The Imperfect Photo Shoot

I'll never catch any birds with my human hovering like this

Do I look slightly annoyed in this photo? I am! My human said we were going outside so I could watch birds, but she lied! She really took me outside to take photos of me.

Plus I bet they were laughing at me

It’s really hard to plan a bird attack when your human is trying to straighten flyaway tail fur! Why couldn’t she just Photoshop those couple of unruly strands?

Hey, if I catch something, you don't need to give me dinner

When we were out in the sun, she kept fretting about the light being too contrasty. I didn’t get the problem — I could see the birds just fine.

Birds don't care about backlighting

She kept trying to get my backlighting and front lighting just right.

Was it a skunk? A possum?

While she was working on that (and not doing a very good job), I discovered that someone had pooped in my yard! But it wasn’t a dog or a cat. My human did not want me sniffing it. She said it was not a good photo op.

Still wondering who pooped in my yard

At least that livened things up — my human started crawling around on the grass a lot more carefully! Then she turned on the camera flash to use as “fill” so the photos weren’t so contrasty.

Too bad there weren't squirrels too!

If my human was looking for the perfect shot, this afternoon was a bust. Nearly all the photos were what she calls, “Good, but no cigar.” (What is that supposed to mean, anyhow?) At least I had fun!
