I was born to a diplomat and housewife in Tehran-Iran then whisked
across the globe to whatever country my parents had been assigned to.
Raised to appreciate various cultures, landscapes, languages, and
viewpoints, my life was one grand adventure until a revolution took
place in my country and turned our lives upside down. Between then
and the age of eighteen I had experienced both the joy, freedom, and
magic our world offers as well as wars, deprivation, and oppression.
My undergraduate studies were in the Middle East and my post graduate
studies were at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France.
So, when did I become a writer? Books had always been my greatest
friends, teachers, refuge, and the inspiration to forge my own
future. In college I realized I wanted to write engaging mysteries
and thrillers. At the same time, I wanted to give readers more than a
story. I wanted to share the rich beauty of Persian literature as
well as that of other cultures. For that I embarked on a
twenty-two-year journey, traveling to various countries, and
experiencing life while establishing a successful career. Gabriel
McKnight and his first story had been on my mind for several years
yet it wasn’t until my mid-forties that I picked up the proverbial
pen. The time had come to share my stories.
The next step was making my dream come true. I queried several agents and
one glorious day in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic my wonderful
literary agent reached out to me with an offer for representation.
She took my story to publishers and before I knew it, we had a
publishing contract –and here we are.
Today, I live in Oklahoma City, USA with my family and two dogs. If there’s
one thing I’ve learned, it’s the power of words. Words can heal,
teach, entertain, inspire, and evoke change. I hope you enjoy
Gabriel’s adventures as much as I enjoyed writing them.

investigators. But which one? Not knowing who to trust, Rebecca

I attended college at Ohio Wesleyan where I struggled with physics.
Having made so many mistakes in college with physics, there weren’t
too many left to make and I did quite well at graduate school at Purdue.
I worked for twenty years at
Choate Rosemary Hall, an exclusive boarding school in the heart of
Connecticut. More often than not, students arrived in limousines.
There was a wooded area by the upper athletic fields where I would
take my children for a walk. There, under a large oak tree, stories
about the elves would be weaved into the surrounding forest.
Returning to my home town to help with a father struggling with Alzheimer’s, the only job open
was at a prison. I taught an entirely different clientele whose only
interaction with limousines was stealing them. A year later Alfred
State College hired me to teach physics. I happily taught there for over ten years.
My wife’s boss, the superintendent of a rural school in western New York, begged me to
teach physics and earth science. Helping young high school students
was particularly appealing to me at this point in my career and the
salary was more than reasonable, so I find myself happily teaching at
Mt Morris Central School.
Five years ago, my wife pestered me about putting to “pen” some of the stories which I
had created for the children and other relatives. I started thinking
about a young boy and a white deer, connected, yet apart. Ideas were
shuffled together, characters created and the result was the Return
of the White Deer. This book was published by the Martin Sisters.
Years ago I gave a lecture on evolution. What, I wondered, would be the next step? Right away I
realized that silicon ‘life’ had considerable advantages over
mortal man. Later this idea emerged as the exciting and disturbing
story called Reap the Whirlwind.
Two years ago I stumbled upon an old article in the local paper about a Brinks’ robbery in 1992.
Apparently over ten million dollars were stolen and most of it was
never recovered. Although the mafia was peripherally involved in the
heist, it was unlikely they took the missing millions. This was the
seed which has now grown into the young adult novel, The Runner and the Robber.
I have many other stories
inside my mind, fermenting… waiting patiently for the pen. Perhaps
someday I will even write about those elves which still inhabit the
woods in the heart of Connecticut.

Isabel turned her horse into the woods, directing him to a gurgling stream under a canopy of trees. The forest was quiet but for the splashing of the water, bird songs and the rustle of branches. They hadn’t been there long when Isabel heard a new sound. Hoofbeats and muffled voices. She urged her horse closer to the road, and easily heard the riders’ conversation.
“What makes you think she came this way?” a man asked.
A deeper voice answered, “Merely a guess. It seemed as good a place as any to look, but I’m thwarted again.”
“Let’s turn back, we can look for her tomorrow.”
“I’m sitting for the portrait tomorrow.”
Isabel’s pulse quickened as she recognized the deeper voice. Robert Claremont. So he’d been looking for her. Why hadn’t he come to the house? She started back toward the stream, but suddenly reason left her and she guided her horse through the trees, emerging just as Robert and his companion rounded the bend going in the opposite direction. They hadn’t seen her.
Isabel paused for a moment, thinking what to do. Go back home and hope he came to the house soon? Or seek him out for herself? Her reckless side won. Spurring her horse to a gallop, she chased after them. Robert turned in his saddle and Isabel was delighted with the look of shock on his face as she sped past him and who she could now see was Mr. Kensington.
About the Author: Kate grew up in a woodsy New England town where summer days at the lake seemed to last forever. She read her first historical romance at age eleven when a teacher challenged her to find a book in the library written by an author she’d never heard of. Thus began a life-long love of love stories.
After graduating from college with an art degree she settled in the Pacific Northwest, where she currently resides with her family.
Kate wrote her first romance when she was sixteen, then set her pen down for years until another story floated into her head out of the clear blue sky. She jotted it down, just for fun, but soon it took on a life of its own.
