Cereal Killer

I have been contracted for a serial novel with Thomas and Mercer, and it will be out at some point in the spring. I doubt this will be the lynchpin that sees someone buy a Kindle, but if you’re considering one, just do it. They rule.

I’ve been sick/I’ve been writing/I’m not sick of writing/Dead Man

I’ve been just sick enough for the past few days to make my lovely wife and charming daughter distrust me whenever I move a muscle, I can hear their thoughts, ‘Is he going to touch that? Ugh. He did.’ As the primary food preparer in our house this has been a hard week. For the first time, in, well, ever, my ladies want me out of the kitchen. I hate it. I also want a beer, but I digress.

Two exciting book related things, The Fort went live on Amazon today, and I finished a new manuscript. The piece I just finished-more crime, yay-came out really well, at least for a first draft. It is written as a follow up to The Fort, so we’ll see what my beloved firsties think.

For the first time, ever, I finished a novel free of burnout, and I did it while sick. This is either a good sign, or a really bad one. That said, it feels good, my muse is still furious and screaming, and if she doesn’t want blood, her guitar is out of tune.

Dead Man #14 is out next week and I helped write it. Give it a look on your Kindle!!

Things on the horizon, both near and far.

1. I will be at Bouchercon in just over a week doing a panel about unusual characters on Thursday, October 4th at 12:15 PM, along with Thomas Perry, Kelly Cochran, Karen Olson, Alice Loweecey, and Tammy Kaehler, moderated by Helen Knode. If you’re going to be there, come say hi!

2. My entry in the Dead Man series, The Black Death, is out October 30th via 47 North. If you’re interested, you can check out my take on Mat Cahill’s continued adventures and battle with evil.

3. Rough Men is coming out on January 22nd, via Thomas and Mercer, and I have advance copies! First two people to respond to this post, or hit me up via email, are welcome to have one.

4. The ink is dry-barely-on my follow up to Rough Men, and it’s called The Fort. It should be out next summer, and as excited as I am about Rough Men, The Fort is probably the best thing I’ve ever written. Time will tell, I suppose.

5. I’m writing again, we’ll see what happens…

Bouchercon.

Feel like I missed a D, but whatever. I will be at B-con in Cleveland in October, and I will totally hang with you and have massive good times. Greg is going too, so we can flip coins for the DD. In any case, if you want a book signed, want to tell me I suck, or just want to bump knuckles and say, “bold flavors,” I’m down.

Short update

Sorry it’s been so long since my last update. I’ve been working on editing Rough Men, due out in January, on a book for Lee Goldberg and William Rabkin’s Dead Man series, called “The Black Death” releasing in October, as well as on a new novel, tentatively called, “The Fort.” So even though I haven’t been on here, I really have been writing a ton, I promise.

Date to be finalized…

But there’s a rumbling on the horizon, and my new book, “Rough Men” will be out via Thomas and Mercer on a yet to be announced date in February. Woo-hoo! I can’t wait to share this story with you guys, it’s a dark one.

I am going to be riding roller coasters on June 10th at Michigan's Adventure to raise money for an organization that helps kids with life threatening illnesses visit theme parks like Disney World. Nickel News!

No, no sequel coming, at least not yet, I'm spending my writing time on a nasty little pot boiler that I hope to share with you soon. That doesn't mean that I can't tell you a little bit about my imaginary friend. Nickel, in his debut novel, "Nickel Plated" was featured on Amazon UK as a deal of the day for Kindle readers yesterday, and topped out at #2 in purchased downloads! This is so amazing, thanks to all my readers, UK and stateside, and I hope to meet up with you guys across the pond in the motherland someday soon.

To listen, just click below. C'mon, you know you're bored at work, and if you've read the book, this gives some really cool insight. Check it out!
