Treat Your Human to a Cat Lady Box – Plus Giveaway!

I'm actually holding this box hostage until I get a treat!

I bet all you kitties have humans who work very hard on your behalf! Even if some of them are kind of clueless and prone to mistakes. You should make sure they get encouragement and rewards every so often, and here is the perfect solution: the Cat Lady Box! It’s a monthly subscription box, like the the ones they have for us kitties, except it has cool, hand-picked surprises for your favorite cat-loving human! It was created by Dorian Wagner, blogger at Your Daily Cute, and passionate cat advocate.

Actually, something smells really good in here

Let’s see what is in this one.

I have to remind myself that this is mostly for my human

Wow, there is lots of cool stuff here! Plus, since we got the Crazy Cat Lady Box, there are even a couple of things for us kitties! Cool deal!

You can put this on MY lips!

Look at this — catnip scented lip balm! It’s from Wild Rose Herbs and it really smells like catnip, not like those fakey scents that lip balms sometimes have. My human put some on her finger and let me check it out. I licked it right off! She says I am not allowed to lick it off her lips, though. Spoilsport.

I had to be reminded this was not for me

There was also this adorable ceramic pendant from Etsy seller Southern Gracie. Isn’t it pretty?

It looks good with my fur!

Here is a closer look!

Not my size. Sorry.

There was also a buttery-soft T-shirt, with a design exclusive to Cat Lady Box! I didn’t model it because it didn’t fit me… but it fit my human perfectly! Which doesn’t always happen with T-shirts.

Humans! They SO want to be us

Oh, and I almost forgot the cutest part! This is the back of the T-shirt.

Tastes good, but not as good as the catnip lip balm!

There were also a couple of fun extras: an awesomely chewable Cat Lady Box pen!

Not chewable, according to my human

Plus a couple of nifty temporary tattoos.

My fortune says I will be playing with this very soon!

As I mentioned, the basic Cat Lady Box just has cool, hand-picked human items, but if you pay just a little bit extra, you get the Crazy Cat Lady Box, which includes a couple of kitty items! The month we received included this Organic Catnip Fortune Cookie from Miso Handmade.

She just shows up like magic

And there were treats too! You know Binga was right on top of that! They are from Omega Paw’s series of adult beverage-inspired treats for cats. Don’t worry, there’s no alcohol at all, just good-for-kitties stuff! We all loved the Meowmosa flavor.

Where did you put those treats, by the way?

Every month the Cat Lady Box has 2–3 unique cat themed items that you won’t find in any store — jewelry, mugs, home decor, shirts and more! Plus if you get the Crazy Cat Lady option, there will be a couple of fun things for your cat too! Five percent of the profits go to cat rescue and shipping in the U.S. is free. Subscribe for yourself or for a friend! And guess what? I get to give away an August Crazy Cat Lady Box to a lucky human and her cats! Just leave a comment on this blog post and then say you did on the Rafflecopter widget! There are other options too, once you’ve done that. You have until Monday, August 24 to enter — open to residents of the U.S. and Canada… or if you are international, you can name a U.S. or Canadian-based winner to gift it to!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Disclosure: I received a July Crazy Cat Lady Box to review, but I only let my readers know about something I think is awesome.

Ordinary Everyday Selfie

I was hoping to get some rest

Can you believe that with all these calendar photo shoots in the past couple of weeks that I did not do any selfies on the set? So finally I realized it was getting late and I’d better fit something in!

Honestly, I'm not much of a techie kitty

I just need to get it all set up…

If it had turned out right, my job would have been done

Too bad there’s so much space over my head and the focus is off — it would have been good otherwise.

Uh-oh!

Oops! The iPhone almost fell over! My human would not have been happy. The supposedly extra-tough case it is in is already broken (not my fault).

I really need to work on framing these things.

Well, the framing is still off and the focus is still off and… oh, whatever! This is what you get. I’m gonna nap now.

Saturday Catinee: Big Cats Keeping It Cool

Summer's Saturday Catinee

This really fun video was made by Big Cat Rescue last year. It’s all about how to make popsicles for our bigger brothers and sisters! And you know these aren’t silly, fruit-flavored concoctions. Think chicken, sardines, blood… yum! And they look really easy to make — all you need is the ingredients, a blender and containers! Maybe some of your humans will get creative and make you smaller versions.

Cool Kitty-Themed Back-to-School Stuff From Etsy Sellers

I'm too smart for school!

I know a lot of young humans are sad because they have to go back to school — and leave their cats behind! So I came up with a selection of cat themed school items that will remind them of the kitties who are napping in a sun puddle while they’re stuck in a stuffy classroom. Let’s see what I found.

Insulated Lunch Bag from Bag It With KF Creations

Insulated Lunch Bag With Cats

This cute one-of-a-kind lunch bag is handmade and really charming. It’s insulated with a nylon interior and vinyl bottom, all for easy cleaning. Oh, and did I mention it’s really cute? From Bag It With KF Creations.

