“Máira…” He took a step toward her, wanting to take her into his arms and erase the horrors she’d experienced in the hours since he saw her last. The way she quickly moved to keep distance between them, nearly gutted him and he stopped before he made her run out the door she’d just entered.
“You look as if you fought off the demons of hell and somehow won. Are you alright?” He asked.
The noise she made was decidedly unfeminine and nothing like the woman he knew. Somewhere between a snort and a growl, it was attached to a sneer that only hatred could form. “I’m breathing, if that’s what you’re asking.”
“Breathing?” Holy, bloody hell. What had he done? He was going to kill Peter and every one of his crew for not looking out for her. “I meant, do we need to fetch a surgeon?” He spoke softly, as if that would keep their conversation private in the middle of a tavern with every eye and ear observing them with avid curiosity. If he were lucky, only the barkeep and her henchman, and spoke English.
“Are you worried about my reputation? My virtue? My life? Or are you worried that I still stand on this green Earth?” Her hand rose to her chest in a display of mock distress. It succeeded in drawing every eye in the place to her damned feminine curves.
He glared at the men around him, some looked away sheepishly, others didn’t care. They would look their fill unless he challenged each and every one of them.

The battle intensified. The witch’s minions—a mix of twisted abominations and resurrected corpses—swarmed the clearing. Galen led the paladins in a valiant charge, striking down skeletal warriors only for them to rise again. Ordi and the mages unleashed torrents of arcane energy, incinerating the dark creatures. Despite their best efforts, the witch’s power seemed endless. She began summoning more skeletons to add to the chaos of the battle. Mira charged in, pounding and ripping bones apart. The skeletons reformed effortlessly, keeping her busy.
The skeletons pressed in, their bony fingers scraping and clawing, as Ordi and Mira fought back to back, the sounds of battle filling the clearing. Ordi summoned bolts of arcane magic that pierced through the skeletal frames, incinerating them to ash, but it was a fleeting victory. The skeletons reformed with unnatural speed, their rattling bones an unsettling soundtrack to the ongoing fight. Read more – link in comments.

Tell us about you as a person.
I am a pastor, chaplain, teacher, and author. I tend to have many spinning plates and enjoy keeping myself busy. Although my days are packed, I find time in the evenings to write and spend time with my family. Beyond my family and the many jobs I do, I am a pretty dull guy. I enjoy working out, reading, and fishing. I live in a small town in Iowa, and that is the perfect place to write.
If you could hang out with one famous person for one day, who would it be and why?

What’s the story behind your latest book?
I wanted to write a quest-style fantasy novel. I saw a lack of good classical fantasy novels being produced and consumed today, and sought to try and change the tides.
What advice do you have for other writers who want to get the word out about their latest book?
Something I am forever working on. Be visible in your library, bookstores, and writers’ groups. Look at attending conferences to network.

I was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York, going on to earn a business degree in accounting
from City University, NY. Soon after I found myself working in insurance and
financing and went on to marry my wonderful husband. We moved to New England.
I have spent thirteen years as a religious education teacher and have lived and worked in
New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. For the past decade, I have served as
a Eucharistic minister at my local Catholic church, bringing the Eucharist to
community nursing homes. After raising a family in CT, my husband and I became
