Se riusciste a capire questo, voi che possedete le cose che il popolo deve avere, potreste salvarvi. Se riusciste a separare le cause dagli effetti, se riusciste a capire che Paine, Marx, Jefferson e Lenin erano effetti, non cause, potreste sopravvivere. Ma questo non potete capirlo. Perché il fatto di possedere vi congela per sempre in “io”, e vi separa per sempre dal “noi”.
