Favorite Characters

There isn’t going to be a RPG Misadventures post today, as I’ve pretty well run out of ones that come directly to mind. Oh, there’re individual incidents that were hilariously bad, but I was trying to focus on when there were a series of unfortunate decisions for my prior posts. Instead, with Halls of Power coming out on Friday, I thought I’d go over my favorite characters from the trilogy, and why they’re my favorites.

Lily – First and foremost of my favorite characters is Lily. In a setting...

August 6th Update

So, not too many things to update about here. On Friday Halls of Power goes live, so I hope people enjoy it! I’ve also been editing Born a Queen, but after the past week, I’ve grown dissatisfied with how it looked just edited, so yesterday I started over with the Prologue, and literally re-wrote every paragraph. This is much faster than writing the book from scratch, but it means that the 9 chapters I’d already edited need to be re-done.

That being said, I put Born a Queen up for pre-order on...

RPG Misadventures: The Adventurers and the Death Beetle

This week in RPG Misadventures, we have one of the few instances where I, as a GM, killed every character in the players party. I felt bad, almost horrible, but it happened. I will note that this contains events from the Pathfinder RPG Adventure Path called Kingmaker, so if you think you might play it, I’d advise steering clear of this post. Regardless, the session was something of a debacle.

The group adventuring in what’s called the Greenbelt was a strange bunch. We had Harkin, the dwarven...

Halls of Power Finalized

I received the edited version of Halls of Power last night, and stayed up late going through the document to get it ready. Once done, I sent it to the audiobook producer, set the release date for the book for August 11th, got the files formatted and uploaded for the release, and have sent out ARCs to the new ARC team.

At this point, unless the ARC readers find any egregious errors by the 6th, Halls of Power is done. I’m going to be working on getting the pre-order for Born a Queen put togethe...

July 30th Update

Not much to update on this week. I’m expecting the edited version of Halls of Power back sometime today to review and prep for publication. I’ve done a little work on Born a Queen, but nowhere near enough to satisfy me. I think it’s a combination of this stupid persistent cough, a couple of unavoidable trips in the middle of the day during the week, and a terror of getting so caught up in it that I flub the final once-over of Halls of Power.

That being said, I expect to have the book finalize...

RPG Misadventures

Once again, I’m telling the story of me, as a Game Master, shaking my head at the group of players. In this particular case, I must add a certain belief among gamers that if you’re in a romantic relationship with the Game Master, you’re likely to get a lot more treasure customized for you, and your characters will never die.

Jessica could tell them that in my case, that’s bullocks.

In this game, we had a group of intrepid adventurers in my simply named Aethership World. What it amounted to i...

July 23rd Update

As I mentioned a few days ago, Halls of Power is off to the editor. I originally scheduled for the editor’s time starting on the 24th, so I have no clue if this will just leave it in their In Box, or if they’ll start early. Either way, I’m on schedule. If I do get the book back early, I’ll see if I can’t move the release date forward a little even from August 15th. I’m not sure, though, so we’ll have to see.

For the upcoming week, I’m going to start poking Born a Queen more heavily. I was sic...

Halls of Power: Off to Editor

I must give thanks to my Alpha and Beta readers. Without them, innumerable minor errors could have slipped past, and the version of Halls of Power which I sent to the editor a few minutes ago would be much less satisfying. I think it would have been fairly satisfying, but not in as many of ways.

As a point of note, just because I sent it to the editor early doesn’t mean that the book will be done sooner. It just means that they have it sitting in their in-box longer. As soon as I get it back,...

Corrected Teaser Link

I woke up to a message from someone saying that they weren’t sure if I was trolling or had made a mistake. It was the latter, and I fixed the link. Here’s a correct one for the teaser, along with having fixed the old one: Halls of Power Prologue

Halls of Power Teaser!

Focused on editing, so don’t have time for more RPG Misadventures! Instead, I give you a link to the draft of the prologue of Halls of Power! I hope you enjoy it!

Edit: Link fixed. Teaches me to try to link to a page going live at the same time as a blog post. *grumbles*
