How to get kids to clean their rooms Tip 5

How to get kids to clean their rooms Tip 5 The Underground Toy Society

Having a hard time motivating kids to clean their rooms? Are there way too many toys in your home like mine? It was too late for me to get my kids to donate their toys. They didn't want to donate anything! So instead of constantly yelling at them to clean up, I told my kids that if they didn't clean up, The Underground Toy Society would come and rescue the toys they were not cleaning up. I'd walk over to a toy, pick it up and say, “Awe, poor toy! You're not being taken care of properly! You'll have to go to The Underground Toy Society for help!” Then, I'd put the toy back on the floor and walk away. If my kids still did not pick up their toys, the toys would quietly leave during the night. If the kids asked where the toys went, well, they went to find help at The Underground Toy Society.

After removing toys, it's up to you if you want to allow the toys to return if kids are cleaning up better, or if it's time to donate the toys. If the kids don't seem to remember which toys are missing, then it's time to donate. If they miss the toys, you might have to let them return once your kids start cleaning up better. If your house is like mine, there will be some toys that your kids won't even notice are missing because there are so many toys! So don't stress over it. If you donate the toys, your kids will soon realize that they'd better clean up before their toys leave to go to The Underground Toy Society for help!

The Underground Toy Society children's books can be a fun way to talk to your kids about keeping their rooms clean to keep their toys happy, as well as instilling a sense of giving to others who may be less fortunate.

How to get kids to clean their rooms Tip 4

Get kids cleaning their rooms Tip 4

Tired of screaming at your kids to clean their rooms? Try the floor monster! Mommy/parent calls the floor monster on her pretend phone and then she turns into floor monster! When she sees toys on the floor, she runs over to gobble the toys up. Floor monster must move slowly because the trick is to roar and pretend to want to eat the toys, but your kids must save the toys before floor monster gobbles them up! It's fun for kids and works quite well in motivating kids to clean up their toys so their toys won't get eaten by floor monster! The secret is that floor monster never actually makes it in time to gobble up a toy because kids move much faster. If floor monster does happen to get a toy, hide it somewhere and tell the kids they must do a better job so that toy can return. I never had to do that though because my kids moved too fast before floor monster gobbled up their toys! Floor monster only eats toys from the floor, so if kids clean them up, the toys won't be at risk of being gobbled up!

Let us know if floor monster worked in your house!

How to get kids to clean their rooms Tip 3

Do your kids want more toys, but you have no room? Once upon a time, my kids were born into a large family. It was so wonderful of family member to think of my kids and give them so many gifts. The problem was, my kids kept wanting more and more gifts, yet wouldn't clean up the toys that they had. I often had to yell at my kids to get them to clean their rooms. When I would ask them to donate their toys, the answer was a big “NO” because they loved all of their toys so much.

Get kids cleaning their rooms Tip 3:

Get kids cleaning their rooms Tip 3

During the holidays, if your kids are receiving more gifts than can possibly fit into your home, consider setting some aside. See which gifts your kids may not need or ones that your kids may already have more than one. Hide those gifts and save them. Possibilities could be that you give those gifts to your kids when they get older, but this only works for small children who would not remember what gifts they received in the past. You could also donate some of the gifts to toy donation bins during the holidays. I used to hide brand new toys in suitcases in my closet. It worked very well and saved me some money in the long run because I had fewer gifts to buy the next years. Then, when you ask your kids to clean up their rooms, there will be less stuff to clean!

The Underground Toy Society children's books can also be a fun way to talk to your kids about keeping their rooms clean to keep their toys happy, as well as instilling a sense of giving to others who may be less fortunate.

How to get kids to clean their rooms Tip 2

Do your kids have so many toys that you dread more entering your home?

Birthdays are so much fun, right? It's amazing to see all the wonderful gifts kids receive. When kids are small, it's easy to fit the gifts into your home. As time goes on, more and more toys accumulate and it's difficult to go through the toys to donate them when there are too many.

Get kids cleaning their rooms Tip 2:

Before your kids become attached to all the gifts they receive, plan to set aside at least one, if not more, so the toy or gift can be donated. This is easier to do when kids are younger. They will not remember all of the gifts they got. Set them aside for a while and see which ones they forgot about and hide them. New toys will be easier to donate around the holidays. As your kids grow older, have a conversation with them to see if they would be willing to donate toys they receive before opening them at the party. It's up to you if you want to tell guests, but I wouldn't recommend that. Guests want to feel appreciated with the gift given. You do appreciate that gift. It's just that you have so many toys and it's not possible for your child to play with all of the toys. It would be better for everyone to donate a new toy to a child in need. It will save your sanity in the long run when it's clean up time. Less is more. Your kids will enjoy playing with their toys and have more room to store them when there are less to clean up at the end of the day.

The Underground Toy Society children's books can also be a fun way to talk to your kids about keeping their rooms clean to keep their toys happy, as well as instilling a sense of giving to others who may be less fortunate.

How to get kids to clean their rooms: Tip 1

Getting kids to clean their rooms actually starts before they are even born. What? How can that be? When kids receive all those adorable gifts from baby showers, then holidays, then birthdays, stuff accumulates. Sooner or later, kids have more than they can possibly even play with at one time.

Get kids cleaning their rooms Tip 1:

Plan to set aside a least one, or more, gifts to donate or give to a family in need. When your kids are small, they will never remember what you gave away. Giving gifts away that are brand new is sometimes easier. Think toy donation bins at holiday time that often only accept new toys. Trust me, it will save you sanity when your kids grow older and don't want to part with their toys. Don't feel bad about giving gifts away that were given to your children because surely there will be more gifts in the future. Clutter will add up if you don't take action now.

In Memory of Mom: Meeting Grandmom Book

My kids always used to ask me why I never talked about my mom. Truthfully, it's hard. I miss her every single day. I wrote this book for them as well as for others who have a hard time talking about their lost loved ones. Watch the video below to see what's to come! You can find the book Meeting Grandmom by visiting viewbook.at/MeetingGrandmom

Jessica's two daughters, Janiece and Janelle, never met their grandmother. She had passed away when their mother and Aunt Jenny were just teenagers. Could Jessica's old toys from the past take Janiece and Janelle back in time to meet their grandmother?
