Now Available!

Territory challenges. Dragon battles. Baby dragon debutantes. When will the chaos end?
Dragon Sage Elizabeth Darcy longs for life to return to normal, at least as normal as it could be for a Blue Order officer who lives with more household dragons than most small villages. Having two sisters and an infant dragon to present as debutantes to the Order, make ‘normal’ difficult. The fine ladies—she-dragons one and all—of the Cotilli...

From High Sensibility to Having More Sense
In case you haven’t heard, I’m working on a Sense and Sensibility book: Colonel Brandon in His Own Words. From the title (or if you read Fitzwilliam Darcy in His Own Words), you will have guessed that this novel will be told completely from the hero’s point of view, covering the scope of the original novel and a lot more. The upcoming book is about 3/4 done right now, and I hope to have it out sometime this summer! (Read some sneak peeks here and here)
So I’ve been dwelling in the world of Sense...

Celebrating Threads of Magic release with a Giveaway🎉!!!
Hello Everyone! I’m very excited to be celebrating the release of Threads of Magic here on Austen Variations as part of my blog tour.
Well, my second book in my series Mr. Darcy’s Magic is now out, and I’m already working on the next one. Some of you have been asking how many books there are going to be. It’s a crucial question, but I can’t yet give you a definitive answer. So far, my muse is telling me there will be four books, but who knows? Muses are very fickle things, and I generally live b...

Preview of My Upcoming and still Untitled Modern
Hi all! I scheduled myself to post today, hoping I’d have this back from one of my betas/sensitivity readers (aka – my oldest daughter), but school and work started back up again and I find myself still waiting on this. Since it’s what’s coming, I’m going to still put the first chapter up for you to check out. If you were at the JAFF Reader/Writer shindig, you heard me read it, though I have made a couple of teeny tiny adjustments since then. Needless to say, this is has not been edited or proo...

Happy 209th Birthday, Pride and Prejudice!!!
“I want to tell you that I have got my own darling Child from London;–on Wednesday I received one Copy, sent down by Falknor, with three lines from Henry to say that he had given another to Charles & sent a 3d by the Coach to Godmersham.”
letter to Cassandra, on receiving her first copy of Pride and Prejudice, January 29, 1813
As a woman who has been blessed to give birth three times, I know the joy of seeing my infant after nine months of waiting. The wrinkled skin; the cries of “I’m here w...

Her Sisterly Love Release
Her Sisterly Love is officially released! To celebrate, I have one last excerpt to share with you. You can read the other two here and here. Thank you all so much for your kind comments on my previous posts.
Chapter 2, Part II
As Darcy had expected, Bingley’s sisters spent the day after the assembly complaining about everything from the drive to it, the people, the musicians, even the colour of the walls. Bingley insisted that he was excessively pleased with his new neighbours. Hurst cared noth...

Joking with Jane
Jane Austen’s novels and the tone of her letters have always given me the feeling that she was a lot like Elizabeth Bennet.
I can’t help thinking that she modelled Elizabeth on herself, but it was unconsciously done. Otherwise she would have been too modest to jot down her famous description of Elizabeth in one of her letters to Cassandra:
‘I must confess that I think her as delightful a creature as ever appeared in print, and how I shall be able to tolerate those who do not like her at least...

New Year, New Story
It’s been a while since I shared a story here, so I thought I’d start the new year off right. This story centers around Caroline Bingley after she realizes Darcy will never be hers, and it’s more than a little snarky. It is part of my short story collection, Meryton Vignettes. It’s a touch long, but that just makes it more fun, right? Enjoy!
Life After Darcy
Really, what did they expect her to do? Simply move on? Pretend he hadn’t existed? That she hadn’t imagined what their life would be lik...

Joking with Jane in January, Part Two, by Diana Birchall
There is always something to learn from Jane Austen. Even when you sit down to write a light piece picking out some of your favorites among her infinite jests, you notice things you never saw before, and come to new observations, new conclusions. Last week, when I divided her books into the first three last week, with the three “mature” novels for this week, it starkly revealed to me a truth that has no doubt been obvious to many all along: that the two sets of books are markedly different in n...
