November 26th Update
So, Marin’s Codex is now at just over 62,500 words in length. I’m honestly scratching my head, trying to figure out what happened with the story. I’m going to be startled if it comes to an end with less than 70,000 words, and possibly more than that. Before the Godsrage may end up being slain, in favor of Marin’s Codex with a few side stories. We’ll see how it works out!
For those of you who’re in the United States, I hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving! Personally, I’m well and truly sick...

November 19th Update
As of yesterday, Marin’s Codex hit ~52,500 words. This is the point that I scratch my head and wonder where the story is taking me. It’s relatively slow in a lot of ways, winding its way through things, and it’s surprised me in several ways. Still, I have no clue where it’ll end. My hope of having the first revision complete by the end of the month isn’t looking promising. I might have the first draft complete… but who knows?
This week is looking like it’ll be busy, as I have a holiday in the...

Recipes of Born a Queen
So, an oddity of Born a Queen was that when I was writing it, I was slightly obsessive on some of the details. I checked the calendar for the year to ensure that all of my days were correct for that year and date, I made sure the phases of the moon were accurate, and all of that. But slightly differently, I wanted to be certain that the meal that Lilith prepared were ones that I’d had myself. I’d been floating about the idea of sharing the meal here, and… well, I suppose it’s time.
First on...

November 12th Update
Marin’s Codex is up to ~41,500 words, give or take a bit. Going to try to work on it a little today, but I’m guessing this is my winter slump. It may also be because of the sense of pressure the story gives… but who knows? Besides, it’s just excuses. I’m making progress, and expect to be done with the story, and the first revision, by the end of the month.
At that point I’m going to be trying to write out The Falling Shadows, but I’m making no promises there, in part because while I like the...

November 5th Update
So, Marin’s Codex is at ~35,000 words, give or take a bit. Not quite where I hoped to have it this week, but good enough that I don’t feel too bad with a holiday and dealing with root canals and the like this past week. More of the latter in the upcoming week (mostly the aftermath), so I’m half-expecting to be relatively slow.
The story is still coming along nicely, though I’m not entirely certain how much longer it’ll be. An interesting project, that’s for certain. Oh, and for what it’s wort...

Mid-Week Musings
I haven’t done a mid-week update in a while, partially because I’ve been somewhat brain-dead in some ways, and partially because of the dental issues I mentioned on Sunday. They’re being dealt with, but I’m not done yet.
This year, I’m not participating in NaNoWriMo, in large part because I’m working on Marin’s Codex. I’ll probably hit the 50,000 word goal for the month, but it isn’t going to be specifically for the event. Maybe next year, but I’m making no promises there.
I know a while back...

October 29th Update
So, since I neglected to give an update last week, Marin’s Codex, one of the parts of Before the Godsrage, has reached ~27,500 words. At 40,000 words it graduates from novella to novel, and I fully expect it to reach that point. Who knows, it might turn into a full novel of its own! We’ll see what happens with it, as I’m not entirely certain how long it’ll go.
To those of you who supported Born a Queen, thank you very much. That being said, I’ve heard a few concerns about how some aspects of...

A Year In Memory
Today marks an important date to me, and not just because I released Born a Queen yesterday.
One year ago at 6 PM, I got off work at my seasonal position and, as I’d told the assistant manager at the time, I quietly left with no intention of ever going back due to the mess the job had been. I was frustrated and infuriated, and I’d had a random idea bouncing around my head for the previous two days that was distracting me from my project I had in mind for Nanowrimo 2016 (National Novel Writer’...

Born a Queen Incoming
[image error]So, over the next 24 hours Born a Queen will be released worldwide. In fact, I believe it’s already available in Australia! Regardless of that, there’s a part of me that’s worried about releasing a new series. Another part of me is excited, but we’ll see how things go.
For myself, I’m going to try to keep my head down and write some other stuff along the way. Marin’s Codex is coming along, not as well as I hoped, but at a reasonable pace. I’m trying to get it right, after all!

October 15th Update
I didn’t get much writing done this past week, partially due to lack of motivation, partially due to a toothache. The latter has been partially dealt with, and the rest will be dealt with soon enough. Marin’s Codex hasn’t progressed much, but this week should change that. If I’m not to at least 15,000 words by next week, I’m going to be frustrated with myself.
Born a Queen is set for release this upcoming Saturday, to my personal terror, no matter what a couple of my readers have to say about...
