 women experience postpartum depression.  Many new moms have an interest in taking CBD oil because it helps with anxiety and depression. Only 15% of women get treated for their postpartum depression.  Many doctors do not screen for the condition. Women with postpartum depression have a harder time bonding with their babies.  Many of these children grow up with psychological problems when they get older.

The women that are treated for their postpartum depression are usually prescribed anti-depressants. These drugs may or may not help but are safe for breastfeeding moms.  Many of them also come with negative side effects such as weight gain, insomnia and diarrhea.

Research on CBD and Nursing Mothers

Unfortunately there isn’t enough scientific research on the effects of CBD for nursing mothers. But there have been studies on expectant and breastfeeding mothers and THC.   A 2014 study by Gunn et al. discovered that  women who used cannabis during pregnancy had an increase in the odds of anemia  compared with women who did not use cannabis during pregnancy. Infants exposed to cannabis in utero had a decrease in birth weight.  The results concluded that women shouldn’t smoke marijuana while pregnant.

Several studies on breast milk and CBD have been conducted.  They all determined that breast milk contains the same cannabinoids found in the marijuana plant and they are crucial for correct human development. Scientists are still researching relation to cannabinoids in breast milk. It is known that cannabinoids adhere easily to fat, which is abundant in breast milk. Today scientists are investigating whether the exposure of cannabis to the mother while brestfeeding has any relevance in the transmission of active components in the plant to newborns.

Due to the lack of research on how CBD effects breastfeeding mothers and their newborns it is not recommended that lactating moms take this supplement.

Can You use Topical CBD While Pregnant?

CBD creams are used to treat pain associated with arthritis, back pain, and sore muscles.  CBD cream or hemp oil cream, can also help treat acne. Many pregnant women experience muscle aches and hormonal acne.  Using topical CBD may ease these pregnancy symptoms.

If you are pregnant you should read the label and make sure the CBD cream does not contain THC before rubbing it on your sore back. Many topical CBD products are labeled hemp oil cream. Some of them are safe while others state, “talk to your doctor first if you are pregnant before using this product.” Make sure you read the label and ingredients carefully before using anything with CBD while pregnant.

Conclusion

CBD oil is a hot item in the United States today. It is a great pain reliever, can help people sleep, relieves anxiety, treats inflammation and eases nausea.  Many people take a CBD supplement every day.   Women who are already taking CBD may wonder if they can continue it’s use when they learn that they are expecting a baby.  TCH found in marijuana has mind altering effects and scientific evidence proves that it is not safe for an unborn child. However, most CBD products do not contain THC.  This leads many to believe that it may be safe for pregnant and lactating women. But, there are not enough studies on the effects of CBD on unborn babies and newborns.

CBD oil may be too risky for pregnant and lactating women. You should always read the product label thoroughly and discuss it with your doctor before taking a CBD supplement.

6 Smart Ways to Digitally Declutter

by Brandpoint

(BPT) – This time of year, as our focus turns to spring cleaning, there’s an aspect of tidying up that most of us may be forgetting: our digital clutter. Women’s lifestyle outlet How Does She partnered with Walmart Family Mobile to share some excellent technology tidying tips (say that five times fast!). From Christmas pictures that are still taking up memory on your phone, to hundreds of old texts that are eating up your gigabytes, to needless folders that make your computer desktop messier than a 10-year-old’s room, there are plenty of things you can digitally declutter, and once you get started, you’ll be amazed at how zen you’ll feel.

1. Organize your photos: Photos are notorious for taking up a ton of space, and can add up quickly if you don’t regularly back them up. To get started, find a free cloud-based service to help organize your pictures. As you upload, make sure to select “delete after uploading” to kill two birds with one stone and save a little time. No matter the method you chose, take the time to protect your photos and get them in order. You can even go one step further and make it a monthly routine to make your storage easier to maintain!

2. Delete old texts: Text conversations can pile up fast and take up valuable storage, especially if they contain images or videos. There’s no need to keep unimportant ones around. As you go through your messages, save only the vital conversations you’d need to keep as a record or for reference, otherwise, send them to the trash! For the messages with images and videos, use the advice in the first tip to stay organized and limit storage use. Take five minutes right now (that’s all you need!) and pare down your texts.

