As a young girl spent hours painting squares with watercolors on school paper and doodling on the margins of my multiplication tables homework.

As a quiet teenager writing fan letters to actor Sean Astin and enjoying making mobiles in the ever-struggling math class.

As a graduate teaching assistant thrilled about creating a teaching notebook with all kinds of lesson plans and activities.

As a mom carving out time here and there to dabble and learn ways boost my creativity.

As an artist publishing artwork and an article in Somerset Studio and Somerset Life in the mid-2000’s as well as self-publishing a book of poems alongside abstract paintings called Bounce with a local writer and friend in 2013.

And these days mindfully moving between visual journaling, making sketchbooks, and writing while paying attention to what lights me up.

Thinking of You

Dearest,

All week I’ve been collaborating with clients, tying a bow around last Saturday’s virtual retreat, and thinking about you. Eager to find the space to pen you a note, here I am.

I can’t believe today completes week eight of quarantine and, yet, here we are at the homestretch of it.

One thing I’m noticing is that resiliency is off the charts for people. Wow are we malleable and adaptive!

Okay, I didn’t say we like this change, but I’m impressed by our ability to adjust to it. Zoom meetings, FaceTime calls, Instacart, virtual ballet classes, face masks, teletherapy, online learning, the list goes on and on.

While this experience has been far from perfect, I’m encouraged by how it’s been handled on an individual level. Seriously, you’re amazing!

Here’s an assortment of coping tools that seem to be helping:

Establishing a routine. Making time for daily exercise. Taking regular stretch breaks. Being engaged, not obsessed. Saying “no” to Zoom overload. Staying connected to others. Eating healthy (with guilt-free indulgences). Focusing on what we can control. Planning the week’s MITs (most important tasks). Loving on plant, fur, and human babies. Being gentle with oneself. Not overindulging (e.g., TV, social media, substances, Thin Mints—ahem). Documenting thoughts and feelings in a journal. Paying attention to the body.

While I don’t think we’ll ever really go back to “normal” after this, I do believe we can use this lifestyle shift to notice what has/hasn’t been working in our day-to-day life.

With life different for the foreseeable future, I’m reflecting on which of these changes I’d like to keep.

Open weekends. Online classes. Evening family time. Increased TDJ offerings. Observing the trees fill with leaves. Noticing the moon. A review of commitments.

What about you?

Wishing you a weekend of reflection, moon views, and the scent of lavender. Bisous. x

Virtual Retreat Love

Joined by like-hearted souls from Jordan, Belgium, France, UK, Canada, and across the US, last Saturday we gathered via Zoom to reset, connect, and create through our virtual retreat.

These beautiful photos were spotted on social media around the retreat (#tranquilitydujour) and offer a peek inside the experience. Together we focused on finding tranquility during quarantine while working through four modules: reflection, wellness, mindfulness, and creativity.

I also shared a variety of books (top photo) that I’m currently loving or have been influential and tied into the modules. Love me some books!

In addition, we donated $500 to Pigs & Pugs Project and Meals on Wheels to help keep seniors safe amid COVID-19.

Thank you for supporting this special offering. It was a treat to be with you for three whole hours!

Psst, stay tuned for details on a masterclass coming this summer. Bisous. x

5 Reasons to Retreat

5 Reasons to Retreat With Us

1. You’re seeking support to navigate this tricky time using proven techniques for finding more beauty and tranquility in the every day—journaling, yoga, meditation, creativity.

2. You appreciate a “digital goody bag” (aka 34-page Guidebook) filled with a jazzy Spotify playlist, my go-to plant-based recipes, how-tos, worksheets, savvy sources, and more! Oh, and you like bonuses (will be announced at the retreat).

3. You crave community with like-hearted souls from Jordan, Canada, across the US, France, Belgium, UK and to connect through our private Facebook group. Or, you’re welcome to make this a solitary experience, too—whatever you need is encouraged!

Following the last retreat, I counted up all the retreats I’ve done with Kimberly (in one form or another) and the grand total was 9! And I’m anxious to sign up for the next one!! I’ve completed short virtual retreats, long virtual retreats, Salons, Year of Tranquility, and multiple international retreats–and I love them all.  I like Kimberly’s content, perspective, and approach to topics like mindfulness and creativity. Everyone needs a little dose of #tranquilitydujour during times like these. —Hilary R.

4. You love learning and are excited about: 10 types of wellness, hitting the pause button to reflect, designing a wellness plan, creating your ideal schedule during this time, practicing all-level yoga, tools to decrease anxiety, moving through guided mindfulness practices, and engaging in creative play with ephemera and a Sharpie.

5. You appreciate practicing self-care and engaging in personal growth within a thoughtful community and a safe space and look forward to retreating again with the replay.

Make an investment in yourself and your soul. You deserve it! I’m honored to be your guide on Saturday’s journey. See you at the virtual retreat . . .

Given the uncertain times, I am so thankful to spend 3 hours with like-hearted women.  Kimberly creates an environment that is both nurturing and nourishing. It gives people space to try new things. In addition, the retreat packet is a great reference guide during the retreat and afterwards.  In the packet, she provides several tranquility practices (e.g. mindfulness, self-compassion, yoga, etc.). This packet is easy enough for beginners to understand and provides great reminders for seasoned mindfulness students. The retreat was a fun experience because she uses active exercises that help the retreaters get out of their head and into their body. Thank you Kimberly for sharing your knowledge and being inspiring! —Betsy

Virtual Retreat in ONE Week

Next Saturday, May 2, I’ll be hosting one more virtual retreat focused on using our go-to practices—yoga, mindfulness, creativity, and journaling—to experience more tranquility during quarantine.

Learn the 10 types of wellness and how to design a wellness plan, create your ideal schedule, practice yoga, enjoy guided mindfulness practices, engage in creative play (hello, art journaling), and spend time in reflection and community.

YES, all in three hours! This is my seventh virtual retreat to lead and here’s what two participants had to say about their experience:

I left the virtual retreat feeling full, full of tranquility, soulfulness and peace.  That is not easy to achieve in these difficult times but Kimberly managed to guide, not just me, but all of her retreaters  to this magical state of being present for ourselves.  Three hours of connecting with like minded women in this wonderful community really filled my soul and reminded me of the importance of  self care and creativity is in my life.  I highly recommend Kimberly’s virtual retreat, especially now, it is a beautiful experience! —Julie

A virtual retreat with Kimberly is a true delight! Three hours is a perfect time, and the modules of movement, artistic creativity and journaling all complement each other well. The journal prompts are thoughtful and Kimberly encourages positive art journal for people of all artistic abilities and with all manner of supplies. My favorite thing about the retreat is Kimberly’s encouragement and her “go for it” attitude. I am a perfectionist by heart, and often hesitate to begin writing in a new beautiful journal because I don’t want to “mess it up” so to speak. Kimberly fosters empowerment that you can’t mess it up and your thoughts, ideas and dreams are never mistakes and our imperfections are what make us so great. —Kate

You’ll also receive a 30-page guidebook filled with how-tos, my favorite recipes, a jazzy playlist, a TranquiliT discount code, and access to a private Facebook group. Watch this video to learn more.

Treat your inner artist to a half-day retreat. This is my last virtual retreat for now, so I hope you can join us! Bisous. x
