Dragons of Pemberley Audio now Available

The Dragons of Pemberley have arrived in audiobook!

Narrated, once again by Benjamin Fife, you can now listen to the Darcy’s latest dragon adventure.

Homecomings never live up to expectations.

After a visit to London filled with more fairy tale intrigues—kidnappings, dragon battles, secret societies—than any woman had right to experience, Dragon Sage, Lady Elizabeth Darcy, only wants to return to the serenity and safety of Pemberley estate.

Likewise, Sir Fitzwilliam Darcy, knight ...

The Cranky Cajun Cheesehead Vents

The CRANKY Cajun Cheesehead Vents, by Jack Caldwell

Greetings, everyone. Jack Caldwell here.

I have, for most of my life, been what Miss Bingley would call a “great reader.” I’ve enjoyed classic literature, popular fiction, and historical tomes.

Thus, I have become a lover of words, particularly English words. According to WorldAtlas, it has been theorized that the English language has more words than any other (although the Chinese may disagree with that). It is particularly colorful and rich b...

The Travails of Mr Charles Bingley, Part 1

Hello everyone!

Today, I’m posting the first part of a short story. I’m not sure exactly how many parts there will be—three or four. I sought inspiration in the July monthly theme, “When One Travels in the Summer”, but when I needed a little more to get the ideas flowing, I went back to another source, my little book of quotes from Nancy Drew, which I’ve previous used. The quote that particularly resonated this time was: “Call before driving a considerable distance to talk with someone,” from Th...

WIP news: What am I working on?

You’re probably be wondering whether I’m going to give an update on the release date of my third novel in my Dangerous Magic series. Alas, all I can report is that I’m working on it as diligently as possible, and I’ll let you know as soon as I’m sure of the release date.

But for now, the really good news is that the Muse has been giving me lots of new ideas, so I’ve been scribbling away. Lots of possible different directions, but which one should I focus on? I seem to be jumping from one plot to...

A little more magic – Pride & Prejudice style

Yes, my new magical Pride & Prejudice variation is still coming! I’ve finally got the ending in hand, and hopefully I’ll have a finished manuscript soon. It’s taken longer than I would have liked, so I’m excited to finally be getting there. Anyway, here’s another excerpt from it. This follows shortly after the previous excerpts where Darcy has learned that Elizabeth not only can interfere with the illusions he creates, but can unexpectedly cast them herself. The first scene starts with Elizabeth...

Summer Travels

Last month, when I went to stay at Hunsford, I was seriously tempted to drive up to Pemberley as well.

When I mentioned that to my husband, he didn’t roll his eyes or anything. He’s always a gentleman, and his patience for everything to do with my obsession borders on the superhuman. He only pointed out that I’ve been to Lyme Park and Chatsworth umpteen times, but I’ve never stayed in Rutland, so I should use this opportunity to explore the local area instead of driving back and forth to Derbys...

The Greatest Risk-Chapter 1

“I am not at all in a humor for writing; I must write on until I am.”

~Jane Austen

Happy Thursday, dear readers! I hope your year is progressing nicely, as we’ve hit the half way point! Can you believe we are almost in July? Life has been busy for me as of late. If I hadn’t mentioned it before, I have been given a new position at work…the assistant to the Head Football Coach. This was not a position I applied for, but one I inherited when my husband took over the program in March. Since then, m...

Book Launch! “Colonel Brandon in His Own Words”

It’s launch day, and I’m so excited to introduce you to my brand new book! Colonel Brandon has arrived and is now ready to tell his story in His Own Words .

“I was just going to tell you of our agreeable surprize in seeing him arrive…” (Jane Austen, Emma)

What kind of book is it? I’d say it’s a retelling of Sense and Sensibility from Colonel Brandon’s point of view, except it’s so much more! The story agrees with but is not at all limited to the scope of the original novel. It fil...

The lane to Hunsford

Teigh Old Rectory

Flights of Fancy is this month’s theme, so how about flights of fancy in Hunsford?

Six years ago almost to the day, my friend Mira and I finished our P&P tour with a very brief glimpse of Teigh Old Rectory (aka Hunsford 1995).

I’ve been hoping to go back ever since and stay for longer, yet somehow it had not happened for quite a while. There never seemed to be a good moment. I got caught up in the day-to-day as you do, and then came the wretched pandemic…

But all of a sudden ...
