Reviews – Everything Nice

Everything Nice is the standalone sequel to Sugar and Spice and my first foray into an m/m/f menage. Gotta tell you, it was touch and go on this story for awhile and I'm not sure I would have finished it if not for Jambrea Jo Jones' encouragement. She dared me to write the story, but then she continually offered advice and feedback. Between her support and Rhian Cahill constantly talking me off the ledge, the story made its way out and on to the page. And the reviews were actually pretty...

Happy Monday

Well. It is for me. I'm at the beginning of a week-long family trip to the beach. My in-laws are visiting and despite the OVERabundance of jellyfish yesterday, the No Swimming flag no longer waves and it's a beautiful day here.  Tonight is steaks on the grill and ice cold beer. I can't wait.

And today, I'm celebrating my wedding anniversary as well–18 years. My mother joked the other day that she "didn't see that coming!" LOL. I have to admit there's a lot of truth to that statement. I think l...

Meet the Heat – Valerie Tibbs

Valerie Tibbs is a unique member of International Heat in that, like T, she isn't a writer. Valerie is, in fact, a fantastic cover artist. Her covers can be found at Loose ID, Ellora's Cave, Samhain Publishing as well as many, many other places. She's EVERYWHERE because she simply that talented! I thought I'd share six of my favorite Valerie covers with you.

To see more of Valerie's amazing work, check out her website at http://tibbsdesign.com/. She's also hosting the International Heat blog

Saturday Snippet

Today's theme is the "Black Moment". Could there be anything more vital to a romantic plot? That moment when it seems all is lost? When the reader has that tiny fear there really won't be a happy ending? I think one of my books with the blackest moment was actually my very first published story, Erotic Research and I thought I'd share just a bit of it here.

Excerpt:

"Christ, the first time I give my heart and soul to a woman and she thinks it's all a fucking game."

"Heart and soul?" Julia...

Reviews – No Recourse

No Recourse is a very different sort of book for me. While I primarily write erotic romance, my first genre love was historical romances. When I started writing, what I wrote was the June Girls series, two books that explore what would happen if a very modern woman of today were swept back to Regency England. I loved writing them and I hope to go back to expand the series one day in the future.

From Two Lips Reviews:

"Hayley and Jack have pasts in which they have suffered abuse and that shaped ...

Meet the Heat – Jess Dee

This week, we're featuring International Heat author, Jess Dee. I knew OF Jess long before I actually met her. I'd enjoyed her books at Samhain for quite a while before she and I connected online. We'd participated in a menage chat on the Samhain Cafe one night with Jayne Rylon. The three of us had so much fun, it wasn't long before a genuine friendship was born. Jess is my kind of people. She's a smartass with a wicked sense of humor and I love her books! I chose to share an excerpt from...

Saturday Snippet

I'm a huge fan of books with a friends to lovers theme, so I suppose it's not surprising that I've written a few like that. One of my favorite friendships was in Sugar and Spice. Travers and Brooks had known each other forever and a day, so it was particularly fun when they suddenly started seeing each other in a different light.

Excerpt:

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?"

Ginny winced as Travers barked his question from behind her. She turned slowly, sighing loudly. Looks like the...

Reviews – Sugar and Spice

It's Thursday and that means some more reviews. Mercifully the critics were kind to Sugar and Spice. Just like a mother, I know authors shouldn't have favorites, but I have to admit this is one of the books I've written that I'm most proud of. Don't know why really. It's just a short, silly story, but I was totally in love with Ryan, the hero and I loved the friendship between these characters. Sometimes I re-read it when I need a pick-me-up. OH–and I thought the cover was hot. :)

From Book...

Meet the Heat – JR Patrick

I don't think there are words to describe what an important role JR has played in my writing career. She found me early on and became one of my most brutal–and beloved–critique partners and editors. Nothing gets by this woman! She's tough and I love her for it. She's talk me so much about the writing craft and I'm not sure I'd have half as many books published right now if not for her guiding hand.

So imagine my delight when she sold her first book, Only Yours, to Dreamspinner Press. Her...

Saturday Snippet

This week's snippets will take you to exotic locales. Sit back and enjoy a visit to paradise. Just remember…sometimes paradise isn't always what it's cracked up to be.

Excerpt from Mad about Meg:

"What do you mean you don't have my rental car anymore? I called weeks ago to reserve it," Meg Williams asked. Her flight to Eden Isle had taken three times longer than it was supposed to due to an oncoming storm and an unexpected layover in Houston because of some faulty gauge on her first connecting ...
