Overcome, Change, Adapt ~ Life (fears)
2 thousand & twenty, what a year.
A pandemic rages like the wildfires. The fire eventually burns out, some lose their homes while others lose their pets. The pandemic though? Sheesh!
Many lose a loved one. This is sad.
For all of the rest of the world, new fears. Fear that we might catch it.
Fears that, are the schools going to be safe?
Fears that, the person next to me in a shop might have it.
Fears that public transport & vacations could be where I will definitely catch it.
Fears that, my government has no clue how to handle it.
Fears that, tourists automatically carry "the plague".
Fears that, handshakes and hugs are a thing of the past.
There have been times in my own life that when someone offered their hand to me to shake as a greeting, I would not do the, "shake hands" thing. I would simply make a comment with a smile / smirk, "I don't know where that has been". Laugh it off and not shake their hand. I always did it with a half an idea of the fact that this is how disease spreads. Today in 2020, I am more clear about this now.
So how the heck does a population overcome the fears, adapt to the situation & change life as we know it?
All scary words that many have avoided for centuries. The concept of "CHANGE" has always been branded as something fearful,
"I fear change"
The idea of "OVERCOME" has always been branded as some sort of struggle.
"we will fight & we will overcome"
The exact same goes for how to "ADAPT"
Somewhere along the development of the English language in sync with population evolving, these words have become fearful words.
My suggestion to you, when you change your words and how you use them ~ you can change how you react and how you live.
We can alter things slightly or "flip the script", we can introduce ideas into how we view things and we can use our very powerful minds to completely transform how we see things.
Why would we bother to do this?
The simple answer is that we can begin to bring about a happier, calmer, more content person inside of ourselves.
Example
Some will say "I fear change"
Flip the script.
Some will now say "I welcome change"
Changing one simple word in how we view a change in our lives can be more than powerful in developing a life strategy to aid in adapting to this new world and new life.
It really is that simple. Replacing one simple word in how we tell ourselves things.
Another example of replacing words in how we talk to ourselves.
I must overcome; to, I will overcome.
This makes it a more easier task. Simply by replacing the word "must" with "will". By telling myself I will overcome makes it a fact in my life. Telling myself I must makes a difficult task.
These are simple examples of how we can change our words inside of our mind. What we can actually achieve is perhaps even beyond comprehension at the moment.
How do I know these things?
Through my own life I have had to alter course a few times. Each time I had many questions and for me it all seemed to be too difficult to struggle and continue.
What I did not know at the time was that I was developing a strategy inside of myself of mindfulness. I did not know that is what it was called. Out of complete necessity I had to break life down to the most basic I could.
Inside of myself I needed to remind myself and begin to learn and teach myself that what is our most basic need.
I needed to breathe, without breath I would die. Add on to this that I needed food and I needed rest.
Through practising these basics needs for a few days, perhaps over the course of 1 whole month, changes began happening inside of myself.
I could see things clearer, I began to see answers where questions used to be. The will to live and the ability to smile returned. I was becoming mindful of my thoughts and how I felt, these helped me identify the negative thoughts and the fears. By replacing tiny little words inside of my mind on how I saw situations and the events of the past helped me rebuild to a stronger human, who now could be happy within change. I became content with having to adapt to life. The ability to overcome has proven to be not that much hassle at all.
Sounds easy doesn't it?
What I have learned is that it really is quite simple. Practicing the way in which we use our words inside of our own lives can bring us the ability to
Overcome, Adapt & Change.
These are things that do not require us to introduce or continue in believing in the beautiful concept that society seduces us with of how these things are 1.difficult 2.fearful 3.struggle
All ya have to do is change the way in which you use your words inside of your mind.
I welcome change.
I will overcome.
I find it easy to adapt.
That is it, simply strategy for a content life. The easy and simple way to manage your mind amid pandemic.

Energy, feelings, tired ~. FRIDAY FEELING
The end of the week has arrived. The weekend of rest and relaxation lies ahead.
What will one do this weekend?
During corona times, how does anyone know whether it is midweek, weekend or even Monday all day everyday?
What will you do this weekend?
Fewer and fewer places to go or things to do. One does not want to catch any lurking viruses nor sit at home again and again. Though one needs a release and some activity to cope with lockdown and virus life.
A stay cation is great to get a change of scenery and a little picker upper dose, maybe even only for a Saturday drive somewhere for a spot of lunch.
The tiniest of changes in scenery can bring about a relaxation. A feel good vibe for example. After all you have made it through another week. Life is a little different due to corona and so for this reason perhaps to simplify the weekend might just be a beautiful way to spend your time.
Friday Feeling of tired from the Monday to Friday 9 to 5 and a hint of excitement for the weekend ahead.
I need energy though!
This could very well be your feeling on a Friday. So to this I have a little hint also for ya.
Take 20 minutes of your entire life and unwind. Sit back and listen to some of your favourite music. Take some tea and put your feet up. Only 20 minutes from your entire life will bring about a shift in your emotions and allow your whole body catch back up with itself.
Head into the weekend fresh, head away on your Saturday and enjoy it.
I as an author of books do indeed push to you the option of spending Saturday reading a book. I mention the whole day like this as I have heard that if you start reading one of my books you will want to keep going and not put it down once you get started.
"Oh my God, where will I get that kind of time?"
I hear you asking this, just like the 20 minutes on Friday to allow your feelings and energy get back in line with each other.
The book for you this weekend and every weekend.
Layman's Handbook, in life.
Simple tools to change how we live.

DRUGS ~ seriously though
A topic that is rarely a discussion. Something that brings on tons of paranoia by just being a topic of conversation, never mind when actually in use (being used).
When I was a younger man, a teenager, so perhaps could call myself either an older boy or a younger man. When I was a teenager I was a drug user. I would always be the first to defend my own drug use, as this is part of being a drug user. I also would have been an advocate for the harmless nature of mild drug use. There were things I might say like
"It is natural from a plant and so it cannot be too harmful".
Or
"Many people could do with getting high as it may unwind them a little bit. Too many people up tight and need such a release".
A couple of lines I believe I have used back in the day. I am not a teenager any more nor am I a drug user any more. Is this maturity? Is this a natural passing of time and course of life?
I would have to suppose so as there are many people I have heard say things like "oh no, not since college" or "remember those days, OMG not now".
