GJ&RQ now up on UK Amazon, too
May be seen here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gentleman-Jol...
Pass the word.
Australia, India, and other UK-rights territories should follow shortly.
(Note, my rights for foreign e-placement of my Vorkosigan titles in English are quite complex. There are places where Baen is exclusive, places where my direct-placement is exclusive, and places where both editions exist. All sales are good ones. Although you may tell my direct ones by the new e-covers.)

GJ&RQ now up in UK iTunes
Aha --
I see Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen is now up in the international iTunes - iBook stores. Or at least in the UK --
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/book/gent...
Folks are invited to chime in with bookspotting from other counties.
Amazon UK and all the other national Amazons should follow soon, I hope.

Dreamhaven booksigning Wednesday evening
I see out my window that the traditional Bujold Booksigning Blizzard has arrived here in Minneapolis. (My very first booksigning here, back in the mid-1990s, included wind chills of minus-53.) However, it's supposed to tail off by morning, and we have snow plows and know how to use them. I think I'll be able to get to the store all right tomorrow. Whether anyone else will is still an open question at this point.
Anyway,
Date: February 03, 2016 06:30PM
Venue: Dreamhaven Books & Comics
2301 E 38th St.
Minneapolis, MN, 55406
Website: http://dreamhavenbooks.com/
As part of the Speculations Reading Series, I will be appearing at Dreamhaven Books & Comics on the evening of Wednesday, February 3rd, from 6:30 PM till whenever. If time permits, in addition to signing the new Vorkosigan book, I will be doing a short reading from a new Penric tale.
Ta, L.
Later: The driving, after yesterday's snow, was not as bad as I'd feared. We had a good evening -- nice crowd but not uncomfortably jammed, signed a lot of books. I also signed stock for Dreamhaven, so they have signed copies for mail order now -- check their website. Someone who was there will have to chime in with how the reading sounded. Not very many questions. And then we went out for pizza. Good times!
Saturday afternoon will be Uncle Hugo's; I'll post a reminder in due course.

Book Launch Day!
At last, wheeze...

Book launch day, or week, is as close as I have come in my adult life to replicating the emotions of a kid on Christmas morning. (Wildly unrealistic expectations, uncontrollable greed, all my joy totally at the mercy of other people... Ripping off the packaging to find a disappointing hairbrush set when I wanted plastic horses... Ahem. Maybe other children's Christmases were not as relentlessly self-interested as mine, but, y'know, when one doesn't have a job or money or a car, and is too short to be allowed on the roller coaster, one is reduced to some pretty arcane methods of trying to get one's own way.)
By mid-February, it will all have settled to the drained, ebbing emotions of Christmas afternoon, to continue the metaphor. All of this effort, I reflect, has not much to do with the very private transaction between person and text which is the act of reading a book, and more to do with the peculiarities of the book marketing system as it has evolved, which is a whole other essay. Chasing the bestseller lists in a tight two-week time window is a snare and a delusion, for someone whose books live (and rather well, too) in the long tail in the long run, but one still can't help being caught up in one's own hype. So, not cancelling Christmas just yet. Even though this is Groundhog Day.
The latest interview is now up, here:
https://www.goodreads.com/interviews/...
I am not strictly sure how these interviews are circulated on Goodreads, whether sent out like spam, or left as bait for people to stumble over. Anyway, feel free to share the link.

GJ&RQ as a stand-alone, yes!
Aha! A review from a fresh reader, finally!
This popped up this morning on Amazon --
" ...The lovely thing about Gentleman is that it doesn't require you to have read all the books to follow what's going on. It's quite a self-contained story on its own. Bujold is a seasoned writer - she drops hints and reminders of what has happened before in such a way that you don't feel you've missed anything from not reading those earlier books, but at the same time, you have the urge to pick it up because it sounds so darned interesting. (By the sound of it, though, some of these are new to followers of the series. Hm.)"
I thought all the old readers telling people not to read the book until they'd climbed a mountain of others were not able to judge this, and I was right.
(N.B., it apparent from the rest of the review that this reader is not from the cadre allergic to romance, though.)
Also, one of my many e-interviews this month has popped up here: http://www.nerds-feather.com/2016/02/...

coming soon -- UK & World e-edition of JG&RQ
Just a heads-up, we will be doing a direct-placement e-edition of Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen for the UK and other regions where my US publisher does not go. It is all bagged and almost ready to go up, and should, I hope, be along next week sometime at our international vendors, Amazon and iBooks.
It's going to look like this:

in line with the rest of my new e-covers.
I'll post another note when it goes live.
***
I also just received my author's copy (on CD) of the audiobook, which also releases next week. Grover Gardner reads smoothly as always.
I note that 99% of audio customers buy the download version nowadays. I think only libraries buy much of the physical media, and even they are switching to e-versions as much as possible. My big county library has lots of such offerings. Even some manga and graphic novels are going e-, although they don't play well with my Kindle Paperwhite.

Book signing, from 1 PM till we run out of customers.
There is no space at Hugo's for a program, so there will not be a reading. Q&A will be informal, as the line permits. I will sign old books as well as new ones, and personalize by request.
The signing will be first-come-first-served, but as I don't have to rush away, you should relax about getting there. Instructions for parking may be found on the Hugo's website.
For persons outside the Twin Cities area, note that Hugo's does mail orders.
See you in February!
Ta, Lois.
