Mira hits town... well, iTunes
Aha, it is starting to surface.
iTunes is first out the starting gate this time...
https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/mira...
Amazon and Nook should follow within the day. I'll post the links as I find them.
2/28 -- ah, here's Nook:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/miras...
and now Amazon, just within the last half hour:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCM8VPB/...
The other country Amazons should follow soon.
Yes, here's Amazon UK already:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XCM8VP...
About the only push these novellas are getting are my blog posts, so reviews and other mentions by y'all out and about on the net are very important. Amazon US always gets plenty of reviews, Nook and iTunes lag and could use some more, but in either case those vendor reviews are only seen by someone who has already found the story. Learning it exists in the first place generally has to happen elsewhere.

I've wondered if I should say any more about it, but really, at 28k words you can all find out for yourselves soon enough.
It's not, by the way, my shortest novella so far -- "Winterfair Gifts" was about 23,500, by way of comparison; "Weatherman" was about 27,000.

Penric gets a star
Aha, "Penric and the Shaman" picked up a starred review in Publishers Weekly, always a fine thing. (And good for library sales.)

Penric and Shaman in stock at Uncle Hugo's
Don Blyly, the owner of Uncle Hugo's Science Fiction Bookstore here in Minneapolis, just drove out with two cartons of the new hardcover of "Penric and the Shaman" for me to sign. So signed copies of the regular edition of the book are in and available for mail-order at the store.
(If people want personalizations, note that it'll be a while till I get over there again.)
http://www.unclehugo.com/prod/index.s...
In addition, I will be doing an in-store signing on Saturday, March 18th, from 1 PM - 2 PM.
Also tentatively on the schedule for March is an appearance at Dreamhaven Books & Comics on the evening of Wednesday, March 15th, as part of the Speculations reading series. More on this as it solidifies.

e-cover sneak peek Pen & Des #4
I am pleased to announce the next Penric & Desdemona novella, the sequel to "Penric's Mission", is finished in first draft and undergoing final edits. I hope to have it up as an e-book at the usual suspects within a few weeks. Title is "Mira's Last Dance"; it will top out at about 28,000 words.
Cover design by the estimable Ron Miller, incorporating but not limited to "Still Life with Fruit" by Jacob van Walscapelle, 1675.

The vendor-page ad copy will read:
"In this sequel to the novella “Penric’s Mission”, the injured Penric, a Temple sorcerer and learned divine, tries to guide the betrayed General Arisaydia and his widowed sister Nikys across the last hundred miles of hostile Cedonia to safety in the Duchy of Orbas. In the town of Sosie the fugitive party encounters unexpected delays, and even more unexpected opportunities and hazards, as the courtesan Mira of Adria, one of the ten dead women whose imprints make up the personality of the chaos demon Desdemona, comes to the fore with her own special expertise.
Fourth novella in the “Penric and Desdemona” series."

uploading blockage
Well, drat. I just tried uploading cover scans of three Korean titles to share with you, and Goodreads spit them all back, claiming they didn't pass their virus scan. Since I scanned them through my Paint program identically to the way I've scanned in every other cover, I have no idea what they are on about.
Anyone else encounter this problem lately? Because if it's endemic, this is going to be a much less colorful blog.
Puzzled, L.
Later: when I attempted to upload the exact same scans through Outlook rather than Mozilla, they went up fine. Mysterious...

name-checked in Forbes
Well.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/hayleycuc...
The writer appears to be a new-generation (i.e., post-internet) fannish insider, trying her best to explain the stuff we all know by heart to an audience who doesn't get art, but does get commerce. Good luck on that one...

More Penric news with SubPress
Just a reminder, "Penric and the Shaman" will be released from Subterranean Press in its limited hardcover edition at or around the end of this month.
http://subterraneanpress.com/bujold-p...

Be it noted, the limited edition is indeed limited, so if you are set on getting a copy, it might be wise to get your order in early. Uncle Hugo's here in Minneapolis also has a good supply on order. We plan a signing there in honor of it on Saturday, March 18th, at 1-2 PM.
http://www.unclehugo.com/prod/index.s...
In other happy SubPress news, they will indeed be doing a similar limited hardcover edition of "Penric's Mission". The manuscript file just went into production there. I will have more updates as things are confirmed.