Perhaps it is a normal run of events to have had a little dabble back in the younger years.
What about now though?
What are the differences in those who have continued drug use and those who have not? What are the differences between those who do use drugs and those who do not? What if any are the differences for the teenagers now and those of when I was younger?
Today in 2020 it is definitely a much different time as to when I was a teenager through the late 80's and early 90's.
I see that the youth of today are in a completely different time and perhaps have tougher times than how it was for me.
There is also a different element present today that involves how the youth are more open with each other.
The reasons I am no longer a drug user are quite simple. This day 27 years ago, I was escorted by police to a "treatment facility" for teens. Yup handcuffed and escorted from a prison cell to a facility where there were a handful of other teenage boys, all of whom were there to give up drugs and a messy lifestyle.
The rules of that facility were simple ; No drugs & No fighting.
2 simple rules, that was that.
I benefitted from group therapy, one to one therapy, lessons on the affects of drug use. Attending Narcotics anonymous meetings was a weekly occurance and an all round vibe of the house was getting to know one's self from the inside out and the outside in.
As I look back, I can remember it was not an easy time in life. The element of being incarcerated was always hanging over one's head at the time. There were many restrictions upon those of us living at / in the facility at that time.
Screw the fairy tale of how nice and great the place was though.
Let's chat about the actual drugs for a minute.
Why do we use them?
What is it we think / believe is going to become better by using them?
How can they become so immediately addictive?
What piece of ourselves do we find unworthy and try to chase it away with an occasional high?
Interesting questions really.
Let us think about why we might use some form of drug or another.
What may be referred to as "recreational drug use". A drug is a drug. We take prescription drugs to help our body repair sometimes. The drugs I am talking about are those that bring about some form of change inside of our minds. The so called "mood altering or mind altering" drugs.
What is the mind set or mood that we wish to alter?
We could say "oh my life is shit" so this could be a mood that we wish to alter and so for this reason we reach for some form of "high" to escape the feeling of feeling shit.
We could have enormous pain inside of our emotional self that we have never been clear about (nobody ever took any time to teach us about our emotions) again a reason for us to chase away the feelings by altering our mood. So we reach for some drugs and chase the feelings away and we get high.
Of course there is the cycle of events that takes place while using drugs,
1. Feel like shit.
2. Use drugs to escape the feeling.
3. Get high and feel some "fake feelings" of happy and wonderful.
4. Come back down from the high and return to feeling shit.
5. Return to a new low or perhaps even lower as the come down can leave one feeling much worse than before the drug use.
6. Get high again to escape the shit feeling.
7. Rinse repeat and there we have a continuous drug use habit formed as we wish to stay high as often as possible.
The points above are to make an attempt to show how if we never began the drug use in the first place we may have had a chance of never feeling like, worse. And to show how easy the cycle is to fall in to.
I have only mentioned an example of making attempts to escape one's feelings. Which in turn raises a question for me,
What is it about our feelings that are so strange and unusual and scary?
Why do we wish to "escape"?
Ah yes it would be great if I had a magic answer for you right about here. I do not.
I believe by investigating inside of ourselves is the only way to begin on a path away from drug use. As we are all different and we all carry different pains and traumas, it is impossible for me to say there is a one size fits all fix or repair to changing a drug use habit.
What I do know, is that escaping from our feelings is always and only ever a temporary thing. We can stuff our feelings away and bury them, though only ever for a while. They always resurface and we then can feel forced to deal with them. What happens if we continue to stuff a bin liner and keep on stuffing the bin line bag with shit & rubbish? Yup it eventually bursts along the seam and shit starts leaking out from the sides of it. Perhaps we could do this inside of our own kitchen and then we have a mess to clean up as rubbish has spilled out of the bin liner and all over the floor. This is kind of similar to how feelings and emotions begin to leak out sideways from us. The feelings we have been stuffing and trying to escape from with our drug use, they begin to spill out sideways too. Possibly in a cranky outburst of nasty talk to people who we have no real reason to try and hurt. Sometimes it could be through violent reactions to others. The simplest aspect of the cycle of drug use can be the turning the nastiness on ourselves. Inflict more self hate onto ourselves by tricking ourselves into believing that if we take more drugs and stay high more often, then we can escape all of the time. Which as mentioned above can mean we go into a worse place when we finally come down from the high. So in a round about way, we know inside of ourselves that if we want to hurt even more, we use drugs for a temporary high and then we return to feeling even more shit and quite often angry. Anger is one of those emotions that can form out of nowhere and is said to be the go to emotion when we have stuffed and stuffed and escaped and escaped all of the time. A bitter feeling of anger can become the default emotion of our life.
We may not like to feel angry and bitter so we convince ourselves to get high again to escape it.
Weird though a simple cycle of events.
We as adults now are fully aware that the high is only temporary. We are also aware that there is more pain and feelings of not feeling too good afterwards. So why would we do such things as get high?
I have a firm believe that if a person is totally functioning and has a good attitude in life and they are a drug user, then my question to you if this is somebody you are. Can you imagine how absolutely great you could be should the drug use be removed?
I guess knowing the high is always only temporary, we are looking to escape for a little while. We are looking for a high to take away whatever is going on inside of ourselves. And we know it is only temporary.
The question.
Begin to look for new ways of finding temporary high moments in life. Can this be so awful?
We can build a new habit (should we need habits to continue on a path). A new habit of finding nice things from life. The air we breathe, the trees and the flowers of nature. A beautiful sunset or sunrise. Any moment where we are happy to be alive. For a beginning we will only need little moments. Many people use things like yoga or meditation to bring themselves to a moment. A moment in our lives to pause and enjoy the whole and actual part of who we are. A moment of peace, a moment to where we no longer wish to escape. A moment where we begin to feel stable and steady and happy to be.
For me it is perhaps a little easier as I have been practising such things on and off for over 27 years now.
When I add to those 27 years some 9 years of dealing with trauma and very deep and hurtful pains, I perhaps have developed a deeper habit of using moments of happiness as a way not to escape life. A way in which to feel alive, very alive. A way in which to be in full presence in my life, emotionally and mindfully.
It is from simple steps of staying focused on why I may feel one way or another. Understanding that any shift from a substance would only be temporary and understanding that it is the emotions and feelings that are so beautiful and precious, it is from these understandings that I have remained drug free.
