Day 1,903: Being a Nerd…

Being a nerd’s not so f*cking bad.

Eventually.

Liz and I were just talking about a girl we know who’s an awkward bookworm, and how she’s going to be a nerd…probably, I mean who knows–we think we can spot ’em, and we usually can, but not always…

It sucks being a nerd when you’re young (and sometimes when you’re older, too). You get picked on and made fun of. I did. I also had juuuust enough of a sharp tongue to push back and a sense of humor as to avoid being picked on *too* much. Mostly, I wa...

Day 1,902: It’s aliiive

I got the first episode of Film School up and running. Definitely a SOFT open to this podcast, and I post-dated the first episode back to last Monday, the first of January…but it is up.

When I’m ready for y’all to listen (if you want to, you definitely don’t have to if it’s not your bag

Day 1,901: First of His Name

We’re dog sitting this weekend. His name is Tommen Barathian, First of His Name, and he is a SWEETHEART. He was so skittish and attached to his humans when we met him, but he’s been SO GOOD here at our house. He and Coops even get along swimmingly.

It’s weird to be so close to 2,000 consecutive blog posts. Only 100 days away. Crrraaazzzyyyy. I literally couldn’t have imagined when I first started this little project–or habit, as it became–that I’d have gone that long. Is it also weird that I’...

Day 1,900: flibbety flabbety

Flargle fungle y’all.

I.

Am.

WIPED.

Working a 50-hour work week is no joke, yo…but it’s that gooood tired. I got so much done this week, it’s insane. And as tired as I am, and I am tiiired, I was up today and focused and energetic to start my day.

Writing continued to cruise along. It’s definitely not going as fast as I want it to, but I’m actually fine with it deep down because I know that I can’t really go any faster. Not yet, anyway. I’m putting in the actual time, and I’m productive as he...

Day 1,899: Perfect Evening

Y’all, I just spent a perfect evening with my wife.

I drove home from work and traffic wasn’t too bad (victory!).

I picked her up outside, and we went straight to Pho So 1, our favorite pho place. We had to wait a few minutes for a table, but nothing bad, and the pho was sooo goood as were the lemon sodas.

And THEN we went next door to the 99 Ranch (an Asian food grocery store) and got some delicious goodies to take home (these rice noodles with little salty shrimp in them, big box of hello p...

Day 1,898: Over There

Quick one tonight because it’s already bed time, so here goes:

Great writing sesh this morning. I’m fully into the new project I’m working on and worried about finishing on time…but I have faith. I can do it.

Then Josh and I podcasted Yankee Doodle Dandy which was deeeelightful. I played Josh our new theme music too, and he loved it as much as I do (and Liz, too, so we know it’s a keeper).

For reals, tho, this project, watching the AFI’s top 100 movies…it’s the business. So, so good. Learning...

Day 1,897: The Case of the Missing Wallet

Guys. I couldn’t find my wallet today.

I had to leave the house without it.

And Liz didn’t come across it all day at home. I feared the worst…

I came home, and slowly started going over the places I remembered I’d been the night before. The doorway. My office. The couch. The closet.

Had it fallen into the wash? Nope. The clothes (by then moved to the dryer) were just clothes. Damn. Had I set it down on a random shelf in the living room? No. Those were clear. Double damn. Had I dropped it some...

Day 1,896: Pats for the Pets

I’ve always loved petting animals. Always.

As long as I can remember, I’ve loved just sitting down with my cat or my dog, beside them or with them on my lap, and just petting and scratching them for 20, 30 minutes at a time.

When I was a kid, I dreamed of my cats being able to sleep with me. When I was even younger, I used to crawl inside my dog’s dog house to hang out with him–his name was Merle and he was a German Shepard–pretty sure I used to try and eat his food with him, too.

Merle was s...

Day 1,894: Wedded

Joe and Madhuri are married. Let the world rejoice.

I am definitely going to keep tonight’s entry short because it’s 2am and I am tiiiirreeeddd from my day, but what a day it was.

Liz and I got to be there for their proposal a year ago, almost exactly to the day, and now we got to be here for their wedding, which was AWESOME. They did it at Union Station in downtown LA and holy crap, what a gorgeous venue that turns into at night, all lit up. Amazing food. Hours of dancing (so much dancing)…a...
