Day 1,897: The Case of the Missing Wallet
Guys. I couldn’t find my wallet today.
I had to leave the house without it.
And Liz didn’t come across it all day at home. I feared the worst…
I came home, and slowly started going over the places I remembered I’d been the night before. The doorway. My office. The couch. The closet.
Had it fallen into the wash? Nope. The clothes (by then moved to the dryer) were just clothes. Damn. Had I set it down on a random shelf in the living room? No. Those were clear. Double damn. Had I dropped it some...

Day 1,896: Pats for the Pets
I’ve always loved petting animals. Always.
As long as I can remember, I’ve loved just sitting down with my cat or my dog, beside them or with them on my lap, and just petting and scratching them for 20, 30 minutes at a time.
When I was a kid, I dreamed of my cats being able to sleep with me. When I was even younger, I used to crawl inside my dog’s dog house to hang out with him–his name was Merle and he was a German Shepard–pretty sure I used to try and eat his food with him, too.
Merle was s...

Day 1,895: Quick Sunday Wrapup
I have to make this entry a quick one tonight because it’s already past me bed time, but, here goes

Day 1,894: Wedded
Joe and Madhuri are married. Let the world rejoice.
I am definitely going to keep tonight’s entry short because it’s 2am and I am tiiiirreeeddd from my day, but what a day it was.
Liz and I got to be there for their proposal a year ago, almost exactly to the day, and now we got to be here for their wedding, which was AWESOME. They did it at Union Station in downtown LA and holy crap, what a gorgeous venue that turns into at night, all lit up. Amazing food. Hours of dancing (so much dancing)…a...

Day 1,893: Rehearsal
So, I’m sitting in bed right now at the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles…and Joe and Madhuri are getting married tomorrow.
TOMORROW.
For anyone who doesn’t know, which I bet is a lot of you: Liz and I have known Joe and Madhuri for…almost 8 years, I think. Maybe even nine years. Maybe even TEN years. I think it’s been 8. Anyway…
Joe and I met in college. He was going to USC with my wife Liz, and after a very brief period of being rather skeptical of each other, we became the best of friends...

Day 1,892: Mehindi
I attended my very first Mehindi party tonight. I really hope I’m spelling that right.
It was for Joe and Madhuri’s wedding on Saturday, and it seems like it’s fairly akin to a Bridal Shower in Indian culture, but for this one, everyone was invited. People ate, listened to live music, got henna done for the wedding, and mingled and talked.
The food was SO GOOD.
Guys, I love Indian food. Who knew? Good Indian food, that is. And holy balls tonight was good Indian food. Samosas with that spicy g...

Day 1,891: Visibility
So, back in late 2018, Facebook made a change to their platform. It was a rather BIG change. They got rid of any ability to automatically post to a personal profile from an outside source. It was a big change at least for me.
Why? Because it meant that my daily blog posts no longer showed up on my profile (and into your news feeds).
There is a workaround. I can post stuff manually, like I am tonight, but I didn’t do a lot of that last year after the change went through. I just kind of did it...

Day 1,890: First of the Year
I did a lot of thinking today about 2018. And talking. And writing.
2018 was…an intense year. I really struggled in 2018…but damn if as I’m reading through my daily posts, I don’t see just how hard I worked. I see a lot of failure and frustration, but I also see a lot of determination, and a willingness to figure shit out.
I haven’t reaped the benefits of the lessons I learned in 2018, and I know there are more lessons to come because I am not yet to the top of the mountain where I can truly...
2018 Retrospective: What I Leave Behind
I’m doing something a little different this year. I’m actually sitting down to write this retrospective on the very last day of the year instead of several days or weeks later. I haven’t done that before. (Edit: though, in the end, it did take me two days to finish this monster post

Day 1,889: Happy New Year!
Goodbyyyeeee 2018.
Hello 2019!
I’m going to keep tonight’s entry a bit on the brief side I think because it’s (obviously) late and I want to get up at a decent hour tomorrow…
But 2018 was a bit of a rough year. Challenging. Not a bad year, but challenging. I grew a lot in 2018 and I have a lot more growing to do. For that, I will always be grateful.
I hope 2019 is a “takeoff” year. I hope to reap some benefits, as it were. I have many, many plans to get there.
I got a lot done today. Most eve...