There are silver linings to all kinds of grey clouds in our lives. There are ways in which we can begin to feel okay. For me it is a beautiful thing to be able to be emotional and to be able to feel anything at all. Sometimes it can be pain and hurtful feelings. These too I now embrace as I am grateful to be able to feel and when I feel anything I know I am alive. This feeling of feeling alive is far superior or much nicer than any feeling I have ever had from "being high".
So the formula is simple.
Life, feel life, feel authentic, feel feelings no matter be they good feelings or bad feelings. They are all only feelings and they continue to come and go.
Remember how I began and I mentioned how the drug use topic of conversation can bring about paranoia?
If you think I am talking to you directly inside of this blog post, that is the paranoia I was talking about. When we use drugs the paranoia tends to come on a little stronger too.
There is a way in life to be drug free. It is not all a bed of roses though, for me I have found it is a much more tasteful and enriching way to be.
I could use more examples and tell you many many stories of great things and some not so great things. I think at this point, I have said enough.
Just like train spotting says.
Choose life.

Pride, who isn't proud?
So the question is in the title, who isn't proud of themselves?
I understand we are coming to the end of pride month and that corona has put a stop to a lot of parades and the likes.
The looting and riots definitely took center stage over any gay pride festivals.
So who is NOT proud?
I read many of the posts all over the Internet about "BLM". I have seen a lot of footage of corona virus related lockdown & opening up posts and actions of different countries governments.
I have also seen a few, not a lot of gay pride mentions for pride month.
I am considered to be a heterosexual male. I am not a homosexual and so have no direct interest or concern about pride day, week or month.
My question about who is not proud is really for all of any sexual orientation. As an Irish man, we have always used the pride and proud words. There have been times in my own life when I have listened to an Irish ballad and they sing the words "be a proud Irish man", this is something that could make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. We Irish people have always been very proud of our country.
Proud Irish people.
So for real though, who is not proud? I know us Irish cannot be different from any other country or nationality. How many times have you turned on the TV to CNN or FOX, CBS even. The very proud Americans and the extremely proud Americans who are trump supporters. Funny thing, how come all of the trump supporters seem to be the only ones who think they are the proud ones? Almost as if, if you are not a trump supporter then you could not be a proud American.
Maybe perhaps "pride" changes depending on your political views, your nationality or your sexual orientation. (I was so tempted to write deviance there instead of orientation lol). I did not write deviance as that would suggest I am only writing to the gay community. Orientation can be your view point or acceptance of the subject rather than a way in which you have deviated in your sexual preferences. Deviated from the so called norm, so to speak.
Who is not proud?
I like to believe in a world where everybody is proud of themselves. Their families and their country. I guess I have always believed that we all should be proud of our own society.
Come to think of it, I have a list of things in my own story that I may or may not be proud of. That is for another day though.
I believe that any gay person who has to declare how proud they are of being gay is something to be admired. I suppose that here in my own country that our own day of celebration of pride is St Patrick's day both here in Ireland and around the world. We celebrate it with a parade also. So what is wrong with that?
This year due to corona virus outbreak, St Patrick's day celebrations and parades were cancelled. We fell by the wayside due to corona as has the pride parades.
As I am typing away here, I am also thinking of how or what it might be like to be a "coloured" person. Who has been ill treated for centuries only because of the colour of their skin. I am of course aligning this along with the homosexual community who also may have received ill treatment due to their "gayness". There is nothing wrong, bad or in any way different with any person who is gay. There is nothing wrong bad or different about a coloured person. There is nothing wrong, bad or different about an Irish person either.
I guess it boils down to individuals and your opinion really. My opinion is that every human has and rightly deserves to be proud of themselves for even the smallest of things in life.
Their heritage, their skin colour or their sexual orientation.
People are people.
Can we not let every person BE?
AH yes, I could be considered to be a leftest Liberal who knows nothing and who has a mental disability.
I could also be considered to be a right wing extremist who supports kkk and should damn all to hell who dare cross the boundaries of a book of religious teachings.
I am neither left or right wing. I believe in people. I believe in society and I believe in life.
Your choices beyond that are fully supported by me providing they do not hurt any other person along the way.
This cannot determine me a leftest or a righty, right?
I believe each and every person has the full deserved privilege to be proud of themselves and not only a minority group.
I am interested to hear your opinion on the matter.

Monday Motivation ~ Father's day gone & now the days get shorter.
How about that folks? Father's day and the longest day of the year all rolled in to one.
Some poor fathers had to endure much longer than others due to this and some others wished it would never end.
I suppose I write this post as a message to fathers and moms can probably get it too. Actually there is a large chance the moms will read it and maybe share with or recommend the post to their hubby.
The longest day of the year has passed. It will be soon that the "neggo nellies" will be saying how they can notice the days getting shorter.
Here is a whopping "fun fact" for ya all.
The days are always the same length. 24 hours.
Brightness and darkness may change around a little and so of course we have shorter brightness hours.
So, wrapped up in the longest day of the year was father's day, this year. Wow. What a remarkable coincidence.
For fathers everywhere know that this one day is a day they wish could be everyday.
Something unusual about it and something worth mentioning,
There are many fathers in the world and some of them have made their children with a woman and when it comes down to this day fathers day, they perhaps might not deserve it.
A sad reality.
Just like the sun moving around the earth and how the bright hours of days will slowly become shorter. The fact remains that some guys have made beautiful children and they do not care about them.
There are some guys out there that have nothing to do with their children.
Some guys out there find every excuse in the book, not to be able to make time for their children.
What a crock of, you know what.
I find this hard to get my head around. I am quite certain that many of you have always got something to do more important than your children.
The piece I am even more certain about is that when a day like father's day comes along, there are many men who hold their chest out as the mighty father. When 364 days of the year they too are like the sunshine. Many dark days. Short visits to their children. The odd note here and there or text or maybe a quick video.
I was once an absentee father. I did not see my son everyday. I did not take him shopping when it was time to get shower gel and razors.
I did not hound him to clean up his room nor did I hold him when things were not going right.
I was an absentee father.
I communicated with him as often as possible and tried very hard to nurture an open policy of always telling each other everything. We did not speak everyday and so when we did, I always wanted for a true and genuine chat.
