Day 1,909: The Grind

I busted through this week’s new Film School podcast in like 45 minutes today! What a difference prepping this podcast as opposed to Two Guys One Trek!

TG1T is edited down, and contains a lot of different outside clips I have to pull together to get it all polished and interesting and uptempo. Each episode of that podcast takes me a legit 5-6 hours to produce, and that’s AFTER recording it.

Not Film School. Film school is a bit more raw, and simultaneously less planned and strict, and MORE pl...

Day 1,908: Day Eight

Working through the weekend!

It’s been a while since I’ve worked straight through a weekend. Is it weird that it’s always a little bit…thrilling. Like, it feels kinda hard core, and sh*t’s getting done, so it’s a little…cool?

I was able to pretty easily get my work done today. It did take me all day, right up to 5pm, but I did it. Next week, I have a feeling, is going to be a bit rough. But, it’s also the end of this project I’m working on, beyond making some tweaks and fixing some notes. So,...

Day 1,907: It worked

Y’all…it worked. Going to bed early and getting a full 8 hours of sleep WORKED last night. I wasn’t tired today at all. Praise baby g.

Writing was still tough. It’s going to be for a little while, I think. Hopefully not. But, that wouldn’t surprise me. I haven’t been writing new words for almost 3 months. It’s bound to happen that way. The editorial brain is very different than the writing brain.

Work is back to smooth. I’m completely confident now that I can finish this project on time. I se...

Day 1,906: Early to Bed

Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.

That’s a phrase my dad used to tell me a lot. I just looked it up. It’s attributed to Benjamin Franklin. Now, granted, that was a two-second google search, and there are many things attributed to Franklin that he never actually said…but that’s neither here nor there.

I’m in bed early tonight.

I am wiped the fuck out. This week has taken it out of me, mostly because work has been a bit more intense this week. I have a lot on...

Day 1,905: The Other Side

I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to my writing. News flash, I know

Day 1,904: Le Quick

Twill be a short one this eve because it was a late night.

Work was good today. Writing was…well, I felt rusty. BUT, and I genuine mean this: I came up with some really good stuff today. I remember feeling very anxious while writing, but much different about it once I was done. It was a solid writing day. I just need to find my new rhythm again, that’s all.

Came home without doing a second writing sesh because Josh and I were recording tonight. We were guests on Mission Log Live, which is a l...

Day 1,903: Being a Nerd…

Being a nerd’s not so f*cking bad.

Eventually.

Liz and I were just talking about a girl we know who’s an awkward bookworm, and how she’s going to be a nerd…probably, I mean who knows–we think we can spot ’em, and we usually can, but not always…

It sucks being a nerd when you’re young (and sometimes when you’re older, too). You get picked on and made fun of. I did. I also had juuuust enough of a sharp tongue to push back and a sense of humor as to avoid being picked on *too* much. Mostly, I wa...

Day 1,902: It’s aliiive

I got the first episode of Film School up and running. Definitely a SOFT open to this podcast, and I post-dated the first episode back to last Monday, the first of January…but it is up.

When I’m ready for y’all to listen (if you want to, you definitely don’t have to if it’s not your bag

Day 1,901: First of His Name

We’re dog sitting this weekend. His name is Tommen Barathian, First of His Name, and he is a SWEETHEART. He was so skittish and attached to his humans when we met him, but he’s been SO GOOD here at our house. He and Coops even get along swimmingly.

It’s weird to be so close to 2,000 consecutive blog posts. Only 100 days away. Crrraaazzzyyyy. I literally couldn’t have imagined when I first started this little project–or habit, as it became–that I’d have gone that long. Is it also weird that I’...

Day 1,900: flibbety flabbety

Flargle fungle y’all.

I.

Am.

WIPED.

Working a 50-hour work week is no joke, yo…but it’s that gooood tired. I got so much done this week, it’s insane. And as tired as I am, and I am tiiired, I was up today and focused and energetic to start my day.

Writing continued to cruise along. It’s definitely not going as fast as I want it to, but I’m actually fine with it deep down because I know that I can’t really go any faster. Not yet, anyway. I’m putting in the actual time, and I’m productive as he...
