And we’ll probably never know
Whether he exists or not
And I believe not committing
Either way
Is very sensible

Brands

Alcohol brands
Wouldn’t want an alcoholic ambassador
Chocolate brands
Wouldn’t want a diabetic ambassador
Fast food brands
Wouldn’t want an obese ambassador
Yet a fitness brand
Would want a fit ambassador
It really makes you think

Help

My wife and I
Went to do the shopping
And as we're leaving
We see the neighbour's car
Has her lights on
So I get out of the car
And knock on the door
But she doesn't answer
And the next day
There's an RACQ car
Out the front of her place
And I think to myself:
How often has someone
Knocked on my door
Offering help
And I haven’t answered

Yes!

The Little Things

I tell you what
If you're not gonna
Get a skill
And you’re aiming for
A menial job
To pay the bills
I recommend
A dead-end
Office job
Why?
Well
You get to take a piss
Without asking
The manager

Work

For me
It doesn't matter
What job I get
What pay I receive
If it's not a writer
Of books
It's a side-step
An in-between
A means to an end

Happiness

While people chase joy
I chase contentment
It's a quiet happiness
That burns longer

Nial

There's a voice in my head
I call him Nial
And he always says the same thing
When things get hard:
'Why bother?'
And it's easy to agree
Because it's a strong case
But I know
Deep down
That it's better
To bother
So I ignore him
For the most part
