Penric and the Shaman hardcover sneak peek
A small day-brightener...
Herewith the dust jacket for the upcoming (February 2017) Subterranean Press reprint of the novella "Penric and the Shaman". Cover art, again, by Lauren St. Onge.

As before, it's a limited print run, so the surest way to secure a copy is to pre-order early directly from SubPress.
http://subterraneanpress.com/store/pr...
Uncle Hugo's here in Minneapolis will also have copies -- we have tentative plans for a signing in early March. Dreamhaven Books &Comics is likewise an option.

Gentleman Jole still in Goodreads Choice run
I see that Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen made the cut for the semi-final round in the Goodreads Choice Awards in the science fiction category --
https://www.goodreads.com/choiceaward...
Several interesting new titles arrived from the write-in votes, too.
Voting closes (again) on Nov. 13th; more info here:

After which is yet one more round. Curious system.

Penric's Mission spoiler discussion and typo reporting thread
So...
As before, I think I'll set up a thread where people who have already read the story can discuss it with each other, and those who haven't and don't want to be spoiled can avoid it.
Also, but just for the next day, it's open to typo reports. I have a few in hand, enough to ask my e-person to go through the work of correcting the file for sale, but I don't want to ask her to do this more than once. Nevertheless, I'd like to do it as early as possible. So, speak now (or at least soon) or forever hold your peace.
Monday: Thanks, sharp-eyed fans! I have collated the typos and sent them off to my e-wrangler.
If anyone spots any more... keep them a secret.

Penric's Mission goes live
Aha. "Penric's Mission" is up!
Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRF794N/...
Amazon UK as well:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MRF794...
I would guess all the other country-Amazons as well, or soon.
B&N and iTunes should follow shortly, as the file has been submitted at both. I will add those links as I spot them. (iTunes used to take weeks to get e-books up; they're much faster these days.)
Later: and we have achieved iTunes:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/penr...
and B&N:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/penri...
If you totally want to avoid spoilers of any kind, don't click on the "Read more" button on the product description. (I really don't think it's all that spoilery, and I did want to give the more casual browsers a fighting chance at deciding if it's something they want to read.)

Penric's Mission e-cover sneak peek
Hot off the... well, not press, anymore.

Wow does e-pub move fast, compared to the print world. There are good reasons (and a few leftover dubious historical ones) for print's glacial pace, but this instant-gratification thing could get addictive.
I will pass along more news/information on Pen & Des's latest outing when I get it. Which may not be that long.

Gentleman Jole is a Goodreads Choice 2016 nominee
I am pleased to report that Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen is a Goodreads Choice Award nominee in the science fiction category this year.
The opening round of voting closes November 6th.
More info here:
https://www.goodreads.com/choiceaward...
and here

This award's pool-of-interest seems to have a nice non-overlap with some others, which is good for broadening attention for my genre/s. (Although I suppose awards, by their nature, are all about narrowing attention.) Still, if there are enough different ones, they add up to a pretty good panorama.

Ta, L.
PS -- I should also add, Baen's nice trade paperback edition of the book releases today:

Penric 3 finalized
The third Penric novella-ish is done, tidied, and off to my e-helpers at Spectrum. Final title chosen was "Penric's Mission".
About a quarter more people preferred that over "A Meeting in Cedonia", which would not be enough to sway me if I'd had a strong opinion myself, but if I had, I wouldn't have been asking around in the first place, so. I gave the not-quite-tie-breaking vote to my agent, who came down firmly on the practical side, as I expected. (That's her job, after all.)
Next week, I should have a cover preview and pub date information. If there are no snags, expect publication in early November. (It would be fun to have it on my birthday, as a sort of Hobbity mathom all around, but that may be pushing things.)
Thanks again, everyone who responded!

Author Dashboard odometer
So...
The control panel for one's profile and blog here at Goodreads is dubbed the "Author Dashboard" and shows various dubious statistics. (Well, I'm sure they are accurately counted; it's their utility that puzzles me.) One of which is "number of followers".
Which, in the magic of round numbers, just turned over 20,000 this morning.
I would say, "Go, me!" except that I'm not entirely sure what this means, in the cosmic scheme. What do you get for being a "follower", in the way these things are counted? What is its use to the author?
(Stats also give "total reviews", listed at 15,960 this morning, which is... probably something I would be better off not knowing. Pretty sure this includes star ratings without accompanying remarks, which would boost the numbers.)

...Not that art is a democracy. But anyway, I'm down to two, and the wire:
A Meeting in Cedonia
Penric's Mission
Any last thoughts?
