Sparkling frost warmed by the sun

My love is not of the springtime

Blossoms, nesting birds and new born lambs

Rising sap and sprouting leaf

Nor  is it the love  of summertime

Bursting buds, showy flowers, perfumed air

Hot wind, heating the skin

It is not the love of  autumn

Falling leaves, rain and cold wind

Hot and cold alternately

My love is of the winter

Sharp sparkling frost warmed by the rays of the gentle sun

Cold outside but inner warmth sitting by the cracking flames

Heady lust  has settled

Looking for new pastures has waned

Now the warmth of friendship, the bond of trust

Shared dreams, laced with humour.

Dressing up kit 1970’s style

Shoes, ugly black clumpy laceups

Looking like the shoes boxes

Leather, shiney with a slight squeak when I walked

I had to buy them

Hospital issue, I paid they supplied

How I hated those shoes

Their only saving grace

The first step in my new career

It was all about the right image

Skirt measured six inches from the floor

Height of hat

Belt colour demonstrating status

Flat black shiney shoes Thick black stockings

The starched apron, worn when working

Removed for meals

Collarless Grey cotton dress, white piped sleeves

Three dresses to last the week

7 stiff white starched collars 6 collar studs

12 pearl buttons with metal fasteners

7 starched white aprons

3 white starched cotton shapes

To be folded into hats

One pair of sturdy black shoes

The nurse kit

The first day I wore it I  was so excited

On the threshold of being Nurse

Ok Student my black clad foot

was on the ladder

I added the upside down watch

A pen in my pocket, hair neat and tidy

I stepoed from girl to nurse as I walked

into the classroom to meet my peers

The navy blue clad tutor with the wide

frilly starched hat

Read us the rules

Then she inspected us, looking

at our attempts to look the part

Most of us were in trouble hats too

big, hair untidy, shoes tied incorrectly

little misdemeanors demonstrating our

unsuitability to make the grade.

My misdemeanor those shoes

Laced incorrectly

I hated those shoes

Rules and responsibilities

Disipline a corner stone of our training

When I qualifyed as a staff nurse

and the rules relaxed they were

discarded. New black shoes for the

modern nurse.

Youthfulness v age or Ode to the Older woman

In your teens you were shy

No self confidence, didn’t pull the guys

Body language, tended to say, dont talk, go away

In your thirties feeling better

career confidence, go getter

still  self conscious but trying harder

Body language more blaise

 come talk, I might stay

In your forties, life full on

career rocketing, running the baton

social life on the rise, push on to reach the prize

lack of self confidence a hidden drawback

developing hobbies, life more astonishing

body language  becoming open

come talk and smile with me

In your fifties, wanting a change

career pressures become a pain

realising the need to nurture  the self

Grow, develop, new ways to happiness

body language confident open

master of experiences, come spark with me

In your sixties self fulfilled,

feeling youthful,  life chilled

you seem to have matured like fine wine

 feeling more attractive more aligned

body language all inclusive,

jumping fences, come fly with me.

Age today, is only a number

Youthfulness is a  lifestyle choice

Listen to your bodies song,

because you are truly awesome.

Misty Dawn

Misty Dawn

Two souls dancing an aerial ballet

in the calm dappled light of misty dawn

flying and zooming without interplay

two souls dancing an aerial ballet

saying a farewell they can’t delay

as the zephyr breeze  plays a carillon

two souls dancing an aerial ballet

In the calm dappled light of the misty dawn

In the calm dappled light of a misty dawn

floating like balloons higher and higher

moving together feeling woebegone

in the calm dappled light of a misty dawn

life has changed, the storms have gone

we are changing direction no more misfire

i the calm dappled light of the misty dawn

floating like balloons higher and higher

Floating apart as our balloons fly  higher

in the cool dappled light of a misty dawn

leaving below loves funeral  pyre

floating apart as our  balloons fly higher

happiness and regret,we no longer desire

new skies to fly, new places to belong

floating apart as our balloons fly higher

in the cool dappled light of a misty dawn

Love songs and Novels

Listening to the love songs

reading the books

love should be out there, can’t be overlooked

take my breath away

love at first sight

I need to see the light

Looked around the corners, under the seats

In my life, that sort of love, seems to have me beat

Had the sparks and the flashes

But not the full thunderstorm

Are all those songs and novels, so far from the norm?

Is companionship and friendship

A more sustainable refrain

Am I searching for unicorns

pots of gold, bubbles in champagne?

contendnesses and happiness are with me

yet, still I am searching for the holy grail

Confused by reality, it seems a very cold trail

Is my love with me

But my mind doesn’t see?

I am confused, who can help me?

