Cover update

The cover art for "A Good and Useful Hurt" has been finished. Unsurprisingly, Amazon, my editor Terry, and the person who designed the cover all did a wonderful job, and I'm very pleased with the outcome. I'd love to show you it, but that will have to wait a little longer.

On a whole other topic entirely, I'm hard at work on two more pieces of long fiction, ideally both will be complete by the middle of winter. More likely, one will be done, but it would be nice to pick between two to submit, and have one in the bank for later. Fun stuff.

Two things…

1. Nickel Plated is on sale for .99 cents on Kindle this week. Obviously that five buck savings means you should buy a Kindle and Nickel Plated. Seriously, Kindles are great.

2. My next book is going to be published by Amazon next year. It is called, "A Good and Useful Hurt". More details to come soon.

I want to go coasting!!

Really, really badly. Possible road trip soon could be Indiana Beach, Holiday World, and then possibly King's Island, Cedar Point, or both.

It's only been a few months, but I really want to get out and go. The part I'm struggling with, is whether or not it would make more sense to wait until August. Of course, if I wait then I have to wait, and like I said, I want to go coasting.

Next blog post will have the conclusion of the super awesome news cliffhanger…

Super Awesome News!!

So I'm going to keep most of this on the down low, at least for a little while. That little button up there that says works?

She's expecting.

I totally fixed my air conditioner.

My incredibly ghetto fabulous A/C unit broke right at the start of the heatwave, and I decided yet again that I could fix it all by myself. A few google query's later and I decided that the motor was broken.

We ordered a new one, it came in yesterday, and after figuring out some hardware issues-the lid of my air conditioner is homemade-managed to rig it all up. It works great and my home is no longer a living hell.

I'm going to post about BEA, I swear!

I really am, just not yet. I expect that to be a rambling, disjointed, actually have to edit it sort of piece, so for the time being, a few short updates.

I miss New York. A lot.

I thought it would be cool, but it was honestly more than that, I really felt a sense of belonging there that I usually don't get around strangers. Not a single person was rude about my appearance the entire trip. Not one.

LA Noire is a great, great game, it is cutting into writing time. and I don't care. I'm a detective, this is important work.

Amazon Publishing is an epic force, and the best part is, not a single asshole on the team. The whole trip I kept waiting for someone to be a dick or stand offish or something, but no dice. They were all just incredibly fun, caring people.

There was one author who got away with a bit of bad form, perhaps I'll discuss this further in my actual BEA post…

BEA on Monday!

Well I leave for New York perilously early Morning, and I cannot wait! I will be at Fordham University at 3:00 Monday afternoon to do a Nickel Plated signing, will be attending the Amazon party that evening, and will be at BEA most of Tuesday. My Tuesday plans involve lurking around the Amazon booth, stalking authors I want to meet, and just generally being overwhelmed. I'm hoping my appearance is not too over the top for the environment.

ATTN Evildoers: Yes, I just posted that I'm going to be out of town on the internet, and this is considered bad form. However, breaking into my house to steal all of my rad stuff might not be the best idea. I have a couple of retired neighbors that don't sleep, and they're both very heavily armed. So, y'know, keep that in mind. That said, all of my rifles are in the basement with my good TV. I'd start there.

Smoked a cigar yesterday.

A Flying Pig, from Drew Estate, and it was delicious. I knew it would be, because I've had one before, but this was a special one.

Not a special blend or limited edition mind you, yet special nonetheless. Up until yesterday, I had two of these cigars, as well as plans to smoke them with a good friend of mine. Now I have one left, and that good friend has been relegated more to the status of someone I felt like I knew but really didn't. In short, if you're reading this, and think this person might be you, I smoked your cigar, it was delicious, and I'm glad I didn't waste it on you. See you around, I guess.