3. Get your family on one mobile plan: With all the running around your family does, it’s hard enough to keep schedules straight, let alone keep up with different mobile plans. Make it easy on yourself by getting the whole family on the same affordable plan. Did you know Walmart Family Mobile has a multi-line family plan? You can get two Truly Unlimited lines with unlimited talk, text and high-speed data for less than $75 per month. (Video typically streams at DVD quality.) And you can add more lines to suit your family’s needs at a great bargain! Not only is this an amazing deal, but with Walmart Family Mobile you also get non-stop nationwide coverage on one of the nation’s largest, most reliable 4G LTE† networks. It’s great for busy families who are always on the go. You’ll be able to keep in touch with your kids when they have practices, extra-curricular activities, are out with friends, and more.

How it works: Switching to Walmart Family Mobile is quick and easy. With no contract and no activation fees (awesome!), you simply pick a phone (or bring your own), pick a plan, activate and go. It’s that simple. You can either head into your local Walmart store or check out MyFamilyMobile.com.

4. Tidy up your email: The depths of some email accounts can be a dark and scary place. Email is a primary means of communication in the world today and there’s nothing worse than not being able to find an important message when you need it. Tidy up your inbox by taking some time to delete all junk and trash messages, and then organize further by adding folders where you can store like-minded emails. Work emails go in one folder, PTA emails in another, and so on and so forth.

5. Delete unused apps: Apps not only take up your device’s memory, but can make for a cluttered screen too. If you find yourself consistently scrolling left and right trying to locate an app, that may be a sign that you have too many, or just need a little organization. Pare down your apps by deleting the ones that you never use. Then move the ones you use most frequently to the first screen, leaving lesser-used apps toward the back. You can also group similar apps into folders to further clear up your screen.

6. Clean up your desktop: Finally, find a quick 15 minutes to clean up your computer’s desktop. Having rogue folders labeled “miscellaneous” and random icons cluttering up your screen can make it difficult to find what you actually need at a moment’s notice. Once you sort through everything, you’ll free up space and have a great new system in place to find files with ease. If you feel that your computer is running slow after you have cleaned it up, consider a computer repairs company.

So this season, when you’re gearing up to spring clean your home, don’t forget to digitally declutter too! To find out more about Walmart Family Mobile’s unlimited plans and multi-line discounts, visit MyFamilyMobile.com or your local Walmart.

If congested, customers may notice reduced speeds vs T-Mobile customers that may be further reduced for small numbers of customers who use >40GB.

† To get 4G LTE speed, you must have a 4G LTE capable device and 4G LTE SIM. Actual availability, coverage and speed may vary. During periods of congestion, Walmart Family Mobile customers may notice reduced speeds versus carrier branded customers. LTE is a trademark of ETSI.

How to Increase Your Breast Milk Naturally

by Guest Author

Breastfeeding is said to be the healthiest way to provide your baby with the nutrition they need. However, many women struggle to breastfeed. One common problem new mothers face is that they are unable to produce enough breast milk for their child. Fortunately, an herb known as shatavari can naturally help you increase your breast milk. Keep reading to learn more!

 What is Shatavari?

Shatavari is a medicinal plant native to India and the Himalayas. It is often used in Ayurvedic practices for the health benefits it can provide. Its healing properties may be due to its high content of bioflavonoids, as well as zinc, calcium, and B vitamins.

Shatavari is referred to as the “queen of herbs” due to its ability to provide phytoestrogenic properties. These properties can help increase fertility in women and can also increase breast milk production in new moms.

It is best for women to take shatavari in later stages of pregnancy to ensure their breast milk supply is sufficient when it comes in. However, if women do not take shatavari during pregnancy and find they are not producing enough breast milk, they can also take it as a supplement while nursing to help with production.

 How Does It Work?

It is believed that shatavari works to increase breast milk production by stimulating the release of prolactin and corticoids, which are responsible for improving both the quality and quantity of breast milk. It also may promote the secretion of steroid hormones that increase breast milk weight and ensure higher yields of breast milk.

Shatavari is not only recommended for how it can aid in the production of breast milk, it can also boost the overall health of women that are breastfeeding. It boosts the immune system and is helpful in fighting infections. It may also provide relief from common digestive problems like diarrhea, heartburn, and inflammation, as well as may improve mood to prevent postpartum depression.

 Where to Get Shatavari

Shatavari is available in powdered dietary supplements and capsules. It is recommended to take a 500 mg dose twice a day to aid in breast milk production. For maximum effectiveness, take it with warm milk.

Breastfeeding can be challenging for many new mothers. If you are having trouble creating enough breast milk to feed your baby, try including shatavari in your diet. Then find out how it may support a happier and healthier mother and child.