Lay your head on my heart

Lay your head on my heart

Feel the beats stop and start

Our mind pictures blending

the feelings we are tending

feel the warmth of my skin

it must be win win

Reach out to me

Feel the beats stop and start

describe your feelings

in this time we are stealing

a time free to care

we have little to spare

Lay your head on my heart

Examine joys from the coffer

take the key

unlock possibilities

Lay your head on my heart

Feel the beats stop and start

Key of Destiny

Ornate key with topaz stud  you seem part of my destiny

I am dreaming, what do represent you are all mystery

Solid, cold and beautiful you are a work of art

I cannot remember where you came from. Or why

I am dreaming?  What do you represent you are all mystery

Do you represent the past, the future or foretell misery

I cannot remember where you came from.  Or why

You are so important, I assess you searching for clues

Do you represent the past, the future or foretell misery

Are you the tool to unlock my tangled life, a mark of divinity

You are so important, I assess you searching for clues

Where can I seek the answers that I need are they within

Are you the tool to unlock my tangled life,  a mark of divinity

Solid cold and beautiful you are a work of art

Where can I seek the answers thst I need are they within

Ornate key with topaz stud  are you part of my psyche?

Shivering Colours

Shivering colours of exotic hue

Weave their way, round me and you

Toffee brown eyes, glint and spark

Vermillion, pink and honeyed dark

Weave their way round me and you

Intertwined hair black and bamboo

Vermillion, pink and honeyed dark

Aura’s radiating the colours of the heart

Intertwined hair blonde and bamboo

Beautiful colours shouldn’t be taboo

Aura’s radiating the colour of the heart

Changes as we move apart

Beautiful colours shouldn’t be taboo

The palette of colour that we view

Changes as we move and part

Each colour shows affection’s mark

The palette of colour that we view

Depends my lover on me and you

Swirl the brush get innovations spark

Shivering in exotic hue

Wriien in the Pantoum form.

Life has moved on updated

Here is the first version of this Pantoun I have since reworked        it please see the second version any thoughts if either works?

I flutter and fly like a trapped butterfly

Commitment I promised it wasn’t a lie

While life has moved your love I  still crave

It applies throughout life into the grave

Commitment, I promised it wasn’t a lie

I tried to stay true but you said goodbye

It applies throughout life into the grave

Once word is given it shouldn’t enslave

I stayed true but you said goodbye

Needs, change the picture I understand why

Once word is given, it should not enslave

We should try to honour it  be strong and brave

Needs change the picture I understand why

You need to move on although I shall cry

Though we should try to honour it, be strong and brave

Throw out  commitment, morality waive

You need to move on although I shall cry

I will find a way, to fly in the sky

Throw out commitment morality waive

I keep my values my sanity to save

I will find a way to fly in the sky

While life has moved your love I still crave

I keep my values my sanity to save

I flutter and fly like a trapped butterfly.

Written in the form Pantoum .

Version 2.

I flutter and fly like a trapped butterfly

The commitment you  promised was a big lie

Now you have gone your love I  still crave

It will probably stay till I go to my grave

The commitment, you promised was a big lie

I wanted to stay true but you said goodbye

It will probably stay till I go to my grave

Although a love once given, shouldn’t be betrayed

I wanted to stay true but you said goodbye

You changed the picture I don’t understand why

Although a love once given, shouldn’t be betrayed

We should try to honour it  be strong and brave

You changed the picture I don’t understand why

You left with such bitterness it’s hard to justify

Though we should try to honour it, be strong and brave

There comes a time with sadness our feelings to waive

You left with such bitterness it’s hard to justify

I need to rebuild my life and just quantify

There comes a time with sadness our feelings to waive

The old life with you has nothing to save

I need to rebuild my life and just quantify

Now you have gone your love I still crave

But the old life with you has nothing to save

I flutter and fly like a freed butterfly

.

The Prize

Ok am on a roll second Pantoum today. This is an unrhymed version.

The Pantoum is a Malaysian verse form used by Victor Hugo amongst others.

The Prize

Ornate key with topaz stud are you part of my destiny

Am I dreaming, why am I holding you in my hand

Solid, cold and beautiful you are a work of art

I cannot remember where you came from but you are here

Am I dreaming or am I really holding you in my hand

Do you represent the past, the future or a prize

I cannot remember where you came from but you are here

I turn you assessing every curve searching for clues

Do you represent the past, the future or a prize

Are you the tool to unlock my tangled life

I turn you assessing every curve searching for clues

Realising that happiness and peace would be a prize

Are you the tool to unlock my tangled life

Solid cold and beautiful you are a work of art

Realising that happiness and peace would be a prize

Ornate key with topaz stud are you part of my destiny
