TDJ Brunch Follow Up

Thank you for tuning in earlier today for our TDJ Brunch! Together we sipped a “brunchy” libation, did seated yoga and meditation, explored ways to be more gentle with ourselves, contemplated three journal prompts, and learned tips to help focus our attention.

Here’s the worksheet. I’ll post the replay here early next week and over on our YouTube channel (you’re subscribed, right?!).

Below you’ll find the tips in case you missed us or need a refresher.

Ways to be more gentle with ourselves

Overall premise: increase acceptance, decrease expectations

Acceptance: Avoid comparison and perfectionism. What really matters is showing up.

Show yourself love: Meditate, eat well, journal, exercise, stay hydrated.

Simplify: Slow down and simplify tasks into small steps.

Let Go: Release to-dos that add unnecessary pressure and surrender what you can’t control.

Acknowledge: Accomplishments, small successes, and for simply showing up right now.

Let go: Release those stories about past regrets and future worries. Is it fact or fiction? The story I’m telling myself is . . .

Reflect: Start the day with a few minutes of writing, reading, meditation, and/or yoga.

Acknowledge the grief: Mourning our previous life.

Set routines/rituals: Flannery O’Connor, “Routine is a condition of survival.” Less decisions to make.

Tips to focus our attention

From a Huffington Post article:

Every time you focus your attention you use a measurable amount of glucose and other metabolic resources. Studies show that each task you do tends to make you less effective at the next task, and this is especially true for high energy tasks like self control or decision making. So distractions really take their toll.

Think of your mind as a muscle to exercise and start slow as you would starting a new exercise regime (hello, Pomodoro technique).
Skip switching back and forth. Takes 20 minutes to recover.
Practice mindfulness—eating, bathing, communicating. Be here now.
Focus on what you know/can control.
Slow down.
Narrow goals to MITs (most important tasks).
Remove distractions—just say no to notifications.
Set aside worry time.

Three journaling prompts

How can I be gentler with myself right now?

What are my MITs for this week?

What small shift would help me focus?

Whew, that’s a lot of information! Thanks, as always, for tuning in. Can’t wait for our next three-hour gathering on Saturday, May 2. Hope to see you there! x

Saturday

Hello love,

While the days blur together, I’m reminded to savor the simple pleasures—pug snores, kombucha, virtual ballet classes, rose-infused face oil, Zoom chats with friends, nightly popcorn—and to stay focused on what I can control.

To help us navigate this time, on Saturday I’m offering another free virtual community gathering, TDJ Brunch, and I hope you’ll join us!

Together we’ll sip a “brunchy” libation, journal, consider ways to be more gentle with ourselves, and learn tips to help focus our attention. Download your worksheet here.

I look forward to connecting again and thank you for being part of TDJ! Bisous x

PS Please enjoy this video replay of our last brunch and mp3 replay of our first gathering.

Save the Date: TDJ Brunch

Dearest,

How was your week? How are you?

For some of us, we just finished week four of #quarantinelife. I’m acclimating surprisingly well, probably because I’m healthy, well-stocked on kombucha, my loved ones are healthy, and I’m a fan of the slower pace.

Not to say this is easy, but I’ve moved past shock and am deep into the establishing-a-new-routine mode.

So far it includes a return to my daily exercise groove (yay!), seeing therapy clients and friends virtually (so I have to get ready in the AM), caring for four rescue pets (needy little monkeys), helping Mom manage the face mask orders (thanks for supporting her!), consuming a lot of rose-flavored kombuchas (Bubbly Rose by Healthade and Rose Bliss by Better Booch), and creating new content in fits and starts (exhibit A).

Unfortunately, per usual, there’s also that voice that’s continuously asking why more isn’t getting done. You know, all those e-courses I’d planned to complete and/or create when I had more time, the decluttering project, the books to read, and on and on. Do you have one of those voices, too?

Many have shared that it’s hard to focus and/or stay motivated right now despite potentially having more time and space on their hands. If that’s you, too, here’s a piece from the Post that you may enjoy. The key is to be gentle with ourselves and know that a global pandemic is NOT normal, so we’re doing the best we can.

