Day 1,874: Film School

Today, Josh and I started a brand new project.

It’s called Film School. It’s a podcast, and it’s similar in format to Two Guys One Trek in that we’re sitting down together and watching something, then talking about it afterwards. We also have a mission, at least our FIRST goalpost that we’re reaching towards: to watch the AFI’s Top 100 Films of all time. How dope is that?

The similarities with TG1T are plentiful, but there are a couple things we’re doing differently. One is that we’re actuall...

Day 1,873: Chaz

The Ho and I went to Chaz Dean’s Holiday party tonight. It was super fun! Very Hollywood party, but always pretty low-key, actually. I mean, there were dancing DJs and a burlesque floor show on top of his pool…but other than that, the vibe is pretty laid back. People just kind of mill about, have some drinks, and hang out.

And, of course, there are the gift bags full of hair product stuff. Those are always fun.

I had a rather chill day today. I took a nice long nap, I did some building stuff,...

Day 1,872: Truisms

Learning is dope. It is the BUSINESS.

It’s such a truism that we take that for granted when we’re younger. It must be because of compulsory education, or something like that…especially in how it frames what “learning” is, which is equated with school, because learning is so obviously much more than that. Kids are learning and loving it far, far more than they don’t like it. It’s just those things aren’t called “education.” They’re not school.

Odd tangent there…but I suppose I mean that it str...

Day 1,871: Some Day…

I’m going to write a book on storytelling some day.

It was one of those random thoughts that just kind of floating through my head tonight as I was brushing my teeth. It’s something that seems likely. I just love talking about it so much, I love listening to people talk about it, I love reading about it…story is my great obsession in life.

I finished “reading” The Hero With a Thousand Faces last night. That probably has something to do with it. Joseph Campbell, there’s another dude who was ob...

Day 1,870: Quick

Quick entry tonight because it’s time to hit the hay, but I had a solid day today.

Bought a suit for Joe and Madhuri’s wedding. Managed to lose my fob at work

Day 1,869: Crushed

I kinda crushed it today.

I was tired. Still. What else is new

Day 1,868: Re-Focus

I need to re-focus tonight.

It was a missed day of writing. Le sigh.

It started with getting up late. Just late enough so that I only had about 30 minutes of time before work started to handle writing stuff. I had emails to write, and so I did those instead of working on my manuscript. It was a trap I set for myself, and I fell right in.

I kind of expected today to be a bit rough. It was a long, intense weekend. I was tiiiired today. At the end of the work day, I was struggling to keep my eye...

Day 1,867: Ze Home

I’m home!

‘Twas an epic weekend out in the high desert my friends.

Joshua Tree is gorgeous. I get it. So pretty.

I am exhausted.

Woke up and blessedly learned that yoga had been canceled by our esteemed leader, Aaref. Good call. Good call. We ate breakfast at the house together instead, reminiscing about the craziness and good times of the night before, and the weekend overall. Then we packed up, gave the place a once-over cleaning-wise, and went our separate ways. I think it was the same for...

Day 1,866: Bachelormore

More bacheloring happened today.

It’s 3am and I’m still rather impaired, but the pillow beckons me, and I owe you at least a quick rundown of the day.

It started with a (turned out unnecessary) early wake up call from Tito, Joe’s godbrother.

Then, it was ATVs near Palm Springs. THAT WAS SO FUN. I’ve never done it before. I’ve been missing out.

We braved a Del Taco that was branded as not having “sanitation” as their strong suit…before driving into Joshua Tree to find a spot to hike around. It...

Day 1,865: Bachelor…

This is a quick one tonight because it’s already 2:30, but I’m out in the desert…Yucca Valley to be exact, and I’m living it up at Joe’s Bachelor party.

I worked today and felt kinda achey all day, which I figure was because I got my flu shot yesterday. But I improved as the day went on. And by the time I actually got out here, I was ready to hang out and have some fun.

I played pool, a game I’m absolutely crap at because I literally *never* play it…and hit two game-winning shots tonight.

It’...