When we did see each other, I knew he loved me and I was quite certain he knew I loved him.
So because I was an absentee father, I understand the guilt and the pains of missing special days with him. I also can tell you "free of charge" that every waking hour possible is time to be involved with your child's life.
Who am I to mention these things as if to point a finger of blame or make clear how lame any father is who does not make time for their children?
That is right, I am nobody special.
Who am I to bring about a real topic of why it is such a waste of time to call yourself a father and then have no dealings with your children?
That is right, I am nobody special.
Who am I to mention how it is almost disgusting to call yourself a father and then make more time for your new girlfriend than your children?
That is right, I am nobody special.
Who am I to bring up that it is appalling to not visit your children because you cannot handle the drama from your ex?
That is right, I am nobody special.
Who am I to mention that all fathers who make excuses and make no time for their children and be involved with their minds even or their emotions?
That is right, I am nobody special.
Who am I to think it is okay to lay the guilt out there for fathers who decide that work is more important than their children?
That is right, I am nobody special.
Who am I to judge a man who does not make time to be some way involved in their child's life?
That is right, I am nobody special.
Who am I to think of how pathetic a guy is to boast about his children to all around him, yet he has nothing to do with them and leaves all the fathering up to the single parent?
That is right, I am nobody special.
Just like the summer months and the sunshine hours of each day, they change. One day it is the longest daylight hours and then in the blink of an eye it will be the shortest daylight hours. That is the cycle of life on our planet. Well, just like these ever changing time lines of daylight, our children change too. Our children are growing all of the time. Their needs are changing and their ways of thinking are changing.
Are you a father who deserves a father's day or just someone who deserves to have 18 or 19 hours of daylight to sit back and figure out where you might be going wrong?
I am going to share a link with you. The link will bring you to my 1st ever memoir. The title is TWO sons TOO many.
I wrote it for myself and then through a few readers feedback I learned that perhaps there are many fathers out there who could do with reading about my story.
When I asked above about who am I to say this or that.
The answer lies in you reading this book.
Click the link, get the book and we can discuss further.
Here is to the rest of summer "covid 'n' all".
Do yourself a massive favour and read, TWO sons TOO many.
You can thank me later and enjoy being a father again.

Friday feeling ~ To Mask or not to Mask?
The corona virus is still out there and among us. There really seems to be "No end in sight". What a mess indeed.
A lot of material can be taken from how people seem to say what they have heard on a news broadcast or read from the Internet. All kinds of conflicting viewpoints.
This kind of thing has been happening since day 1 of the pandemic.
Now that complacency has really kicked in, it does appear that many are calling for how it will not be gone for possibly years.
I even read an article that began to say how the virus was worse than HIV. HIV having had a whole bunch of years study done on it and that the corona virus may be, worse!
For this exact reason I began to wonder again about the corona virus. Complacemcy or renegade type attitude kicked in with myself too. I noticed myself not using the mask as much anymore. I noticed myself washing my hands less often, I remind myself several times. The fact I do not know of any individual directly in or around me that has the virus or has had the virus. Perhaps it is a reason for my own stupidity. During this past week, I promised myself to get back to where I was in my mindset at the beginning fo the pandemic and take every precaution.
I began to wonder and in a conversation with a friend recently about the mask issue I found myself making a comparison or a likeness to an STD. Perhaps the article I had read about the virus having the potential to be worse than HIV, maybe this is what has brought around my process of thought.
Should you wear a mask all of the time when out in public?
2 points to consider.
(1) To not wear a mask may increase your risk of getting the corona virus.
(2) To wear a mask may increase your chance of NOT getting the corona virus.
Here lies the likeness to an STD & not necessarily HIV though.
Condoms exist to reduce the risk of catching diseases while engaging in sexual activities.
Any person who has ever contracted a sexually transmitted disease has for sure wished they had used a condom. Quite simple really.
People who practice "safe sex" have always used condoms. Again, quite simple really.
So?
If you do not care if you catch the corona virus, then you will continue to proceed without ever wearing a mask when in public locations like shops or supermarkets.
Just like the unprotected sex, you do not care if you catch it. An attitude of "if I catch it, I catch it".
Should you be a person who believes in "safe sex" and would always use condoms, then it stands to reason you sshould wear a mask.
Perhaps we can replace or switch around the wording a little bit.
Practice safe sex? Use a condom!
Let us begin to think of it in the same way.
Want to start trying to practice "safe living"?
Then wear a mask.
How much more simple does the concept of wearing a mask have to be.
There have always been those who have not used condoms and they have continued the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
There will be those who do not wish to use a mask. They will catch the disease and they will spread the disease.
I do not have exact figures so I am guessing to emphasis the example.
0% - 100% this is the scale I will use.
Wear a mask 80% protection posibilty.
Not wear a mask 20% protection posibilty.
Which would you really choose?
Do you have a desire to contract an STD?

Short read ~ 2020 in review?
2020 in review, now that we are half way through. Not to rhyme on purpose or anything. Though I will take it.
2020 in review (holy shit) we half way thru. Yikes!
The entire world has been through the mill and back this poxy year. Holy fricken hell.
No it aint just you.
Virus literally knocking the be jaysus out of the entire world community. What an absolute mess.
Oh, what's the be jaysus?
It is an Irish way of saying what our British buddies might say like ~
"Good grief my good fellow, he has had the stuffing knocked completely out of him"
We Irish preferred to shorten things a little bit and so when they were teaching us their super language, we decided on a few short cuts. There is a heap of them. And one simple one is to have the "be jaysus" knocked out of you.
Enough with the joking around though.
2020 has been one simple F K C U year for sure. I cannot believe my eyes. What has been going on?
I remember the good people of Iraq years ago when they dragged the Sadam Hussain statue to the ground as a sign of liberation and all.
What has being going on around the world?
Has pandemic lockdown brought about this much IRE?
Viral videos of police brutality.
Political crisis in countries where they are known as the so called "civilised world".
Riots and tear gas fired right outside the White House lawn in the US.
What?
9 minutes of video to see one man lose his life.
What?
The ultimate when it comes to what we can call "atrocious" or refer to as "absolute disgrace".
I get it when anyone will post or mention BLM.
I am even shaking my head right now in utter disbelief.
