In Which Gaelen Foley Enlists Me for Important Work

All this week, over on the Avon Blog, Gaelen Foley is celebrating the release of her newest book, My Dangerous Duke by asking her author friends to choose a hottie they'd like to receive as a gift...and tell readers what they'd do with him first.  Gaelen's book begins with the heroine being given to the hero as a gift...so this is a literary exercise, you see...not a blatant ploy for man candy.

This is not an easy decision to make. One hottie? The first thing?  Hmmm....

Today I'm up, with the f...

Saundra Mitchell's Ten Ways to Give Fright to Your Romance Novelist Friend's Sight

Today, I'm turning the blog over to my dear friend, Saundra Mitchell, in honor of the release of the paperback version of her debut YA novel, SHADOWED SUMMER, one of the best ghost stories I've ever read...and a book that I promise you won't be able to put down.

Saundra and I met as part of the 2009 Debutantes, and of course, were drawn to each other in the way that only a romance novelist and someone who writes disturbing ghost stories can be.  That is, wholly. And our critiques go something ...

Happy Father's Day!

Particularly to mine, who taught me about boys, wine and Spaghetti Westerns...And who is always willing to let me be his sous chef.

Ti voglio bene, Papa!

The Music that Makes the Magic Happen

I know I've been remiss in blogging recently and I'm sorry, y'all...suffice to say, Juliana is keeping me very busy (is that a valid enough reason for leaving you hanging?)!

So...I don't really have time to blog today, as I've got a goal to reach by tomorrow...but I did think you might like to see a list of the music that is helping me keep the words coming these days.  I'm linking to the songs wherever I can find them...but I encourage you to buy the mp3s (also linked) if you like them.  Sing...

Ten Ways Gets A Cover! I Fall Over in Adoration.

Getting giant packages from your publisher never gets old.

Particularly when said giant packages include a stack of cover flats, all gorgeous and designed by the unparalleled Avon Books design team...with pearly paper and foiled, lovely text and official, bona-fide romance author photo and bio.

And especially when they come with a note that says that you have permission to share the cover on your blog and all over the world.  :)

So, here it is, y'all! Thanks for being so very very patient!

Nich...

Anne Mallory's Seven Secrets and Nine Rules!

I'm so thrilled to finally be able to host and celebrate my friend Anne Mallory here on the blog! Anne has been one of my favorite authors for ages, so when I was luckily seated on a bus with her at last year's RWA, it was clearly fate!

Anne's fabulous...and her recent release, Seven Secrets of Seduction (you know how I feel about books with numbers and alliteration in the titles!) is incredible...the heroine, Miranda, is a brilliant bookseller, and the hero, Maximillian, is a stunningly hot ...

Romancing the Veep...

Don't miss the fabulous Carrie Feron's post over at the Avon Books blog today...she's tackling the break-up du jour, Al & Tipper Gore.

Carrie is fearless and does not shy away from the serious business of romance. Like editing my books. Or Vice Presidential marriage counseling.

But she's got a point...if married couples can reconcile in romance novels, why can't real life marital strife be solved with a good dose of romantic fiction? Well, the Dr. is in...and she's requested a consultation with...

Tis The Season for Paperbacks!

Dear Sir or Madam,
Will you read my book?
It took me years to write, will you take a look?

June snuck up on me I will confess!

But! It's here now, and I'm very very happy to announce the arrival of the paperback edition of The Season! "But Sarah," you say, "I already read The Season in hardcover!" To you I say, there's a little bit of added historical interestingness at the back of this version, so at least make a point of picking it up and checking out the info on titles and nobility the nex...

Who would win in a fight?

So, every few weeks, when I'm putting off writing, I look at my keyword analytics for this site. For the most part, they're what you would expect: people searching "Sarah MacLean" or "Best Historical Romance Novels" or "International Debutantes Ball" (ok...these are things I expect because I look at my analytics quite a bit.

But every once in a while, something really surprises me. For example: "Who would win in a fight a mole or a koala?"

I'll give you a moment to process that question a...
