Global Security Unlimited Series
Whether foiling hackers, rooting out
terrorists, or providing on the ground protection against stalkers,
the operatives of Chicago-based Global Security Unlimited are on the
job, even when romance threatens to derail everything.
At First Sight
Global Security Unlimited Book 1
by Sharon Michalove
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Twenty years ago, Cress Taylor and Max Grant were strangers in Oxford,
England, but when their paths crossed, a spark was lit. Now, in the
hustle of bustling Chicago, Cress is a successful novelist receiving
mysterious threats, and Max is a former spy working for a global
security company. When Max sees Cress in a TV interview, it ignites
his curiosity. They soon find themselves tangled in an intense game
of cat and mouse. As Max swoops in to protect Cress from anonymous
threats, they must decide if they are willing to risk their hearts
and take a chance on love. As threats escalate and Max’s big Scottish
family arrives in Chicago for Christmas, Cress and Max must learn to
trust each other and overcome their fears to have a Happy New Year.
If you enjoy the development of romantic love combined with a
suspenseful thriller, you’ll love At First Sight.
This book is a second-chance romance with mature couples; smart, resilient
heroines; devastatingly adorable heroes; a contemporary urban vibe
with a slow-burn fade to black.

At the Crossroads
Global Security Unlimited Book 2
Max Grant is a former MI6 operative with a new life in Chicago, a
promising relationship with author Cress Taylor, and a past that’s
about to catch up with him. Ten years ago, Max was caught in an

testimony put a terrorist mastermind in prison. Now, the terrorist
has escaped, and he’s coming after Max. As Max is inexorably drawn
toward confrontation, he must race to stop the mastermind before he
eliminates them both. If you like travel and pulse-pounding suspense,
combine with a continuing romance, you’ll love At the

LESSER KNOWN TRAVEL TIPS SERIES
LESSER KNOWN TRAVEL TIPS SERIES
Simon Yeats
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Humor/Memoir
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
The Lesser Known Travel Tips memoirs are a hilarious series of travel misadventures and dubious personal introspection by Australian author Simon Yeats, who from an early age learned that the best way to approach the misfortunes of this world is to laugh about them.
Simon shares his comedic insights into the unusual and uproarious elements of living life as an Aussie ex-pat and having a sense of Wanderlust as pervasive as the Spanish Flu in 1918 or hordes of Mongols in 12th Century.
From how to keep yourself entertained when unwittingly forced to watch 11 hours of live sumo wrestling in Japan, to surviving heartbreak in India at the hands of a French flight attendant, to 48 hours spent in Nepal that qualify as the funniest most gut wrenching travel experience since Captain Bligh was set adrift in the Pacific, to his unsuccessful attempts at avoiding going to a brothel in Thailand. From what to do when several people converge to rob you after midnight on a deserted Copacabana Beach, to how to save the Sierra Mountain Range from a wildfire outbreak due to a lack of quality toilet paper, to where not to go in Tijuana when trying to locate the origins to stories of the city’s mythical adult entertainment, to how to save yourself from drowning when caught in a storm while sailing off the California coast. From how to outwit the Italian police while trying to find parking in downtown Genoa, to how to negotiate exploring the Roman ruins of Plovdiv, Bulgaria while on crutches, to how to impress the German Mafia with 80s dance moves, to how to leave a lasting impression on a crowded bar in Gothenburg, Sweden after combining alcohol and antibiotics.
Simon Yeats has gone into the world and experienced all the out of the ordinary moments for you to sit back and enjoy the experience without the need to break a leg, contract Dengue fever, or rupture a pancreas.