(the trouble is that it is and has all happened)
Here in Ireland where the pandemic has taken it's toll on many by way of death from the virus.
There are many others just like all of your countries. There are many who will and or have lost their business. Lost their jobs. Lost their freedom to lockdown and cocooning. Lost their minds in the most bizarre year the world has ever known.
It brings great satisfaction to many to hear about reopening.
It brings so much satisfaction that Irish people show how they have become a country that has lost their mind by overcrowding places on their first day of reopening.
The little shop that might never open again though? What about the local town independent fella?
To revisit the riots and the satisfaction it brings to many to hear of how laws are being changed and how changes are happening from the top down. These are probably some of the greatest things to ever happen.
If only it could be world wide and not only in the United States though.
I understand how disastrous and horrific George Floyd's death has been. One day he was a man walking around and the next day his name was spoken in every corner of the world. Change is happening in law reform policies thanking to his life. I wish he could have known such fame and a life of fortune while living. I think he should be happy right now to see what he has meant to so many around the world.
Around the world though.
The protests could do with some more oomph though.
Maybe it is time to take a look at countries where not only do statues need to be taken down.
Sick, sad, disgusting people need to be taken down too.
There still exist slave trades in the modern world. There are countries right now that have men and women of colour in chains and tied up waiting to be sold as workers.
There are "sweat shops" still in existence.
There exists hatred and murders happen everyday of people and nations due to the colour of their skin or due to their religion.
Would it be possible for this kind of protest type thing to be kept going until the sick individuals of the world are brought to justice?
Who do I refer to?
Would it be possible to rid the Internet and the world of paedophilia?
Would it be possible to protest and march and take down the people who wish to continue the trafficking of slaves, women for prostitution, children for dispicable acts?
2020 a year in review & yet only half way through.
What differences can be made going forward? What difference in life can we make to make better OUR world?
The world belongs to us all.
Carbon emissions, great! This is great how so many wish to take children from school and bring about protests on governments to get serious and responsible about carbon and green energies. I am all for it.
I would ask that perhaps we, the world that is, take a stand against the ruining of children by protecting them from sickos of our world.
Not to protect the protesting child of the developed world. The child who can in luxory or have the luxory to protest carbon emissions.
The child of war torn nations. The child of poverty stricken nations. The child who is starving. The child who has been left foraging for food in the streets to survive in nations that also know great wealth.
The divide of wealth being so uneven that on one hand a fat steak dinner awaits a political representative who has spent all day discussing more exploitation of their people while he is chauffeur driven across the city to a dinner reservation, a child walks bare foot to rummage in a garbage can for scraps of food that may have been left by the industrious lunch break takers. As the politician drives right past
Oh boy, oh boy 2020 if they only knew & yet only half way through.
What of the humans around the world in refugee camps. Human beings who due to war or greed have been driven to severe poverty. They sit and wait for UN to bring sacks of rice and if they are lucky an extra blanket for cold nights.
Do you have a march and a protest planned for these people?
Please, do not get me wrong here. I find myself helpless even in my own immediate city.
The daily rants and oposing political arguments were focused on how over 10 thousand people are homeless and in desperate need of food and shelter.
Somehow the pandemic hit and there went the rag mags of newspapers and their constant efforts of stirring the pot with homeless stories, one after another.
Oh 2020 what a year to review & another half to try and convince you.
The children of the world are the future. These are the facts. Cannot be denied.
All the super law makers and changers of today will be dead and gone by the time a young person of today grows up and becomes one of the law makers and law changers.
Will it be backwards the world will go?
Not possible as it is the future. This is where we are heading so another fact that it cannot go backwards.
For a child to witness their father taken as a slave, not good.
For a child to witness their sister taken as a sex worker, not good.
For a child to witness their mother poor and scared because of their skin colour, not good.
For a child to witness their governments do little to protect the planet, not good.
For a child to witness working for a day to earn a dollar, not good.
For a child to witness waiting for a sandwich bag to be thrown in the garbage so they might eat. Not good.
For a child to witness abuse of any kind. ANY KIND. Not good.
For a child to witness pain, hunger, hatred. Not good.
I hope that when we, all of us go about our days that we can be so involved in protest that we can find a way. That we can find a way to bring an end to slavery of any kind. That we can bring an end to explotation of children. That we can find a way to help our planet breathe for the future of the children. That we can find a way to no longer remain silent about the exploitation of children in any country.
That we can spend our filthy money on the young who need. The young who are starving in refugee camps. That it can spent to rescue the young who are being trafficked.
Yup that is the 2020 in review alright.
In review to tell you of all that you must still do.
What will take up the mainstream media next? The political debates?
The forming of governments?
The brexit debacle?
The blame game of China for the pandemic?
You wanna do something about China. Stop slavery there. Stop exploitation of the children there.
Perhaps it would be better of me to provide to you some links and back up my claims with specifics. I prefer to leave you troll away the Web and find these things out for yourself. (I dare not promote such links)
Be it Syria, be it Palestine, be it China, be it Venezuela, be it Nigeria, be it Libya, be it Ghana, be it Japan, be it Russia, be it Belgium, be it France, be it United States, be it United Kingdom, be it Colombia, be it India, be it Ireland, be it Holland.
The list goes on and on.
2020 in review the year where the children get the same F U.
The virus still exists. Though it has been the 6 month long talking point. It came to us new and closed and crippled the world.
George Floyd has not died in vain. Changes are being made.
The children of the world of all races are still a mute point.
One might bring about an argument that the powers that be are so sick and twisted that they enjoy the paedophilia and so the trafficking will never end.
You wanna do some good for the remainder of this 2020. You make a difference.
Protest the use of children in the work place.
Close down the sex traffickers.
Close down the child exploitation.
Protest the harm that is continued upon refugee children.
Protest the harm that is being experienced by children.
Protest the same offices that you protest for BLM.
Protest the world head figures and their salaries and make a change to a child's life today.
These children are the doctors and nurses of the future who you will want running to work the day you get the virus.
Protest the killings and the maiming and the horrible acts.
Protest, for they do not know why or how.
Oh yeah 2020 might be half way thru. Coming out of lockdown you have a whole lot more work to do.
@TWOsonsTOOmany

Monday Motivation ~ You are worth more than you know
Writing a blog piece is not an easy event at all. Though there is a certain model I aim to stick to, sometimes I may wander a little.
