Everyday Love – Natalie and Shona – Sneak Peek!
“Hey. It’s Natalie, right?”
Natalie looks at the hand resting on her forearm then up into the eyes of a woman she recognises from her hotel bar. She clears her throat for remembering the loaded looks they’d shared just the previous evening, pasting on a quick smile. “Sarah?”
“Shona.”
“Right. Sorry.” Shona is beautiful. Long dark glossy hair that falls in gentle waves, making Natalie wish her own hair was anything but brown, and straight. Shona’s eyes are a shade of brown that is probabl...

Bits In Limbo
You know those people who have it all figured out,
Have done the therapy,
Performed the work to make themselves whole like they have never been,
Those with serene, perennial smiles on their faces that you want to smash off for
Promising that you, too, will crawl out of bed without rage one day.
I’m not there yet.
I keep starting out on my road of self-discovery and forgiveness
Then get distracted by bright objects either side of my path.
Sometimes I’m on rollerskates,
And I never did learn how to put my ...

Future
In the future, they said. Not in our lifetime, they dismissed. Yet everywhere we turn it’s happening here, and now, and everywhere. Those in the know are paid to discredit, while those still with morals despair at former colleagues. Those whose lives will be far more directly impacted than our own plead, and beg, and cry for our help to make a difference. That tiny portion with its grip on the world doesn’t listen, doesn’t even notice. Perhaps they feel their descendants will always be safe beca...

Waiting For The Right Time

It isn’t fair, Evan thinks, staring down at Tom laid pristine white in a hospital bed, willing himself to concentrate on the slightest evidence of his chest rising up and down. Tom’s the baby of the family, eight years younger than Evan is himself, and all Evan can think staring down at him then, is that he’s failed him for letting this happen.
It’s beyond not fair, he adds, eyes closing in anguish at the sight of the apparatus set around the head of that bed, proof that Tom’s only there ...

Being, In Between
Why would I choose the other door, anyway?
I’ve heard tale of rituals in there
That would leave any heart weak.
And I don’t really feel a draw to be that other person.
So, what does it matter, anyway?
It’s only a room.
It’s not that deep.
But being represented by neither of these symbols
And instead a gliding, fluid thing in between,
Is there a room…

Tumble

It’s late Autumn now and the wind stirs the scattering of brown, red, orange and yellow crunchy leaves, as well as his long, grey fur. It rouses excitement in his young chest and his tail swishes, awaiting adventure as always.
Beneath his paws, growing bigger by the day, he can feel the gravelly dirt against his pads. His claws, long, yet gently worn owing to hours of tumble and play, flex in this dirt as he poises himself to move.
It’s getting late in the evening and the sky above is ...