_____________

SAVE THE DATE for another TDJ brunch (video from first one) on Saturday, April 18 at noon ET. Your invite and Zoom link will be sent in Tuesday’s Love Note, so make sure you’re subscribed! We’ll explore ways to navigate this time with gentleness and a splash of intentional focus. I look forward to hosting you!

_____________

Wishing you a smooth Saturday filled with deep breaths, movement, and a much-deserved nap. Bisous. x

Jessica Giles is a highly regarded and sought after Money Mastery & Manifestation coach. As a qualified accountant Jess very quickly identified that money management and lodging tax returns was only one very small piece of the puzzle!

For women in particular financial empowerment and confidence is something that is widely lacking and this is where Jess’s unique skill set and genius zone come into powerful play!

As a certified Money Mastery Coach, Jess powerfully supports her clients across all areas of money including money mindset, manifestation, law of attraction, money management and wealth creation.

All areas addressed and nurtured together create an unstoppable financial uprising for women, with significant shifts including ever growing bank accounts but also including enhanced self love and strengthen personal relationships. This is what Jess lives for!

Jessica’s philosophy is that it is both all about the money, and simultaneously has nothing to do with the money. It’s all about the freedom and choice that money creates for you, but also very much about the woman that you become in the process of healing your relationship with money.

Jess often reflects that you can’t sit on a meditation mat and earn a million dollars but you also can’t out manage a bad mindset. It’s time to shine the light on all areas, and Jess is just the woman to support you to do that!

Face Masks by Mama Wilson

Considering the updated recommendation from the CDC to wear face masks in public, I asked Mom to make me a leopard-print one (shown in photo).

She’s also making damask ones and each comes with a black satin backing (shown below).

We’ll be offering these over on the TranquiliT site this week in case you’re interested in a one-of-a-kind face mask that supports an Oklahoma seamstress and Pigs & Pugs Project.

Let’s stay safe (in style). Bisous. x

Virtual Retreat Love

Joined by women from Jordan, Spain, Belgium, France, Italy, UK, Mexico, Canada, and across the US, last Saturday we gathered via Zoom to reset, connect, and create through our virtual retreat.

These photos were spotted on social media (#virtualretreat) and offer a peek inside the experience.

Using journaling, mindfulness, yoga, and creativity practices, we explored ways to bloom into spring. Toward the end of our three-hour journey, many requested a monthly virtual retreat to help navigate this time.

After mulling it over, I’ve decided to offer another virtual retreat on Saturday, May 2, noon-3pm ET.

This retreat will include the same four reflective practices with a focus on finding tranquility within quarantine life.

Each virtual retreat has a fresh spin and includes:

Reflect and create in your journal. Spend time in contemplation and community. Bask in a juicy yoga flow (mat encouraged, seated optional, no experience needed). Learn mindfulness tools. Reconnect with your body through movement and meditation. Take your inner artist on a three-hour date.

Thanks to our retreaters, we donated $500 to Pigs & Pugs Project and Meals on Wheels to help keep seniors safe amid COVID-19.

I hope you’ll join us in May! Your soul will thank you.

P.S. Here’s what Kelly had to say about her experience: Kimberly’s 3-hour live retreat made a huge difference during a time when self-care is critically needed. She thoughtfully provided seated yoga, meditation and journaling to get us to the a clear mental place where we could get into the right mindset to do deep inner work, connect within, shift energy, and emerge totally refreshed and rejuvenated. Thank YOU again!

March in Review

Grief is really about turning inward and recalibrating, and thinking: ‘This is not the way the world is anymore, and I need to adapt’ . . .  It’s okay to feel grief over what we’re losing. When we do that, it allows us to let grief do its job, so that we can move on. —George Bonanno, PhD

Everything changed last month and, yet, so much remains the same.

I still walk and feed the pups, bathe, get dressed (hello, uniform), eat, sleep, work with clients virtually, connect with loved ones, handle emails, and create content for the TDJ community (YOU!).

However, it’s at a different pace with less moving parts.

Our world may feel smaller right now with a focus mainly on essentials. I recently described this time as feeling like all the puzzle pieces are dumped out of the box and we’re putting the puzzle together slowly to determine which pieces will still fit when this is over. Resonate?

Below you’ll find a review of my month (um, lots of pup pics), dreams for April, and an array of resources. I hope that wherever you’re reading this from, you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Bisous. x
