Series Poll

Looking to after Halls of Power and the Ancient Dreams trilogy, I’m putting this up to show people what sort of stories I have in mind, and let people give me their opinions on which ones they’d be interested in seeing next.

I’m going to be up front and state that these are simply the stories I’m interested in writing after I finish Halls of Power and Before the Godsrage (if you’ve missed it, this will be an anthology giving background on several characters). These will not be coming out nece...

It’s also live on iTunes, but I don’t know how to like to that. I’ve got other things I’m working on for later, but that’s it for now

April 30th Update

This past week was not good for my writing, I’m afraid. I did finish my pre-editor edit of Into the Eternal Wood, and the first chapter of the novella will be going out to my mailing list early tomorrow morning. My wife had several interviews this week, and for moral support I usually go along with, which reduced the time and motivation I had for writing still more. Even so, I went from about 5,000 words to 8,500 words on Halls of Power.

This week looks to have far fewer interruptions, so I’l...

Interest Check

So, this is an odd sort of post for me. My wife is interested in writing a novella or series of novels herself, and I suggested that I might share the thoughts she had here to see if there’s interest in such a story.

The idea she has in mind is a science fantasy setting, where both technology and magic exist, kind of a space opera of sorts. Think Warhammer 40k meets Star Wars, but much less dark in tonality than either. Her idea is that human legends of different mythos (Celtic, Egyptian, Gre...

Busy Week

This week is turning out to be far busier than I anticipated. I finished Into the Eternal Wood and sent it off to an editor late Monday, then anticipated working on Halls of Power. Yesterday I ended up having to go to a doctor’s appointment with my wife, which killed the main part of my day for writing. Today I’m going to have plenty of time, but the rest of the week is pretty similar. We’ve got appointments, people coming over, and family coming to visit, so I’m not going to get as much writ...

The Gates of Tagmeth

Yesterday I learned that the eARC (ebook Advance Reader Copy) of P. C. Hodgell’s novel The Gates of Tagmeth was released by Baen Publishing. This is part of her Kencyrath series, and it’s outright one of my favorite book series of all time. Beginning with the God Stalker Chronicles, this series creates a mostly alien fantasy world which is so strange and yet familiar that it takes my breath away. I wish that I could write as well as I feel that Hodgell does, as her world is amazing to me.

I r...

April 23rd Update

So, first off, good news! The audiobook of Ancient Ruins is finally complete, after being delayed by the narrator getting sick. It’s currently in the process of being checked by Audible, and should go live in 8-12 more days. I’ll announce it when it’s done.

Secondly, apparently I just needed a change of pace, because I completed the Sistina Constella novella (hey, it rhymed!), Into the Eternal Wood, last night, with approximately 20,000 words. This makes it about 1/6th of the length of Ancien...

World Tree Art

I believe that yesterday I promised artwork, yes? Well, here it comes. This is a picture of the World Tree before the Godsrage. Yes, there’s a dragon in the picture. It’s either ridiculously huge, or a fair bit closer to  the front of the picture than the tree is. Once again, this picture was done by Jackie Felix.

An Update

Yes, I know it’s not Sunday. I also know that I just put out a book last Saturday. However, I find myself unable to not talk. I may be slightly anxious as a whole… anyway!

Short Story/Novella (just did research, it’s on the cusp of being a Novella) about Sistina Constella has been titled Into the Eternal Wood. A bit of a mouthful, but I’m not putting it on the cover of a book. I’ve currently got a bit over 14,000 words to the story, in seven chapters, and I think I’ll have 2-3 more chapters t...

Rambling on Writing

I’ve said before I’ve been stunned that I’ve done so well with writing. It’s slightly perplexing to me, but it’s possible that people don’t understand why this is. It’s also possible people wondered how I managed to get to this point. Honestly? I have no idea. But I decided to write up a long page on what inspired Ancient Ruins, and what preparation I did. I’m linking it below.