Of course keeping you interested is an important piece of the whole thing.
How can this be achieved?
By sticking to the model.
1. Introduce the topic.
2. Give you my reasons for choosing the topic or opinion piece.
3. Ask you to consider the topic.
4. Repeat my own reasoning of the topic.
5. Encourage you to remain in a stage of focus on the main headline / topic.
6. Bring about some easy, understandable way in which you can see the why.
7. Wish you well and ask that you share and click some links.
That would be the simple format to follow for a blog piece.
Unfortunately it may not always be achieved. And of course, to stay on topic.
So what do you know?
How much about you do you actually know?
Interesting point to ponder for a moment.
Is it possible that you know yourself very well?
Like, in the way in how you think or even like in the way in how you feel one thing or another.
Do you really know yourself?
The subject line has been for your "Motivation" this "Monday"
I wish to motivate you in your daily life.
I wish to offer to you concepts and simple tools to bring about a powerful feeling about yourself.
I wish to offer to you a little piece of where I am coming from and I wish to show to you how many things are very possible for yourself. I refer to these things as "tools"
Somebody decided that the week must begin anew on Monday. Quite often many people drag themselves to work on a Monday. For these kinds of reasons it has become a popular hashtag to use on a Monday. Post something motivational.
Works wonders when someone finds themselves lacking in motivation and they stumble upon a post like this one.
So for me the task is, what about those who find they have no need for motivating?
The people who are operating just fine.
The people who have it all together.
I write this for all of the people, those needing motivating & those not needing motivation. There are many paths to achieving and succeeding.
Why so? I hear you ask.
Back to the subject line.
"Monday Motivation ~ You are worth more than you know".
I have asked you what is it that you know about yourself. I wish for to understand that for the entire degree by which you know yourself, your worth is greater than even that.
You may say something like, "oh yeah, big deal. I am worth a whole bunch. Big deal"
This is a big deal. This is a very big deal.
Many of us have trouble or we may even struggle with knowing ourselves.
There are many of us who are not sure why we think certain ways and there are many of us who are never quite certain why we get one feeling or another.
We never wish to run for therapy just because we have a little uncertainty in our lives about ourselves.
We may often just pass it off as a passing thought or a moment of lapse in our concentration. Again all of these are fine too.
(The bit where I tell you a little about myself)
I was once a very happy go lucky fellow and on many an occasion I have been accused of not giving a flying ****.
I have been accused of having hidden agendas and of being a selfish individual. I have been accused about a whole ton of other stuff too.
The best piece of it all has been that I have never allowed any such accusations define me.
In my own life I have endured some horrific emotional pains.
Like what? You may wonder.
The nuts and bolts of the deeper types of personal hurt and anguish have been brought about by my own loss and grieving.
The processes in which I have found myself.
What are the details of or the levels of hurt that we are talking about?
Imagine level 10 on your worst nightmares.
Imagine the pains that we all like to avoid or never wish to occur. Emotional hurt, pain and trauma.
I have encountered such stuff in my life. The degree in which I have encountered such has been so that I thought I had completely lost my mind.
I thought I would never mend or never again be sane.
What can bring me or you or any person to such a place?
Another great question.
Many of you know of my "story". Many of you cannot fully understand it though you are aware that something tragic has occurred in my life.
Not to keep you in any great amount of suspense or anything like that.
When I was 35 years young. I received a phone call to tell me that my first born son, named Darra, had died. He at that time was 3~4 weeks into his 15th year of life.
He had never been ill or anything like that. He was not involved in some horrible accident. He went to sleep on a Sunday night and he did not wake up for school the following Monday morning. It is called "Sudden adult death syndrome" SADS for short.
This type of news, this type of occurrence is something that runs you over like a freight train. The pieces of yourself become scattered into a million places.
Grief and grieving were all new to me and they began with a bang. Been going on ever since tbh.
When I was 38, some 2 and half years later, my second born son, named Patrick. He found his way to a swimming pool at 5 am on a Sunday morning and drowned. I performed mouth to mouth resuscitation on him. It did not work.
Patrick was 1 year and 4 months old at the time.
I was a grieving father at the time WHEN Patrick drowned.
Then I became a doubled up type of person. Sometimes we hear about someone being doubled over with pain. As in, they are severely bent over due to pain in their gut.
At that time I was doubled over with pain on a double level.
Darra & Patrick both gone from my life. Gone from the earth. Gone forever.
I rewrite these points today for two reasons.
1. I wish to share with you a snippet of an idea of what type of pain I have encountered.
2. I wish to share their names with you. An old, old saying went something like this "They are never dead and gone as long as someone speaks their name"
So I write about them to allow you to speak their names.
(wandering again)
With all this grief and emotional pain, traumatic experiences of losing my sons, I was faced with life.
Just like you every day. It does not ever have to be specifically a Monday.
With all the pain encountered by me in these two very unique situations, I really thought life was over for me.
I found it very hard to see something of a future.
I have learned quite an amount of good sense and wisdom in the days that have passed since.
I have also still been the same old me.
The same old me with a twist though. Now I am a person who has had to reinvent myself three or four different times in life.
I have had to scrape myself up off the floor in a spiritual way, an emotional way & in a mental way.
(can I be accused of all the same selfishness and not giving a **** as before? Absolutely)
The little differences now are that I have had to teach myself how precious life is. Of course from the experiences of losing my sons, I learned about how precious life is.
I have learned and seen life through some very clear lenses since.
I had options through out my time grieving my children.
I am very proud to share with you that I have very recently completed my 5th book. I have made improvements to my author website and I have completed a stage play script. (don't worry auditioning calls will be announced lol)
Ya see writing is something I turned to, something to help me make sense of my own life. This has resulted in two, yes 2 memoirs.
You can look them up on amazon if you would like to read more about my life. And these books will give you a clearer idea of why I know I am well qualified to write this post to you today.
TWO sons TOO many, memoir.
&
17 and Life, memoir.
Both of these are available on amazon and you can copy and paste the titles into your browser and you should find some articles about them from around the Web.
My 4th book written is a book where I wished to share some tools with anyone who may need a little boost or helping hand.
Layman's Handbook, self help book.
I shared 27 chapters of some of the simple tools I found along my own journey. I wanted to use my own experiences to shed a light for any who have found themselves in dark places.
