Hockey tonight.
I really, truly hate Tuesdays right now. Hockey again, at 9:40. Last week we only had five guys. This season needs to end.
Wrote a couple pages of the third Nickel book today. I'm having a really hard time writing long fiction right now, I'm pretty sure it's a combination of Nickel Plated being out so soon, and the miserable weather. In any case, vivid near nightmares almost every night. I think some of the bad guys in my head are getting bored.
That sounds crazy, but I think it might have some validity.

Blog Tour
So, I've been working on a series of different types of writing for a blog tour, that my publicist, Sarah Burningham, of Little Bird Publicity, set up for me. I wasn't sure how it was going to be at first, but I had an absolute riot writing this stuff. Anybody else out there who wants a guest blogger for a day, wants to do an interview or whatever other crazy crap you've got going, let me know on here or contact Sarah.
I will have info on what awesome blogs I will be on as soon as I get permission to do so.

Galley Delivery
I brought some of the Nickel Plated galleys, along with boxes of chocolate from Sweetland's Candies, to a few local book stores yesterday.
Everything went pretty well, but with a solid vibe of apprehension, to be clear, I'm not sure anyone believed I was really a published author. Not their fault I suppose, I certainly don't look "authory", but it was a little disappointing. I just hope my galleys make it into employee hands instead of the garbage bin. I know the candy will get to the break room.

Galleys!
Today a box of books showed up at my house, the preview edition of Nickel Plated!
I can't believe this is really happening, just another crazy moment in the publishing process. Now, to decide who to give these too, I'm going to keep five, I think.

An old story.
I was going through some of my old short stories a couple of days ago, and found one that I had almost forgotten about. I'm pretty stoked to be working on it, and I think after a nice polish I might see if I can't use my new street cred (chuckle) to land myself a spot in a small monthly. It's worth a shot, and I really think this one, "The Ride", is one of the better small pieces I've written.

Hockey was…
rough tonight. Apparently a large chunk of my team chose to attend the Kid Rock concert rather than attend an adult sporting event. We ended up lining up six vs.thirteen.
I made some nice saves, including one that would be lame to describe but would be really cool if there was video. There is no video.
No writing again for Tuesday, and no hurting anyone either. I got interviewed about Nickel Plated though. It's been a while, and the first time ever about writing, cool stuff.

A day in the life of an occasional writer.
Got a few emails today from my publicist, Sarah Burningham, of Little Bird Publicity.
Good news again! I have been offered two interview opportuinties for this week, and I'm stoked about both of them. I swear that literally every time I open my inbox and see an email from Sarah, she has good news for me. Today, though no writing took place, was a very good day in the life of this writer.

Ten coasters I want to-realistically-ride this year
I love roller coasters, and occasionally I get to write about them at the the coastercritic.com. It is an awesome site, and if you enjoy theme parks in the slightest, it is worth a look. In any case, here is a list of the ten coasters I could/will realistically ride this year.
10. Sheikra. A Busch Gardens Tampa favorite, and a B&M ride type I've never gotten on. Assuming it's running, I will ride this in March.
9. Rip Ride Rocket at Universal Studios, Florida. Again, I'll be there in March, so if it's open, I will ride. I've heard it's a letdown, but I don't care yet. I want to decide on my own, and I know the first drop will be awesome, even if the rest of the ride isn't.
8. The Hulk at Universal Studios, Adventure Island, Florida. Only B&M with a launch? Yes please.
7. Volcano at King's Dominion. I am extremely unlikely to hit Virginia this year, but along with a few other rides, this sucker would be worth the road trip on it's own. I know that I will love this coaster, no question about it.
6. El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure. Definitely one of the best wooden coasters currently running, if not the best ever. Intamin does not mess around with steel, and I'd love to ride this woodie. Jersey Shore and a thirteen hour drive make me unlikely to wander to this lovely oasis in the swamp.
5. Bizzarro at Six Flags New England. It's supposed to be one of-or the-best coasters in the world. It's an Intamin hyper-coaster, and that's enough said right there.
4. Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa. Regarded as one of the best inverted coasters anywhere, I will hopefully ride this on the March trip. Can it beat Raptor, Batman and Great Bear? Everyone else seems to think so.
3. Manta at Sea World Orlando. The last time I was there, they were building this sucker, had I ridden it then, it would have been my first B&M flying coaster. Having ridden Superman at Great America since then, I know I will love this one.
2. Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa. Joel, The Coaster Critic, lists this as his favorite coaster of all time. That alone makes me know I will love the worlds first sit down B&M.
1. Intimidator 305 at King's Dominion. This has been the most interesting new coaster in America since the day it was announced. You bet I want a ride, especially after this off seasons re-tracking. All I have to do now is find a book store that wants a tattooed author to come hang out in Virginia.
Just a regular old day.
Go to work, plan to write.
Write a little.
Hurt someone.
Ease back onto the laptop by wasting time on bloodyelbow.com.
Get ready to write.
Have to hurt someone.
Back to the laptop and break area.
Ready to write…time to hurt someone.
I did ten piercings yesterday, highlights being two terrified young women who both left the studio peachy-keen because navel piercings aren't that bad, did a PA (don't google this) on a man who drove hours on really bad roads to see me, and finally, pierced the ears of a six year old girl with co-worker Amanda.
No good writing took place. It was still a good day for writing. I can now write about a young woman who is scared, a man who is beyond stoked about getting hurt, and a little girl who refused to be afraid of impending discomfort. These people can be heroes, or they can be villains, but whatever they end up being, they will be real, because I hurt them, and they thanked me for it.
