Everyday like clockwork, a meal tray arrived to her chamber. Her immaculately decorated, spacious house of horrors. The large, sinister looking man covered in tattoos and body armor would saunter into her room and deliver a tray of the most delicious meals. The aroma was always so hard to resist, even though every fiber of her being screamed at her to grab the tray and launch it at him, and then run like hell for the door. The nightmares she had witnessed while being in this godforsaken place was the only thing that kept her sitting frozen, watching him approach with careful eyes.
Dropping the tray on the dark wood table a few feet from the bed where she sat, he leveled her with a look.
“You will eat it.” It wasn’t a question, it was a cold command from the brick wall pretending to be a human. In the first few weeks of her captivity, she had learned what happened when she tried to remain stubborn and starve herself. Shuddering, she shook off the horrific memories.
“I want to see him.” She spoke out of nowhere, surprising herself as much as him. He cocked a brow at her, his displeasure at her demand evident.
“He will come to you when you are more ripe.” With those words, he turned and stomped out of the room, the finality of the lock clicking sounding as loud as a bullhorn. She dropped her head in defeat, her hands moving to splay across her belly protectively as silent tears tracked down her cheeks.

“Put it on her,” he directed, giving her absolutely no possibility for privacy, despite the other people milling about the costume room.

All night she dreamt of blood. The crackle and crunch of bones made her uneasy.
Morgan gasped and kicked the sheets off her body until she forced herself awake. Her head throbbed with pain. She smelled like sweat and fear, and there was something stuck between her teeth. She pried at it with her fingernails but was unsuccessful. She let out a frustrated groan and ran into the bathroom, where she grabbed a bit of dental floss. The thin piece of white string slid back and forth between her molars. She let out a sigh of relief when she felt whatever it was come loose.
Probably a piece of chicken from yesterday’s lunch.
She felt the large piece of skin between her thumb and index finger. Only it had…ridges. She frowned.
That’s strange.
She went to the living room and put on her glasses. They blurred her vision.
“What the…?” she muttered out loud as she took them off. Morgan stared at her glasses as though she were looking at them for the first time. That was when she realized that she had made it to the bathroom without them. She also noticed that she hadn’t turned on a single light in the house. It was completely dark, yet she could see everything as though all of the light bulbs had been switched on.
She studied the item she had had lodged in her mouth. Skin. Human skin. She could tell because there was a fingerprint.
“Oh my God,” she whispered.
A little bit of bile ran up her throat. She made it to the bathroom in time to vomit. She mumbled a prayer as she reached for the knob to flush the toilet. Her hand remained frozen as she noticed something floating on the water. It was a mix between pink and blue-grey. With a trembling hand, she reached in and picked it up.
“Jesus Christ!”
She tossed the item and watched in horror as it flew half way across the bathroom. It bounced across the floor. She pushed herself away from it until her back touched the cold bathroom wall. It was a finger… a quarter of a woman’s pinky finger.
Then…she thought about what happened to her two weeks ago.
