Day 1,840: Get It

I killed it today.

Today was probably the most productive day I’ve ever had writing. Close, at least. I worked for 8 hours…well, scratch that, 7 hours with a lunch break of 1 hour…but still. A full-time day. I got through half of my manuscript in that time, writing down notes and edits.

It’s so interesting, but the task of doing that today, going through that many pages, it really, really put into perspective what the size of my novel is…and how it’s really not all that big. It seemed so mons...

Day 1,839: Dry Hands

I have dry hands, yo.

I know! This is a red alert. Thank you for understanding.

It’s been so dry here in LA. It all started with that cold northern wind in Vegas the last day I was there at the conference. That same wind there means dry Santa Ana winds here in LA. Crazy, huh?

Obviously, dry hands are in no way comparable to the OTHER side effect of the Santa Ana winds: fires. Those are real. My dry hands are not.

The fires continue to burn tonight out west of where we live. Apparently they ma...

Day 1,838: Reset That Clock

Today was one of those odd days. I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to go. We had someone coming over to hang out in the evening, and beyond that, it was rather nebulous.

I decided last night I wanted to get work done, so I did get some done…but then the toilet in our second bathroom started overflowing with a lake of soap bubbles. Flooded the whole floor in there. But luckily, it was just the suds. Not too much actual water. Still took some time and effort to clean.

After that, I just deci...

Day 1,837: Back Down To Earth

I felt like today was about coming back down to earth after the 20Books conference.

I went and looked at a co-working space today. I think I’m going to give it a try. For at least a month or two. We’ll see. I’m going to do it for a month or two with this rewrite and see if it’s a help for my productivity or a hinderance. Wish me luck

Day 1,836: New iPad Who Dis?

Um, new iPad, who dis?

I got my new iPad today when I got home from the conference. Huzzah! Hip hop hooray! This keyboard is definitely going to take some getting used to…it is a bit smaller…but I’ll get used to it

Day 1,835: Why?

Why go to an industry conference/convention?

The answer isn’t really the panels and seminars.

That is *part* of why you go, but I honestly mean it’s only like 10% of it.

The real reason is you go for the bar chats later that night. For reals. THAT is where connections are made. That is where community is truly created. Friendships are made. Ideas flow. Advice is given and accepted.

It’s goddamn magic.

Last year was definitely a good experience for me. I met people last year when I really knew...

Day 1,834: Quickie

Quick quick one tonight bc it’s midnight and I have to get up again at 6:30 in the morning. But I had an excellent excellent day today at the conference. I met so many new people, learned so many new things, and I am so so glad I’m here.

More tomorrow. Promise. Good night

Day 1,833: Veegaaasss

Guys. I made it to Vegas.

I left at the buttcrack today. Practically. Butt crack for me, anyway. But there was a volunteers luncheon for the conference, and I wanted to be there. I got there just in time! I drove straight from LA to there, and I just made it. Thanks, Waze!

The drive was easy. It usually is, unless you’re coming back to LA on a Sunday. Then the drive is murder. But it was free and clear today, which was nice. The only bump in the road per se was that audible decided to stop wo...

Day 1,832: Omg so much

Omg. I did so much today. Jesus.

I’m ready to go to Vegas for the 20 Books conference.

Two years ago, an author by the name of Michael Anderle set a goal to write 20 books so he could make $50K a year off them. This was based off what he was selling per day with his first few books out.

Well, that book series ended up exploding very soon after (look up the Kurtherian Gambit series if you don’t know what I’m talking about), and he took to the internet to share his insights on what made him suc...

“By Any Other Name” – Chapter 5

The events of this story take place in the Starstuff Universe some years before (or after?) those of the Starstuff Trilogy.

Peep woke me when the first of the crowd showed up.

One by one, they came shuffling into the elevator chamber, hardly even looking at me. They were fixated on the elevator, and the forcefield that covered it. The lights had brightened. A semblance of daytime? They used to something similar in the mids. Topside was always bright, much to my annoyance. Peep...
