Numenera Product Line-up (Part 1)
This weekend, I finished making the last few adjustments to the Numenera rules based on playtester feedback. Sean Reynolds, the developer, has taken a pass through most of the rules now too, and editors Shanna Germain and Ray Vallese are now editing some of the initial material. We’re also looking at some initial page layout …

Numenera News!
First of all, I know it’s been a while since I’ve written here. But I’m not going to apologize, because it’s mainly been because I’ve been really hard at work on the Numenera corebook. I’m so excited how everything’s coming together. The rules are being developed, the official playtest is winding to a close, and …

Exciting News!
Numenera is now going to be a computer game as well as a tabletop RPG! I recently made a deal with Brian Fargo of InXile Entertainment to make Numenera the basis for the new Torment game. The lead designer is my old friend (and fellow Planescape designer) Colin McComb. Here’s more information in the form …

Online Design Seminars
I’ve been doing a series of online design seminars. These have been primarily for Numenera Kickstarter backers, but a few other people have purchased “seats” for them as well. There’s still one left in the series, held on January 9th and again on the 12th. It’s on Working in the Game Industry and will be …

The Dragon of Dungeon
Here’s the D&D setting that I came up with while waiting to fall asleep the other night. The first thing you need to know about it is that there are no monsters in this world, but all the other D&D “pieces” (wizards, fighters, elves, +1 swords, etc.) are in place. The city-state of Dungeon is …

More Podcasts? Yes!
Just a quick note about more podcasting goodness. I was a guest host on Nerd Tangent for three–yes three–episodes in a row. Nerd Tangent is this awesome podcast where we just get together, start talking about something geeky, and see where it takes us. Talking about convention experiences leads us to comics, which leads us …

Ninth Worldbuilding
The Ninth World is the setting for Numenera. Building this world is one of the real joys for me as a game designer. As Shanna Germain and I develop the setting, we are using a technique that I developed for my book, Ptolus. That technique is something that I refer to as the microscope …

Numenera Update, plus Aliens, Mutants, and Transmissions
Things are going really well for Numenera. The playtest has been going strong for weeks, and the playtesters are providing good feedback. We’ve also got the first round of artists beyond lead artist Kieran Yanner working on the game now, and everything is coming out astonishingly beautiful. Look for some great new art previews in …