So back to you.
You will see that from my first two memoirs how I arrived at a place where it only made sense to share some of my own findings in an easy to read book of self help, self care, self love in layman's Handbook. After all I am merely a layman in life. I wrote it for all out there who are just like me.
Through my learning in what emotional pains are. What it is like to absolutely lose one's mind and struggle to maintain sanity. I understand what many people actually go through.
I understand what it is like to convince oneself of something, anything for that matter.
I understand what it is like to run away from emotions.
I understand what it is like not to have any answers and feel like a failure.
I felt like a complete failure as a father.
I understand how the mind can play tricks on us and I understand fully what it is like to feel down, worthless or having a serious lack of motivation for life.
Oh, now we are really discussing stuff alright.
Yup the real and the raw of life and how we may feel about it.
It can be very tiring. Consumes us. We can allow other people to consume us. We can tire from simple chores. We can become frustrated with everything and everybody.
I am here writing to you today to let you know that when there seems to be nowhere left to turn. Nowhere left to search for answers. The answers lie within yourself.
Taking a little moment to realign your own day can bring about almost miraculous results.
"You are worth more than you know" .
You have inside of you the will & the ability to make your world become a winning one. You possess the ability to turn your ship around and begin to succeed in your daily life.
It does not have to be all major big stuff to start with. There does not have to be any dramatic big changes or anything major. Tiny little changes can mean the world to someone like me or you when things are dim and very down.
Inside of yourself, you have heard said over the years. You have seen with your own eyes and you have witnessed others who have crawled up & out from some very deep places and got on with it.
The strength you desire to continue and keep on batting are within you.
I have experienced it first hand inside of myself.
You too are human just like me and you possess these inside of what you already know.
Remember,
"You are worth more than you know"
You are your very own Mr. Or Mrs motivator. You have the strength.
Sometimes all you need is a little understanding (maybe even a nudge).
Yes I knew exactly why I was feeling down. I miss my sons.
For you, you do not need to have the trauma or the deaths of offspring to bring about a clear understanding that life can be made very achievable.
You can take my word for it.
There are many strategies to winning in work life. There are many strategies for winning in home life.
There are many ways in which to feel alive and well in our own lives.
If I can suffer such loss and write to you today about my books and my writing, about which I am very proud. Then you also can achieve great things.
If I can lose my two sons and find a path to write to you to encourage you to live and motivate your life.
Then so can you.
I may have had to dig a little deeper inside of myself due to the circumstances I found myself in. And you may have to dig even deeper than me.
Your life is worth so much.
You are worth more than you know.
If you would like to know more and about some of my travels around the world and adventures then please do grab a copy of either TWO sons TOO many Or 17 & Life.
If you would like to know of my project of grief then you can check out
My grief the last 3 years.
If you would like some more motivational tools and to find simple ways to begin to claw back your own motivations and confidence in becoming a massive success, then by all means grab a copy of Layman's Handbook TODAY.
Enjoy your week and get motivated this Monday to take on life and let's laugh at it together some day.
Be sure to press share wherever you find this post. Thank you.
Somebody out there needs to read this today.
Peace out.
Of course keeping you interested is an important piece of the whole thing.

Peace out.

Thursday Thoughts ~ All Lives Matter
After a small break from being here posting and tweeting and making blog posts, well it is hard to stay quiet any longer.
What issues are irking me right now?
I wanted to ask you for a little thought on this the 1st Thursday in June.
Do you know, are you aware or have you ever really considered how Black Lives Matter just as much as All Lives Matter?
The scenes of recent days, this past week have been atrocious to say the least. There is a great understanding and a clear view of why such riots and protests have been taking place. George Floyd did not have to die in the way in which he actually did.
For him and the symbol that he has now become, I ask of you to pause and think on him and all his family, extended family and friends. The entire African American community and all who have received injustices at the hands of corrupt and abusive law enforcement officers.
The issue of racism is a difficult topic for many to discuss. Some will claim not to be racist and then make a racial slur of one kind or another and then be accused of being racist. The topic is actually that sensitive.
Another will play on the subject and use the racism card when appropriate.
These couple of characteristics of the topic bring an more heightened sensitivity to the subject of racism.
Pause for racism for a moment...
I do see skin tones and am not colour blind. I see that many races of people exist in the entire world. I can recognise that there are many differences between myself and others based upon the colour of our skin. Sometimes I can see different genetic traits based upon the race of one kind or another.
I can also see that there exists differences between people based upon their cultural background.
What I cannot see is why any one race of people on our planet must be singled out.
What I cannot see is why one race of people on our planet are superior or on the other hand inferior to another.
What I cannot see is a need to bring about a divide among people based upon race.
What I cannot see is why an entire nation and a very large powerful nation at that, I cannot see why it must take millions of people to march in protest to make demands of their representatives to bring about a much needed change.
Change in policies, laws, legislation and the list keeps going.
The thought I present to you today is this:
Do you know that All Lives Matter?
Do you know that every human in the world has the basic needs and rights as humans?
Do you know that by not being considerate of others in the way in which we treat each other is an atrocity?
To clarify, I am a person who is identified as a white person. Perhaps being an Irish person makes me not a supreme white person like those who have descended more so from the British empire. They have long time been our deep rooted enemy. We Irish were the slaves to the Kings of England and their respective "cronies" for a long time in history.
Perhaps being an Irish person has kept me cocooned in a very white society for my entire upbringing. Perhaps even that we have been a suppressed nation or race of people for a very long time with an added dose of control by influence and instruction from a religion of the Catholic Church, perhaps for these reasons I found it strange not to understand what it is that is racism. I did not see the tone or colour of someone's skin as means to identify anything different about the person.
In my ignorance of not first hand ever knowing what it was like to grow up with barriers in front of me that I did not ever understand racism and what it all meant.
What I can say and I offer as a thought to ponder today.
I do understand now, because I am older now or because I lived a portion of my life in the United States or perhaps because I understand who I am today. I understand that all humans deserve equal.
An equality that affords each person the rights to be who they are.
I have sat and broke bread, befriended and shared many laughs (good belly chuckling laughs) with many different races of people.
I have been welcomed to sit and eat food with many different races of people.
I never felt any different nor did I ever consider race at the times of doing so. My own naivety or just a simple colour blindness that I possess due to who I am. Regardless the point and thought is this.
