Viscount Saye’s First Love– Who is Florizel?

Hey all! As some of you might already know, I have recently released a book which is a collaborative effort with three author friends — A Match Made at Matlock by Jan Ashton, Julie Cooper, me, and Jessie Lewis. Each of us tackled and interwove the stories of a separate couple and while I won’t divulge all of who wrote which, its probably no big secret that I wrote about Viscount Saye and Miss Lillian Goddard!

But before there was Lilly, Saye had another beloved, a very good boy called Florizel. ...

(April) Fool for Love

This month’s theme is “Fool for Love,” partly inspired by April Fools’ Day.  And since I’m first up, I thought I’d start with a bit about April Fools’ Day itself, including a few infamous hoaxes. Then I have a fun excerpt for you that fits the theme!

According to history.com, the exact origins of April Fools’ Day, which has been celebrated for centuries by different cultures, are unknown. But there’s some speculation that it dates to 1582, when France made the switch from the Julian calendar to ...

The Marriage Bargain Cover Reveal and Excerpt

Hello everyone!

I have a new book coming out in just two and a half weeks. It is called ‘The Marriage Bargain’ and is a Pride and Prejudice variation inspired by a novel by Georgette Heyer titled ‘A Civil Contract’. I came up with the plot years ago (while re-reading the Heyer story), and I am very excited to finally be sharing it with you. It is a reversal of fortunes for our couple too, with Elizabeth being wealthy and Darcy impoverished. In short, they end up making a marriage of convenience–...

That Perfect Someone Release Day Celebration!

It’s release day! I don’t know about you, but I’m excited for That Perfect Someone to be out there. This one was a lot of fun and I loved getting to know Chase Bennet. It was a fun and different dynamic for Lizzy to have a brother who was a confidante and someone to keep her somewhat in check. It was also a trip down memory lane of sorts by using the Hill Country as the backdrop for William and Lizzy’s romance as well as centering them around horses and a veterinary clinic.

I’m going to share on...

The Turnspit Dragon now in Audio

Book 9 of Jane Austen’s Dragons is now on Audible with the amazing voice talents of Ben Fife, the Voice of Jane Austen’s Dragons.

I gotta be honest here, guys, I never expected this series to get to book 9. I really figured on a three books series covering the events of Pride and Prejudice and that would be that. Instead, with the encouragment of amazing readers, this series has grown to include the events of Persuasion as well s a host of original characters, human and dragon, that have spri...

March is for merriment & spring flowers

The snowdrops have come and gone, the daffodils are in bloom and the tulips I brought home from Pemberley are only 4″ tall and still keep me guessing which variety is which.

The Spanish bluebells are coming out in force, and as I was thinning them out yesterday (under careful supervision 🙂 ), I thought this would be a good time for a walk among the bluebells.

It’s also a walk down the memory lane. This is an old excerpt, from The Darcy Legacy, but I hope you’ll like a springtime stro...

Merriment: a scene from Brother of the Bride

Merriment: a scene from Brother of the Bride, by Jack Caldwell

Greetings everyone. Jack Caldwell here.

This month’s theme is merriment. Now, few people know merriment like us Cajuns. Unfortunately, Mardi Gras was on March 1, so it’s a little late to talk about that. And it is Lent, which we kinda take seriously over here. We’ll just have to make due with a scene from my upcoming Pride and Prejudice sequel, Brother of the Bride.

To establish the scene, it’s set in 1816 of my Jane Austen’s Fightin...

Come Away With Me!

Continuing with my theme from my last post on escapism,  I wanted to take you on a journey. Recently I was able to attend a writer’s retreat in Monterey, California with a few members of my writing group. To say I needed the camaraderie and like-mindedness of other Janeites is an understatement. I think we all get to a point where we feel like we might break, and I was there.

However, I don’t want to dwell on what got me to that point. Instead, I want to share a few wonderful experiences which w...
