Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Love & Gelato - Charming Young Adult Romance.
Love & Gelato is a charming young adult romance novel set in Florence, Italy. After her mom dies of cancer, sixteen-year-old Lina, is sent to Italy to stay with the father she never knew. If that isn't bad enough, her father, Howard, lives in a cemetery where he works as a caretaker. When Lina first meets Howard she can't believe that he's her dad as he looks nothing like her. Her mother's life in Italy before Lina was born is a mystery that she slowly begins to unravel with the help of her mother's journal and a handsome Italian teenager named Lorenzo. The reader is taken on a magnificent journey through Florence and Rome as seen through the eyes of a teenager who desperately misses her mom but finds healing along the way. Love & Gelato is about love, friendship, family, and renewal set against a beautiful backdrop with very real and likable characters. Even though this is a young adult romance, the themes could just as easily apply to people of any age. If you like sweet wholesome fiction with interesting characters in idyllic settings, I would also recommend books by Jenny Colgan.

How To Find Love in a Bookshop - Charming tale of new beginnings.
How To Find Love in a Bookshop is a charming tale of new beginnings. After the death of her father, Emilia Nightingale inherits his bookshop in the quaint English town where she was born and raised. The idea of running the shop without her father is daunting, but Emilia enlists the help of friends, old and new, to give the bookstore a face lift. The store brings renewal to Emilia and to the customers who frequent it. Jackson, a divorced father, finds new books to read to his young son as he attempts to reunite with his ex-wife. Thomasina, a cooking teacher, meets Jem, the cheese shop owner there, and forges a promising new relationship. Bea, a reluctant stay-at-home mom, puts her skills as an interior designer to work by helping redesign the store. And Emilia finds love with a musician friend of her father's. How To Find Love in a Bookshop is a sweet, heartwarming tale of love, friendship, and renewal. If you enjoy books about books like I do, I would highly recommend this one. I would also recommend The Bookshop on the Corner, The Little Paris Bookshop, and The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend.

Titans by Leila Meacham

Titans - Family drama and historical fiction in one.
Titans is a family drama/historical fiction novel set in Texas in the early 1900s.  At the heart of the story are Samantha and Nathan, twins who were separated at birth. Samantha resides with her adoptive parents who run a large cattle ranch, while Nathan lives with his mother and stepfather on their farm. They know nothing of each other or their true parentage until their worlds collide by happenstance. In the year 1900 oil was being discovered in Texas, and many people were anxious to cash in on the finds. Samantha, who helps her parents run their ranch, is resistant to drilling on their lands. She has a strong interest in paleontology and would rather be digging for dinosaur bones. Through a series of interesting and heart wrenching events, Nathan begins working for an oil company when he crosses paths with the sister he never knew he had. Titans is a long detailed saga that includes themes of love, friendship, family, and betrayal. Historical elements are scattered throughout giving the reader some insight into Texas history and the country at large. There are several twists and turns in the book that keep the reader engaged, although at times you may feel like the story will never end. If you like sprawling historical and family fiction, you may enjoy Titans. For more historical fiction recommendations, click here.

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

Behind Closed Doors - Engaging psychological thriller!
Behind Closed Doors is a terrifying tale of a marriage gone horribly wrong.  When Grace first meets Jack she's taken in by his good looks, intelligence, and charming personality.  Responsible for her mentally impaired younger sister, Grace never thought she'd find a man who would accept her and Millie into his life. Jack not only accepts Millie, he offers to have her move in with him and Grace after they're married. Grace can't believe her good fortune, but everything changes when Jack takes her to Thailand for their honeymoon. Instead of a romantic getaway, the trip quickly becomes terror-filled for Grace, as Jack keeps her locked in their hotel room while he disappears for hours at a time. When he finally reveals his true intentions toward her and Millie, Grace immediately begins plotting her escape, but Jack is always one step ahead of her. Soon she fears for her life and Millie's too, and she becomes subservient in an attempt to save her sister from harm. A prisoner in her own home, Grace has limited contact with the outside world, although occasionally she's forced to host lavish parties to keep up appearances with Jack's friends.  Esther, a newcomer to the group, becomes suspicious and a powerful ally to Grace who is determined to escape her evil husband. Behind Closed Doors is a page-turner in the vein of Gone Girl and  The Girl on the Train . If you like psychological thrillers that keep you guessing, I would highly recommend this book.  Note: due to the nature of the story, readers may find some aspects disturbing.

Lost and Found Sisters by Jill Shalvis

Lost and Found Sisters - Sweet story of new beginnings.
Lost and Found Sisters is a women's fiction novel that tells the story of Quinn Weller, a chef in L.A. who suddenly discovers that she's not who she thinks she is.  Quinn upends her life to move to a small town in California where she meets the sister she never knew she had.  She also meets Mick, a handsome businessman who soon becomes an important part of her life.  Quinn doesn't expect to stay in Wildstone for long, but she finds that she feels more at home there than she did in L.A.  Besides her sister and Mick, she's embraced by other quirky members of the community, and suddenly she can't imagine living anywhere else.  I have read several of Jill Shalvis's contemporary romance novels, and this one was a slight departure.  The focus is on Quinn starting a new life, and the romance with Mick is secondary although still sweet and sexy.  I enjoyed the story and the characters and was engaged from beginning to end.  If you enjoy women's fiction with a touch of humor and romance, you may like Lost and Found Sisters.  If you haven't read anything by Shalvis, this would be a good place to start.  I would also recommend her Lucky Harbor series, which still ranks as one of my favorite romance series. Overall, I found this to be a very satisfying read.

Me & You Plus Two - New contemporary romance coming soon!
Me & You Plus Two, my seventh contemporary romance novel will be released soon. Here's a synopsis and stay tuned for further details!

Rachel Thompson and Ben Brady were high school sweethearts who thought they’d be together forever, but they broke up after going off to rival colleges.  Now, almost twenty years later, Rachel is a teacher and a divorced mother of seven-year-old, Abby.  She hardly has time to reminisce about her high school love, but that all changes in a blink of an eye.

Ben is a divorced father of seven-year-old Noah, and they recently moved into the Clarkston school district where Rachel teaches second grade.  When Ben and Noah walk into Rachel’s classroom for the first time, her world turns upside down.

As Rachel and Ben forge a new relationship, they must navigate around their exes and Noah’s objections to their friendship.  Even if Noah comes around, will Rachel get past the hurt Ben caused her all those years ago?  Life was much simpler when it was just the two of them, but what will happen now that it’s…Me & You Plus Two!