Skin tone nor cultural back ground are cause for judgment.
As a man, a "white" man. I stand with all who protest the recent weeks tragedy. I was glad to read that all 4 officers are now being charged in the George Floyd case.
We know nothing of another human being and how they have been treated their entire life.
We know nothing of how another person feels.
Repeat.
We know nothing of how another person feels.
We know nothing of how the tone of someone's skin has shaped their life.
What we do know is that we do not like to be consider inferior. We do know that we do not like when we are classed less than any other human. What we do know is that we are not superior in any way shape or form because of our skin tone.
Some people may be smarter, more clever. Faster or better at stuff, more skilled. We can be categorized for these things and there is nothing wrong with this type of categorization.
SKIN TONE
Has nothing to do with helping and living with our fellow humans.
I hope you can spare a thought for a few moments that Black Lives Matter and so does yours.
ALL LIVES MATTER.
To finish, I saw a tweet yesterday that read,
"a nation that waited months to deal with a pandemic waited only minutes to deploy forces against its own people"
This my friend's is a sad reality. A very Sad state of affairs.
If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

Monday Motivation ~ Life, Family, Love, Work, Money, Sport, Fun
When we say we "never" want to do something again, it could be anything. We might have made a mistake in our lives, we may have had a bad feeling about another person. We may have just, straight up hated our day. We might utter words, something along these lines
"I promise I will NEVER do __________ again"
It could be anything. We might have lost faith in a person, in God perhaps or we may have plain old simple forgotten something or made a mistake.
Perhaps a deflated statement that we have used somewhere along our path.
They say, "never say never" and for very good reason too.
When we promise ourselves to never do something again and then we might do said item again, we are encouraging our own self to be down or even harder on ourselves than we ever wish to be.
Hence why "they" suggest to "never say never".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are many different types of people in the entire world. There are many races of people and many different religious belief systems. To perhaps over indulge the point, there are many different classes of people too. We are all different.
We are all very unique in one little aspect of our being, each one us.
I point this out to highlight a simple factor and to keep in line with the above, we have all said and thought similar things in our lives. Perhaps we have had similar influences and these have led to us conjuring up ideas that we have felt were our own unique ideas. We may have been heavily influenced by a passing fad or the rock music of the time. Even, there exists a chance that we have even felt the same about any random things that have occurred in our lives.
We are all different!
We have had similar thoughts or feelings.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The beauty that lies within each of us, is that, it can take different reasons for each of us, our personal reasons for getting up in the morning. We can all have a similar thought or feeling towards our day and our lives. The question is to ask myself today,
What is my motivation?
What is it that makes you feel your day?
What is it that helps you think through your day?
What motivates you to take on or tackle your day?
These are some real questions and some very worthwhile questions to have buzzing around in our minds. The answer is quite possible to be different for each and every individual. There is also a high probability that we may actually be more alike than we first thought.
Our power, inside of ourselves to succeed is driven by our motivation.
To succeed is not to be confused with some "over achiever" type stuff nor to be confused with the financial successes of any person.
To succeed is a simple thing in each of our lives.
Perhaps you may have never considered that waking up and heading about your day is an absolute success.
By the same token that heading to take a shower in the morning is a massive success.
To feel alive on a Monday morning and to be ready for the day and the week ahead. These are massive successes in our lives.
To beauty of our individuality and the unique way in which we are special (yes, each and every person is special) the beauty of it is that we are often easily categorised or to keep it simple, we may fall in to one of 6 or 7 groups of people where our thoughts actually align. We may be motivated similarly.
There are many different driving forces behind us all.
Though our DNA is different, our finger prints are different, our experiences in life are different, our soul mates are different. We do have similar things in our lives that drive us forward each and every day. Again to ask the question,
What is my motivation?
In the title there are 7 different aspects of what may be our driving force.
Could it be for any one of these that we press on and make many successes in our day? Here, we can list them,
1 *Life?
2 *Family?
3 *Love?
4 *Work?
5 *Money?
6 *Sport?
7 *Fun?
Please by all means, ponder these for a moment.
The defeatest or deflated attitude as mentioned above can take on a completely different shape when we consider 1 thru 7.
Our differences as individuals are cast aside when we consider 1 thru 7.
Our uniqueness lies within how we see the driving force of 1 thru 7.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I raise the issue with you to bring about that moment of thought for the day.
A moment to ponder and find the place where our motivation fits.
Although it is not from an Internet post that we get through or accomplish our many simple successes in our day.
A post nonetheless can be that "trigger" , the "spark" to ignite the day we are going to have. The week we are going to have.
Do not be discouraged if you have lost sight a little of your motivation. I encourage you to think for a small little while about where you land between points 1 thru 7.
I encourage you for a simple reason and the reason is this; when I consider all of these points, I find myself moving into a great state of gratitude.
When I find myself in gratitude, I often begin to grin, a smile so to speak.
When I smile, I feel like something good is happening. When something good is happening, I feel successful. When I feel successful, I begin to achieve and accomplish even more of anything that crosses my path within a day.
And so, I encourage you to consider the motivational driving force that can bring you to become a determined and fearless "over achiever".
I also can totally understand what it is like to not wish to get out of bed in the morning. I can share empathy for any who have lost focus and find even the simple small things in life to be larger obstacles than ever imagined.
Again for these reasons I encourage you to consider 1 thru 7.
When I regain focus or when I realign myself with my driving force, the world makes sense again. A major route to my own content feelings. I like and enjoy and succeed when my alignment is in order. I have a huge preference for being content in my day or my week.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So simple to look at a few words in a blog post and see them listed 1 thru 7 and take a moment to pause, consider where we may be at and all of a sudden any deflated attitudes can slip off into the abyss.
Happy Monday to you all are my wishes for you today.
Take joy in even your smallest success and remind yourself every so often of your own driving forces.
We may actually find that our similarities are very much NOT like our finger prints. We are actually all capable of understanding each other in so many more ways that it is hard to believe how alike we all are, yet so different.
Thank you for reading, as always I ask that you share or retweet my blog post for Monday Motivation.
It is by your sharing that I may reach others and there are times we might not know who needs to read this today. For this I ask of you to share and share again. Help me to help those who could use that gentle boost in their day.
