Roadside Lillies
A family of 4
Driving along a
Narrow and winding
Road at night
Lost control
Swerved into a tree
Everyone died
Then their families
Came with flowers
For weeks they
Freshened the flowers
But after a while
They stopped coming
And the flowers decayed
Like the memories
Of the family
In the crash
But the dead flowers
Tell the living
To slow down
And it's a small
Consolation

Keeping Busy
People are out there
Saving lives
Extinguishing burning houses
Laying bricks
Teaching kids
And here I am
Laying on a couch
At 1:30 pm
Looking out the window
Watching the clouds drifting by
And I feel like one of them
Saving lives
Extinguishing burning houses
Laying bricks
Teaching kids
And here I am
Laying on a couch
At 1:30 pm
Looking out the window
Watching the clouds drifting by
And I feel like one of them

A Question
What’s worse:
Making an offensive joke
About a problem
Or
Pretending to care about
A problem
Then not doing anything
To solve it

About a problem
Or
Pretending to care about
A problem
Then not doing anything
To solve it

Spinning Plates
A tree trees
A sea seas
A hill hills
A bird birds
A dog dogs
Yet a human doesn't human
We should be listening
To the animals
We deem
Inferior

Retirement
I understand why
Some people dread retirement
It's when the clock
Becomes obsolete
And you
I imagine
Feel the same way
Watching the workers
Keep busy
With their self-importance