EXCERPT
Excerpt from How to Start a Riot in a Brothel in Thailand by Ordering a Beer and Other Lesser Known Travel Tips
My family’s most cherished vacation when we were all kids was a trip we took to the South Island of New Zealand in the southern hemisphere Autumn of 1980. All our relatives live on the north island where my mum and dad both grew up on dairy farms. So, we had already made a trip or two to Auckland in my young life. My parents had emigrated to live in the tropical heat and brutal humidity of the northeast of Australia before any of us kids were born and given a choice in the matter.
There are four of us in my family. An elder brother, an older sister, me, and a younger sister. Each of us is quite different in our personality and our interests. My older sister is the athlete. My younger sister is the diplomat. My brother is the brainiac. Me? Well, I tend to just sit back and let my siblings be in the limelight.
You can imagine me as being the little kid running around in the playground under a mop of red hair being extra polite with all the other kids and no one teasing me at all for having red hair. Something close to that.
But among me and my siblings, none of us ever stole a car and took off for a joy ride. None of us have ever been arrested by undercover police for trying to sell them synthetic crack cocaine we had cooked up in the basement. None of us ever got in trouble for mislabeling someone by using the wrong pronoun. I mean, sure, I once got in trouble for calling my headmaster the C-word, but, other than that small blemish on my record, I considered myself an exemplary student. Our mum and dad were amazing parents to raise us all so well.
We were a very content family growing up in the 70’s and 80’s while living in the sweltering pizza oven, otherwise known as North Queensland. What about central air conditioning? Oh, how entitled and twenty-first century of you to ask. Rubbing an ice cube across the forehead and asking my younger sister to blow against it. Does that count? Central air conditioning? No. There was none. Just like there was extraordinarily little to do in my hometown. Watching paint dry as a kid living in Townsville brought out the same level of unbridled fascination that I now see with adults viewing porn.
The reasoning behind there being nothing to do is obvious. It is not safe to do anything where I lived. Australian country towns are just holding pens for human beings surrounded by a natural species menagerie of death.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Simon Yeats has lived nine lives, and by all estimations, is fast running out of the number he has left. His life of globetrotting the globe was not the one he expected to lead. He grew up a quiet, shy boy teased by other kids on the playgrounds for his red hair. But he developed a keen wit and sense of humor to always see the funnier side of life.
With an overwhelming love of travel, a propensity to find trouble where there was none, and being a passionate advocate of mental health, Simon’s stories will leave a reader either rolling on the floor in tears of laughter, or breathing deeply that the adventures he has led were survived.
No author has laughed longer or cried with less restraint at the travails of life.

Q & A With …
What is something you’ve lied about?
I was in the back of a police car in South America and the three cops were arguing about whether to shoot me in the head and dump my body in a dumpster. (One was for it, one was against it, the other was on the fence)
The cop who wanted to shoot me turned to me, stuck his gun in my face and asked, ‘are you scared?’
I told him, ‘no.’
I lied. I was shitting my pants.
Who is the last person you hugged?
My girlfriend. I do it a hundred times a day as she is such a huggable person. And there is nothing that helps calm me down like a good hug. We sometimes take a break from her working at her computer and me at mine just to meet up in the middle of the living room for a hug.
What are you reading now?
Don’t Tell Mom I Work On The Rigs: She Thinks I’m a Piano Player in a Whorehouse
How do you come up with the titles to your books?
Ha, I started off with short snappy titles for my books that were designed to show the thrills and action of my life. CHASED. SHOT AT. RUPTURED INTESTINES. But then I did not think that these titles properly showed my personality or my humor. So I went with the longest titles I thought would fit on the cover of a book. Everyone who looks at the titles of the Lesser Known Travel Tips series says the same thing, ‘those are the longest titles I have ever seen.’ I know. Isn’t it great? Despite all the worry that having a long title would scare off readers, I did it anyway because it fit one key underlying theme of the series. Just because someone else doesn’t think you should do it, that shouldn’t stop you. Because otherwise a person will die and realize that they spent their entire life doing what other people thought was right for them and were too scared to live their own life for fear of what other people would think.
Share your dream cast for your book.
I write memoirs, so what you are asking is who do I want to play me? I want Sean Connery to play me. We can use AI computer graphics to make him look like he is 20 years old and we can dub his Scottish Accent so he sounds Australian. Sean will bring the charisma, charm, and panache that I sadly lack in reality, but it is Hollywood, so I have full license to cast whoever I want.
For my annoying Kiwi mate Snapper, I will need to find an actor from New Zealand who has that silly accent and who thinks the All Black rugby team is the greatest thing in the world. That would be anyone of them.
For the Air France Stewardess who broke my heart in India, I would like to see Pamela Anderson play the role. Again, we will need to use AI digital editing to make Pam look 30 years younger and do a voice over to give a French accent. Did the Air France stewardess look anything like Pam Anderson? I do not know. I never saw her in a bathing suit. The point is that I do not want to limit myself to what other people think would be the right people to play the roles. Besides, they are actors, they are paid to act.

Genre: Cozy Mystery
Turning thirty can be murder!
When a body is discovered next to the Little Dog Diner on her milestone

to her thirties is turning into more of an upside-down cake than a
celebration as she uncovers money, a business scandal, and thwarted
love at the core of this crime.
It will take the victim’s black Labrador and finding a winning lottery
ticket to solve this mystery, but Dani never throws in the towel.
Will she and Pip once again use their experience at solving mysteries
to bring justice to Misty Harbor, Maine, or will they be caught in
the crosshairs of the killer?

