Military Might the Founding Fathers and Integrity in Leadership
Recently I read something by a 95 year-old Navy retired serviceman by the name of Harold Estes who had written the following (my excerpt) to the President.
'I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do....'
I can’t figure out what country you are the president of.
You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:
” We’re no longer a Christian nation”
” America is arrogant”
– '(Your wife even announced to the world,” America is mean-spirited. ” Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our
war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)'
'...You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.
You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That’s not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.'
My response below:
Heart, soul and values begin at home not on foreign theaters of war. Nevertheless indeed there is much room for improvement within the White House and across every federal agency "serving" the American people. Good post and perspective. Thanks for sharing. Blessings to your family and business.
Sometimes a bit of humility and transparency does wonders when dealing with foreign policy. Self-righteousness has not served us well over the past few decades. My grandfather's generation (he being a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel) got it right. Today we have sold our nation to corporations and outsourced our military in proxy for economic ventures our Founding Fathers would never have approved of. Collectively categorizing all generations of military servicemen and their efforts together is honorable seeing how they serve under command, but those in command often misuse their blood, sweat, tears, might and sacrifice wrongly.
Indeed liberating the world from tyrants is commendable, but when we as a nation become so strong that we are always right and bully our way into nations, abuse their civilians (as in Abu Ghraib and Fallujah, Iraq where human rights abuses occurred, WMDs such as "white phosphorus" were used by the U.S. in Fallujah, and innocents killed in Hadith), we performed "scientific experiments" injecting Latin Americans as in Guatemala with STDs (as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted and apologized for), bombed and killed innocents across Pakistan by the hundreds with our drone attacks and bankrupted Iceland with our financial deregulations and letting our bankers run amuck throughout the earth; these are not the values and freedoms our Founding Fathers, now my grandfather's generation risked their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to preserve and uphold.

Food Writer - Food Poet - Food Love Affair
Ah the taste of good food. The more I eat food here at home in the United States, the more I realize how few restaurants know how to prepare good food anymore.
Unfortunately the majority of restaurants opt for faster and cheaper, instead of good quality and healthy food. This is a tragedy indeed.
Having traveled overseas to 70 countries where less food additives and preservatives are used; I have common to be able to discern quality and healthy food from the rubbish many are being served here at home. Moreover I have come to learn good quality food is genuinely fresh, natural and healthy.
I mean come on, garlic and cilantro tastes far better than most seasonings and artificial flavorings being used by food manufacturers and restaurants. Come on America! You can do better!
America is the geographical melting pot of the world. Yet we are dumbing down our food right along with our educational system. Sadly when I ate "Greek food" aboard Celebrity Cruise Line (an American owned Cruise Line) while traveling through the Mediterranean; I, my wife and the Greek guests dining with me all agreed the Greek food was pathetic and left much to be desired.
Imagine cruising through so many Greek islands but being unable to access good quality Greek food - not even a single Greek salad.
As a poet of several books, I look forward to compiling my first food poetry book in days to come.
Currently I am being invited to do restaurant reviews; further inspiring my food love affair and new content as a food writer.
Should you be desirous of me coming to your restaurant and conducting a food review and restaurant review, feel free to write and let me know about your restaurant, the kind of food you serve and if you will cover any travel expenses involved to get to you.
I'm currently residing in Central Florida, Orlando metro should anyone be local.
As U.C. Davis showed in a recent university study, many restaurants lie to consumers and say they are serving pure extra virgin olive oil, when in actuality the oils being used are often a blend of canola and/or sesame seed oil.
Hey, come on now! If you are going to cut corners when serving and selling food, at least be honest and have some integrity. Otherwise I pray God judges your "restaurant," and it soon goes out of business.
America, a.k.a. corporation nation has enough people trying to monetize the moment. When it comes to food, we need quality, heart, soul and a caring restauranteur who genuinely enjoys the food he/she prepares and serves.
Bon appetite as you delight, prepare and serve your signature dishes and improve the food standards in our country.

My wife today asked my how come her Pinterest was pinning, tweeting her Twitter account and tagging her on her Facebook page without her permission? Well if you are not careful, Pinterest periodically will enable an automatic little rectangular box on the bottom of your pictures pin, wherein are two boxes - one for Twitter and another for Facebook.
If you are moving right along happily pinning like crazy and not looking at the details (remember the devil is in the details) Pinterest may manage to get some of your pins moved right over to your Twitter and Facebook accounts rather quickly.
Be alert and unclick the Twitter and Facebook boxes if you don't want all your peeps in cyberspace seeing what you are pinning on Pinterest.

When asked recently to write about which of these core values at Teach for Malaysia mean the most to me, I responded addressing each of the core values from my personal life experience.
Why do you want to be part of Teach For Malaysia? What would you hope to accomplish as a staff in Teach For Malaysia?
Having lived and traveled throughout Malaysia, I am very fond of Malaysian culture, people, and food. The Southeast Asian way of life appeals to me. I enjoy and get along very well with the people and Malaysian lifestyle. As a very well educated American with two master degrees, advanced executive education, the author of 20 books, and having traveled to 70 countries; I can provide families, faculty, and students a unique perspective of the world in which we live. I am also a state of Florida certified English teacher and have a TESOL certificate from Trinity College London, giving me two formal academic approaches to English language instruction (the American and British models) from which to ensure a wonderful and successful learning experiences for students.

Why do you want to be part of Teach For Malaysia? What would you hope to accomplish as a staff in Teach For Malaysia?
Having lived and traveled throughout Malaysia, I am very fond of Malaysian culture, people, and food. The Southeast Asian way of life appeals to me. I enjoy and get along very well with the people and Malaysian lifestyle. As a very well educated American with two master degrees, advanced executive education, the author of 20 books, and having traveled to 70 countries; I can provide families, faculty, and students a unique perspective of the world in which we live. I am also a state of Florida certified English teacher and have a TESOL certificate from Trinity College London, giving me two formal academic approaches to English language instruction (the American and British models) from which to ensure a wonderful and successful learning experiences for students.