Of course we kitties are too smart to need school, but this vintage style illustration, adapted from a 1920s kids’ book, is still adorable! Printed on matte paper and glue-ready, you’ll get 24 in a clear plastic sleeve. From Oiseaux.

Fun Cat Sticky Bookmarks from Raw Possibility

I love these little post-it bookmarks! You get 200 of them in this variety of personalities and colors! My human could have used these on her most recent book project, to mark all the mistakes she had to correct! From Raw Possibility.

Teacher's pets cat card from This Week In Cats

Teacher’s Pet Cat Card

Here’s a cool card for teacher, especially if she is a cat lover! Printed on white recycled superfine paper and comes with one kraft brown envelope. From This Week In Cats, which also has a lot of other charming cat cards.

Curious Cat iPhone Case from Asphvelt

This is just one of a series of fun, simple designs of cat silhouettes playing on the back of an iPhone case. The cats come in several different colors and the cases are available for the 4/4s through 6/6 Plus. From Asphvelt.

I hope you enjoyed my Etsy picks!

Not Loving This Photo Session

Slow blink or fast nap? You decide

You mean you want me to do yet another photo session for the calendar? I was just about to take a nap.

NOT fleas!

All right, I’ll get up. Give me sec.

Shouldn't it be I headbutt you?

So apparently this is for February and Valentine’s Day. And you want me to look romantic.

Thinking lovingly about the treat that is just out of frame

How’s this? It’s my “looking longingly into the distance” pose.

Serving raspberries for Valentine's dessert

You didn’t like that one? How about this one?

I hope the boy cats don't get the wrong idea

I’m done. ’Bye.

Cat Toes: Human Magnets

Those two? They are asking for bribes to not disturb the photo session

Why am I wearing a dress in this random-looking photo, and what does it have to do with my toes?

I actually did NOT want to sit still!

When I am wearing an outfit, it is easier for me to sit still, and I wanted to show off my toes today! As you know, kitties’ toes are human magnets, and many of us are not shy about using them! It is just another one of our human manipulation tools. They help us to get humans to do what we want, or to be forgiven when we have “misbehaved.” (Although there really is no such thing as kitty misbehavior — all kitties are perfect. It says so right here in Sparkle’s notes.)

You can't miss those toe hawks!

Cat toes are especially magnetic when they have special features like tufts sticking out.

Black paws AND toe hawks!

If you are a ruddy-colored Somali like me, or many colors of tabby cats, you also have black paws, and lots of humans love black paws on non-black cats! Actually they like them on black cats too. Cat toes are some of the easiest and most effective ways we have to get humans to do our bidding.

I had to do a bunch of High Fives to get this one - that was fine, I got a treat for each try

Can I have a High Five?

The Imperfect Photo Shoot

I'll never catch any birds with my human hovering like this

Do I look slightly annoyed in this photo? I am! My human said we were going outside so I could watch birds, but she lied! She really took me outside to take photos of me.

Plus I bet they were laughing at me

It’s really hard to plan a bird attack when your human is trying to straighten flyaway tail fur! Why couldn’t she just Photoshop those couple of unruly strands?

Hey, if I catch something, you don't need to give me dinner

When we were out in the sun, she kept fretting about the light being too contrasty. I didn’t get the problem — I could see the birds just fine.

Birds don't care about backlighting

She kept trying to get my backlighting and front lighting just right.

Was it a skunk? A possum?

While she was working on that (and not doing a very good job), I discovered that someone had pooped in my yard! But it wasn’t a dog or a cat. My human did not want me sniffing it. She said it was not a good photo op.

Still wondering who pooped in my yard

At least that livened things up — my human started crawling around on the grass a lot more carefully! Then she turned on the camera flash to use as “fill” so the photos weren’t so contrasty.

Too bad there weren't squirrels too!

If my human was looking for the perfect shot, this afternoon was a bust. Nearly all the photos were what she calls, “Good, but no cigar.” (What is that supposed to mean, anyhow?) At least I had fun!

Sunday Car Selfies

You DO know I'm being well compensated for this!

For World Cat Day yesterday, my human took me to the local small pet store to get some treats! Plus some cat food she can’t get at the major chains. I met a nice old lady and let her hold me — she said I smelled great! Anyhow, when I got back to my human’s car, I decided to take some selfies.

That timer is a life-saver!

So first I set up the timer, as usual…

It IS kind of edgy, I have to admit!

And almost missed being in the frame at all!

I think I was trying to get a treat before finishing the shot

I don’t know what happened here! It might make an interesting piece of abstract art… but not a selfie.

This one was hard!

Finally! I guess having the iPhone horizontal worked better!

By the way, if you are wondering what kind of treats I got, it was Orijen Alberta Wild Boar. They are very expensive (although they were cheaper at the store than at the Amazon link), but they are good for me, and I only get a few!

Saturday Catinee: TV Addict Cat Can’t Stop!

Summer's Saturday Catinee

What can you do when your family member has a serious addiction? Clearly, all attempts to stop him are futile! That’s what Hamlet discovers when he tries to get Sebastian to stop his fascination with the TV! No wonder oldsters called it the “boob tube.”
