Helpers in Style--Voted-off Designers from Season 18 "Project Runway" get to come back as "Helpers", for the "Tuxedo" Design Challenge--Season 18 "Project Runway" Bravo TV "Tuxedo" Design Challenge, Brooklyn NY
In Episode 9 of Season 18 "Project Runway" on Bravo TV, the designers got the task of "re-inventing" the classic "Le Smoking"--or Tuxedo Look. This look has been an icon of FASHION since THE MASTER Yves Saint Laurent created "Le Smoking", a chic take on the Tuxedo Suit, for women, put into Fashion History by those iconic Helmut Newton photos:

When the Challenge was announced, voted-off designers were brought back, much to the delight of the remaining designers, to help them with their designs...

On Episode 5 of Bravo's Season 18 "Project Runway", the designers were tasked to design looks for the iconic CYNDI LAUPER !!! As a Consulting Producer on the show, I had the unique opportunity of yes, working on this episode, as well as making sure we paid homage to THE CYNDI LAUPER. Was she Pop? Or Punk? Or both? It was up to our designers to figure it out! We broke them up in two teams to create capsule collections based on their inspirations.

Upcycled Style--Design from Season 18 "Project Runway" Designers (L to R) Geoffrey Mac, Nancy Volpe Beringer, Victoria Cocieru, Chelsey Carter and Delvin McCray--Bravo TV "Project Runway" Season 18, Brooklyn NY
Happy New Year and Happy "Project Runway" Season 18!! As a Consulting Producer on Bravo's "Project Runway", I multi-task and one of the many hats that I add to my "Multi-Task Plate" is to capture photos of the models in the finished creations of our designers. It is something I do for several reasons:
A) To make sure I know what design corresponds with which designer;
B) Memorialize the Runway Line-up;
C) For Social Media...so I can honor each of our contestants/designers with photos that they are not able to take (since they...well...cannot, since we do not allow them to have phones/cameras).

Goodwill Project Runway--Goodwill Brooklyn
For Episode 4 , the designers were tasked to create Upcycled Clothing looks from Goodwill . The designers went to Goodwill Brooklyn and got recycled clothing to create a look for Karlie Kloss for a CFDA event in Paris. For some reason, many of the designers went straight to the suit jackets and pants on the racks, others got some tops, skirts, and denim as well (one designer got TWELVE PAIRS of jeans!!). I loved being a consulting producer "fly on the wall" while our designers shopped at the Goodwill Brooklyn because, frankly, I was kind of shopping myself! (Couldn't find any vintage Gucci...Darn!)

"Curated" by NYNJ Pop-up Shop--Goodwill Brooklyn
I especially loved the "Curated" Pop-up Shop/section in the store, which featured more "upscale" clothing, that had been curated by the Goodwill in-house merchandisers/stylists, like "here is the really trend-fab stuff!"
Let's get to what our contestants/designers made!!! Here are photos I captured backstage--BEFORE THE RUNWAY--of the designs from our Season 18 "Project Runway" designers:
