Soyuz 1 Disaster
Soyuz 1 was launched into orbit on 23 April 1967 carrying cosmonaut colonel Vladimir Komarov, On a flight with many technical problems, Komarov was killed on descent when his module crashed and his parachute failed.

Central Park Vietnam War Protest
At Easter 1967 an estimated 10,065 people participated inan anti-war event at the Sheep Meadow in Central Park.
The New York Times described them as “poets from the Bronx, dropouts from the East Village, interior decorators from the East Side, teachers from the West Side and teeny boppers from Long Island” and said that “they wore carnation petals and paper stars and tiny mirrors on foreheads, paint around the mouth and cheeks, flowering bedsheets, buttons and tights”.

Outer Space Treaty
The Outer space treaty of 1967 was a multi lateral agreement, governing the activities of states in the exploration and use of outer space .Key provisions included prohibiting nuclear weapons in space; limiting the use of the Moon and all other celestial bodies to peaceful purposes; establishing that space shall be freely explored and used by all nations; and precluding any country from claiming sovereignty over outer space or any celestial body.

Apollo 1 Fire Kills 3 US Astronauts
In January 1967, during a launch rehearsal test at Cape Kennedy, a fire in the cabin of the US Apollo 1 spacecraft killed all three crew members—Command Pilot Gus Grissom, Senior Pilot Ed White, and Pilot Roger B. Chaffee.