EXCERPT
The room stinks, the historic stench of soiled human bodies is overpowering.
There are No Smoking signs posted at either end of the room but the smeared and dirty state of windows suggests years of people defying that advice. When we first met, I was willing to give the man the benefit of doubt, but the way he looks at me now is a challenge; maybe I was right – he is a total bastard after all. In all fairness it’s been a long day for him, and an even longer one for me. Leaning back in his chair he stares into space for a full two minutes before speaking, his voice gravelled with fatigue.
“Let me ask you this Ryan. If we swapped places and you were me, sitting here in my chair, would you believe one single word of the statement you’ve made today?” He takes a breath before continuing. “You need to quiet the waves.”
“Sorry?”
“You need to pull something special out of the bag to get you off the hook here, Ryan. You’re on your own in a single boat in the middle of a raging storm and without a change of direction to pacify me you’re in real trouble my friend.”
My friend? I’m screaming inside – it is not a story – it’s the truth, but the point he’s making is fair, because even I have a job to believe the witness statement I’ve just signed. Much has happened in the few days since I left Rennes, almost too much to recollect properly and somewhat impossible to comprehend. Last Friday seems like a hundred years ago, and yet it feels like only a few hours have passed since I was sitting in the city square, relaxed, drinking coffee and reflecting on my life.

Q & A With Michael Ross author of Quiet the Waves.
Tell us about you as a person.
Never imagined there was “a book inside me,” until I started a university course in English Literature as a mature student, which encouraged me to take up creative writing classes. Within thirty minutes of finishing the first class I wrote my first short story.
If you could hang out with one famous person for one day, who would it be and why?
William Shakespeare. I am sure an hour would be more than enough, but the chance to wander the streets of Elizabethan London with him, ‘chewing the fat,’ wow just the mere thought sends shivers down my spine.
What’s the story behind your latest book?
This book has been hanging around in my head for 30 years, after the time I delivered a car from the UK for a friend to Portugal. I loved the journey, just me, foreign travel, time to stop and start whenever and wherever I pleased. I stayed the night in a random hotel in Northern Spain and when I paid the bill in the morning the receptionist was moody and wouldn’t meet me in the eyes, I got back into the car, and as I drove south whichever radio station, I tried they were playing the most miserable music, even down into Portugal. After lunch that day I got a phone call from a friend telling me that Princess Di had died in a car crash that night. My oblivion to this world-shattering event has stuck with me, I started twisting the story to have my main character delivering the car back to the UK, not realising just how important this journey would be in the story of his lifetime.
What advice do you have for other writers who want to get the word out about their latest book?
Set yourself a budget before you start that process, there are so very many blind alleys to stumble down.
List 5 things on your bucket list.
Take a month to drive north to south down the American west coast, in memory of my father.Visit Jamaica with friends who can introduce me to the real island.More driving around; touring Italy with my partner, taking as long as it takes! One last skiing holiday before I kick that very same bucket.Any final thoughts?
Thank you so much for hosting this stopover and getting my brain box working again. Mike

Brekke Elle is a word tinker, coffee drinker, and has clumsy thumbs (or so
she claims to excuse typos!). A Georgia peach living in the heart of
North Carolina, Brekke has traveled and lived around the world –
including attending the University of Cambridge in England, interning
for an NGO in rural Cambodia, and working at a university in Northern
California. Along the way she has collected stories (and a bit of bad
poetry too). Her first real desire to become a writer (more than just
wanting to be Jo March when she was 9) was after reading SABRIEL by
Garth Nix. It was the first world she ever wanted to fall sideways
into, and she has been recreating those lush worlds for readers ever
since.
When she’s not losing herself in
her imaginary universes, Brekke spends most of her time chasing her
four kids (including twin toddlers!), canning up homecooked chicken
broth, and volunteering at a neighborhood community garden. Her
favorite color is black (no, really), her favorite fairy tale is
Beauty and the Beast (preferable one of Robin McKinley’s
retellings), and her favorite drink is coffee until 3pm, then it’s
a full bodied Pinot Noir.

EXCERPT
There is a direct correlation between the amount of love we feel in life and the freedom we give to our soul.
It is true that the heart knows what the mind cannot see, and it is also true that the soul lives in what the heart loves.
The loves we have in life allow us to know the soul’s resolve. They are urges of the soul’s wish to know life. They give us signposts of our soul’s intention, and where the heart can find joy.
They are the aspects of life where the soul seeks freedom; the times and places where we become, in that loved moment, set free from our labour and become the dream that we love.
We are then both lost and found at the same time. Lost to the mystery of life and found within the company of the love we have made.
If we do not love we confine our soul, for it is in the quest of love that the soul fulfils its purpose on earth.
Our love may be known from a sight in nature, a piece of art, a song, within the company of loved ones, or any of the thousand things that lighten the heart and inspire the mind.
Our loves are always close, beckoning us to adventure. Their presence has pushed and pulled us throughout our life.
Their persuasion is for us to make a way that is true to ourselves; an indigenous journey that honours the deeper truth of who we are.
They light the path to our true happiness, and often, to our greatest self-learning. For the journey that loves take us on is often not what we expect.
They will cause us to dig deep into the mystery of ourselves in order to summon the courage to surrender our old security for the adventure that love will always bring.
But when we love what we do, put our heart into it, then love’s providence empowers the heart and inspires the mind.
