Day 1,880: late
It’s late you guys.
I went to a holiday get-together at Scott and Addie’s house and had a wonderful time getting to know them, hearing about their inter-work gossip, playing heads-up, and having amazing delicious food.
Beyond that, Scott and I got to hang out for pretty much the entire day, which was amazing, with a wonderful amount of Addie time too.
Great day.
Super tired, and driving tomorrow so…good night. I’ll catch everyone on the flip!

Day 1,879: A Twist
There was a twist today in our holiday plans.
Liz had to fly out of town to handle some biz, so I’m up here with the pups now. We took it pretty easy today after the morning rush. Napped. Played some MarioKart. Got some food from the grocery store.
But, it ended as most days have here up in Portland: hanging out with Scott and Addie. We just kinda talked tonight, and hung out. Discussed everything from why we sleep, to depression and anxiety. Love talking to my brother about those things, and...

Day 1,878: Kart
Just got home from playing a MarioKart bonanza at Scaddie’s.
They invited over another friend couple they had they knew played Switch, and we all had fun careening around the courses of MarioKart together. I have come to accept the fact that Scott is better than I am

Day 1,877: Fooood
Today kinda revolved around food.
We woke up and met Julianne at this breakfast spot called Zell’s. It was reaaalllyyy good. They had German pancakes there, which I’ve never had, and they were delish. They’re pretty eggy, and kind of like a collapsed puff pastry…if a puff pastry was like an eggy crepe, I guess…and it was topped with rhubarb and you squeeze a lemon on top. So. Good.
Then we went down to Steven Smith’s Tea tasting, which is right inside the factory area, and we sampled some new...

Day 1,876: Christmas Can Begin
Christmas festivities may now commence.
I haven’t been “feeling” the holidays yet. Not because I’m all “bah-humbug” or anything like that. No, I just mean that it hasn’t felt like Christmas up to this point. Not yet, anyway.
It does now.
We’re up in Portland, it’s cold, it’s wet, I just got to see family, we got Christmas-y stuff at the grocery store…it feels like the holidays. I’m ready.
Traveling today was remarkably easy. No lines. Flights were on time. Weather cooperated. Burbank airport...

Day 1,875: Packed
We’re all packed and ready to head up for the great Pacific Northwest.
I had to get myself a new suitcase! I’d *completely* forgotten that my trusty old Ricardo suitcase that my mom literally bought for me from Gottshalks when I was graduating from Junior High…it finally broke on our last trip. The wheels shattered.
So, that was fun. Luckily, Marshall’s was open down the street till 11, so I trucked on down and got me some new suitcase action. It was simultaneously wonderful and clutch, AND a...

Day 1,874: Film School
Today, Josh and I started a brand new project.
It’s called Film School. It’s a podcast, and it’s similar in format to Two Guys One Trek in that we’re sitting down together and watching something, then talking about it afterwards. We also have a mission, at least our FIRST goalpost that we’re reaching towards: to watch the AFI’s Top 100 Films of all time. How dope is that?
The similarities with TG1T are plentiful, but there are a couple things we’re doing differently. One is that we’re actuall...
Day 1,873: Chaz
The Ho and I went to Chaz Dean’s Holiday party tonight. It was super fun! Very Hollywood party, but always pretty low-key, actually. I mean, there were dancing DJs and a burlesque floor show on top of his pool…but other than that, the vibe is pretty laid back. People just kind of mill about, have some drinks, and hang out.
And, of course, there are the gift bags full of hair product stuff. Those are always fun.
I had a rather chill day today. I took a nice long nap, I did some building stuff,...

Day 1,872: Truisms
Learning is dope. It is the BUSINESS.
It’s such a truism that we take that for granted when we’re younger. It must be because of compulsory education, or something like that…especially in how it frames what “learning” is, which is equated with school, because learning is so obviously much more than that. Kids are learning and loving it far, far more than they don’t like it. It’s just those things aren’t called “education.” They’re not school.
Odd tangent there…but I suppose I mean that it str...

Day 1,871: Some Day…
I’m going to write a book on storytelling some day.
It was one of those random thoughts that just kind of floating through my head tonight as I was brushing my teeth. It’s something that seems likely. I just love talking about it so much, I love listening to people talk about it, I love reading about it…story is my great obsession in life.
I finished “reading” The Hero With a Thousand Faces last night. That probably has something to do with it. Joseph Campbell, there’s another dude who was ob...
