Bella Andre shares Luke Carson's Nine Attempts to Resist Janica Ellis's Kiss
So, four years ago, I was in my local bookstore, and I stumbled upon Bella Andre's Take Me that was precisely my kind of book. The heroine is slightly curvier than most (and we know how much I like *those* heroines) and has been in love with the hero (who happens to be a hot twin...are you sensing the theme?) since childhood. Lily (our heroine) ends up nabbing Travis (hot hero) during a ridiculously luscious trip through Tuscany. Uh...sign me up! I devoured the book and everything else I...

Cara Elliott's Nine Things Learned While Teaching Historical Romance
I'm so excited to host Cara Elliott on the blog today! In the past few months, Cara's become a friend--we're both regulars at Lady Jane's Salon--and I'm so happy to be able to have her here...and to be able to give away the second book in her fabulous Circle of Sin trilogy...you know how much I love smart heroines, and boy do these girls deliver! I'll prove it! One random commenter will win a signed copy of To Surrender to a Rogue! Yay!

RWA, News and Goodies...
It's about 900 degrees in Brooklyn and I'm trying to avoid a much-needed, long-overdue trip to the post office...with much-needed, long-overdue blogging! So much going on this week, I don't know what to do with myself!
I'll start with the biggest...I'm right now packing for the Romance Writers of America convention, which begins Wednesday in Orlando at the Disney Swan & Dolphin Resort (Or is it Dolphin & Swan?)...I've never been to Disney World, and I'm told Epcot is awesomesauce...AND my pub...

Fabulous Romance Panel - Achieved!
Last night, I was thrilled to moderate a panel of romance experts in honor of the opening of the fabulous WORD Brooklyn bookstore's brand-spankin'-new romance section...and y'all...it was AWESOME. A little history: A few months back, Stephanie Anderson, the lovely and talented manager of WORD (which is, quite possibly, the most charming indie I've ever had the pleasure to visit) made the big mistake of suggesting on Twitter that I come out and talk to her about romances...as she was consider...

Vive La France!
Today is a national holiday in France: Bastille Day, which is something like the fourth of July, if the fourth of July included fireworks from the Eiffel Tower and fresh baked croissants at Notre Dame.On July 14, 1789, Paris was, according to François Mignet, "intoxicated with liberty and enthusiasm" (LOVE THIS PHRASE) and they'd had enough with French nobility doing whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted. So they stormed the Bastille, which was a teeny prison at the center of Paris (and ...

New York Renaissance: Liberty Island
As you know, I love me some Aaron Sorkin. And I have been since before The West Wing (although that was the show that sealed the deal). You see, I really really loved Sports Night. Really. At first, I fought against it, thinking it was a show about sports. But then I watched it and realized that it was really a show about awesome.
Right there, in the first episode, Dan Rydell, played by the wonderfully talented (and easy on the eyes) Josh Charles, talks about his New York Renaissance. I'...

My favorite poet: Edna St. Vincent Millay
I love Edna St. Vincent Millay. The first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for poetry, she has a powerful, lyric voice, one that is heavy with emotion and depth and something that just cuts me to the core. None of her poems strike me quite as powerfully as this sonnet, however:
Time does not bring relief; you all have lied
Who told me time would ease me of my pain!
I miss him in the weeping of the rain;
I want him at the shrinking of the tide;
The old snows melt from every mountain-side,
And l...
