New Blog Coverage
I'm on the thatcovergirl blog today, or at least the cover of Nickel Plated is. Fun article, and it gives some credit to the awesome folks that made the Nickel Plated cover so kick butt.

Laptop Battery Life Dot Com
Hey lap top battery life dot com, FUCK YOU. I'm not sure if any of you assholes know anyone who has been involved in the conflict overseas in any capacity, but having your spammers attempt to post crap on here, and I'm sure any blog that mentioned the death of Bin Laden, is just as low as it gets.
Modern day carpet bagging, nothing more, nothing less.

You might have heard about this…
So DEVGRU (Navy Seal Team Six) killed Osama Bin Laden, and I say hats off, boys. As much issue as I've had with our overseas exploits over the past few years-trust me, working in a tattoo shop when there's a war on is a rough job, unless you like to cry-this is a wonderful thing. I'm hoping against hope that the whole thing can be taken at face value, and I feel confident that it can be.
I don't speak for anyone but myself, but if there was ever a time to reminisce about September 11th, 2001, today is the day. Some of our bad dudes, hard men who who walk into danger so that we can sleep in warm beds, did the world a solid yesterday.
As my good friend Tracy Heath, a former Army Ranger, has said on more than one occasion, if you meet a vetted/enlisted man or woman, just tell them thank you, and make damn sure you mean it.

New short story idea.
I started a new short story today, kind of along the vein of Nickel Plated, but with an adult detective. I'm having fun with it, and though I'm sure it will be a long time until it ever sees the light of day, if it ever does, it's still a pretty nice time. I think once its done it will be back to editing one longer piece and writing another.
Also, UFC on tonight, should be fun.

Work is destroying me.
And not writing, writing is just fine.
I've kind of hit a wall with piercing. This has happened before, and I've always bounced back ok, but this time feels different. I'm not sure that this is a passion is gone kind of thing, my passion for modification has been long dead, but I've always enjoyed being a gatekeeper for others entering a world of being poked full of holes.
That bit of passion, may just be eking out of me.
Part of it's a money thing, I've been at this for a month shy of fifteen years, and money is still an issue. That's stupid. Like really stupid.
The big part though is the reward factor. The stupidity of some of my customers, the perverseness of others, it can all just be a bit much.
I'm kind of at an impasse. What does a published author with no college, who is covered in tattoos do for work?
Ugh.

Game of Thrones, rambling
Man, am I bad at updating this thing. I watched Game of Thrones the other afternoon, and it was just as amazing as the books led me to believe it could be. I was really worried that HBO wasn't going to able to stand up to the quality of the writing, but so far, they're doing a stellar job. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, but it was pleasant to watch one of the few fantasy series I actually care about not get fumbled.
I've been doing some work on my current long fiction project, as well as editing my last long fiction project. I'm not sure which one is more relevant at this point, so I think the goal is just to keep writing, keep editing, and hope that one of these sticks.

A sequel?!?!?
One question, or suggestion, or comment, that has popped up more than any other in the reviews of Nickel Plated, has been folks mentioning a series, or sequel. I really appreciate the efforts of anyone who has been nice enough to write a review or blog about my blog about my work, and I love that you enjoyed Nickel enough to wonder as to his future endeavors.
Last summer, when Nickel Plated was going through the editorial process, I decided it was high time that I get back on the writing wagon. The second Nickel book was at that time just a twenty page teaser, I'd put the project aside to concentrate on trying to sell Nickel Plated. Not to mention, an unsold novel really doesn't need a sequel. Nickel Plated being picked up changed things.
It took about five seconds to dive back into my imaginary friends devious little head, and once I was there it was like a glass of cold water on a hot day. The writing came easy, and early last fall, the sequel to Nickel Plated was finished.
As for publication, I have no clue. I'd love for AmazonEncore to put the sequel out, and I hope I get to work with every single person that helped to make Nickel Plated be everything that it was. At this point it's just a time thing, but to ease anyone who was wondering, yes, there is a sequel, and the edit before the REAL edits get going is finished. I wish I could say more, but unfortunately, we're all going to have to wait a little while for Nickel to ride again.

I was on the TV this morning!
My publicist, Sarah Burningham of Little Bird Publicity, was able to set up a brief interview about Nickel Plated on local television station Fox 17 this morning, and it went pretty darn well. Good news for those of you unlucky enough to have missed it live, I'm hoping to have a direct link to it in the next day or two. For now, you can find an indirect link to Fox 17 videos below. Thanks Fox 17, and Schuler Book's!

Ugh.
My daughter finally seems to be doing better after her tonsillectomy, and now I feel like crap. I hate being sick, hopefully this blows over quickly.
This is a pretty terrible update compared to my last few, I'm sure things will be back to normal soon.

Incredible new review of Nickel Plated!
And you should run right on over to my Amazon page to see it! The review is by Gillian Flynn, an immensely talented woman who has written two absolutely fantastic novels, "Sharp Objects" and "Dark Places". If you haven't read them, and enjoy dark, creative, fiction, you're missing out big time, so go read them!
Thank you Ms. Flynn, I'm a huge fan and it's an absolute honor to have you read and review my work.
