MLK Speaker: Civil Rights Speaker for Martin Luther King Day

Warm greetings from sunny Florida.

As a social activist for affirmative action, justice and corporate & governmental accountability I am delighted you are seeking a speaker for Dr. Martin Luther King day. I had the honor and distinct privilege of meeting Rev. Bernice King (MLK's daughter) in southern California when she spoke at our church.

Today in the spirit of Dr. King we must continue to work to maintain the Civil Rights are forefathers won for us. Truly civil rights violations continue to occur in America:

- The New York police murder of an unarmed African American groom at his bachelor party.

- The boot camp beating leading to the death of a 14 year old African American boy here in Florida.

- The University of Florida student who asked Senator John Kerry an undesirable question and was removed from the venue and tasered by campus security.

Because Dr. King was for peace and against the war in Vietnam, the FBI saw fit to spy on him and his wife up to four years after his assassination. Purposing to walk in the same spirit of brotherhood and endeavoring to live like a King, we must question and when necessary stand against inhumane wars initiated without provocation far beyond our borders.

As for me I was raised by a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army (my beloved grandfather) and therefore understand the militaristic mindset when it comes to dealing with terrorism. I have encountered Islamic terrorism in my travels to 55 countries globally and recognize a place for self-defense and a time to confront evildoers... providing we who call ourselves "good", "righteous" and "just" don't follow out the same atrocities in war as our enemies we demonize and label evil.

Yet before we battle abroad, it seems there is much work and many battles still to be fought at home to secure and sustain the civil rights of our own people presently being taken advantage of and denied justice on a daily basis.

If Martin Luther King were alive today, he would continue to cry out against such injustice. For certainly there can be no peace with such cruel injustices being perpetrated against the human race. Meanwhile many call our country "the greatest on earth", although most don't have passports and have never traveled internationally to test their theories, nor to converse with those who we think to be our enemies.

The modernization of the world and global means of world travel has brought us closer together economically, technologically and via our entertainment.

I have been to Africa five times, having slept in a tent in the bush within war torn countries for months and been so deep into the bush where electricity doesn't exist and some had never before seen a white man. Thus I intimately know the plight of the black man abroad and at home (the latter through my work in the inner city as a minister and through prison ministry among inmates).

Emancipation legally has come, but for transformation to occur illumination within and the fight of faith must be fought individually to ensure progression to the promised land Dr. King saw and dreamed of for us all.

Had Dr. King and other Civil RIghts leaders remained silent, everybody in America would be enslaved regardless of the color of our skin. Because where oppression exists in shades and degrees, it can bleed and spead to burden all of humanity.

I wish for you the heart, strength, inspiration, fire and burning desire of Dr. King to continue to carry the torch of light in a dark and desperate world thirsting for prophetic leaders full of courage and boldness lift up their voices for civil rights for all.

Sincerely,

Paul F Davis

Financial Success Speaker: Success Secrets - Negotiation and Timing

One of the biggest and most simple keys to financial success is always remember to buy low and sell high. This often forgotten secret is worth its weight in gold (or platinum).

Many people get emotional when buying homes, cars, engagement rings and big ticket items. Hence they often overpay and get burned along the way only to later wish they had used their head and not been totally swept away with their emotions.

As a life coach and author of some relational books, I have had the opportunity to counsel several singles and unhappy married couples. In the heat of the moment when hormones are raging, many dive headfirst into longterm relationships, living together and marriage without thinking things through fully.

Looking at the handsome or beautiful frame, many people forget to fully evaluate the picture inside (if there is any at all). Once the infatuation and lust wears off and good senses return, often so many lifelong decisions have been made (including having children) that many have surpassed the point of no return. Now they are left to deal with the repercussions of not including their mind in the lifelong decisions their hormonally charged body and turbulent emotions got them swept up into.

As for financial success, a horny buyer is no better. Sales reps can spot an emotional buyer. It's quite obvious by your body language and speech.

That being said, when buying conceal those emotions and all outward excitement until you have bought the item at the lowest possible price. Then (and only then) should you rejoice.

A year ago I saw some sunglasses I really liked - Prada H56 polarized for men (as I recall), which were ridiculously priced (and still are in most places) at $330 to $350. I knowing full well I did not want to spend that kind of money decided to wait.

Yet a year later when my eyes started to have problems and show redness, a visit to the optometrist (along with some tests there) revealed sun damage to my eyes. No surprise due to my exposure to sun in Florida and being a former lifeguard and surfer (although I'm not exceptionally good at the later, but like to give it a go on occassion... besides Florida's waves leave much to be desired).

Nevertheless not liking the redness and yellowish colors beginning to appear in the white of my eyes, I knew it was time to invest in some good sunglasses. My requirements for "good sunglasses" are: 1. polarization for protection; 2. durability (so they last a long time); 3. style (so I don't look like a dork wearing them).

Thankfully upon searching around on the Internet for the Prada style I liked, I found several great sites with prices well below retail. The only problem is none of the sites had the polarized shades I wanted.

So I went to the store to try on the sunglasses. I popped in at Macy's and liked the sunglasses, but still wasn't liking the price. It was then the sales rep gave me a 25% off coupon (which she said also could be used for sunglass purchases through the Sunglass Hut ...a first for Macy's).

I therefore agreed to buy the sunglasses and was able to purchase them for $247, well under the usual retail price. Hence timing is everything when buying.

The sales manager who had worked for Macy's for 6 years told me this was the first time the Sunglass Hut allowed Macy's to apply their 25% off coupons toward sunglass purchases. The manager bought the same pair of shades as me he said at 30% off, but six months later Prada came out with the polarized version (which he was kicking himself over, because he wasn't able to get them). But I was. Thank God!

The same day I scored the Prada sunglasses, I also seized a phenomenal deal I had been patiently waiting on for several months - a new fitness health club membership. As a lifetime member of Bally's Total Fitness I wasn't liking the fact that clubs were being closed without forewarning. Smelling a lingering bankruptcy and the possibility of more clubs being shut down, rather than pay $158 to renew my annual "lifetime" membership (since you have to pay small annual dues) I decided to wait... while using the Bally's Club anyhow since the staff likes me and lets me in.

LA Fitness near my home gave me a free 10 day pass, which I enjoyed and used. But I didn't like thier $49 a month pricing along with $149 initiation fee. By the way I'm a former fitness trainer for 24 Hour Fitness. So why do I need to be "initiated" ....with some bogus fee?

So I waited... again timing is crucial to buy low and sell high.

In December Planet Fitness (a much cleaner gym than Bally's where I was working out at) came out with a special for $99 for the entire year. I jumped on it and again scored a great deal.

As for selling, here's a short testimonial.

In 2004 when I divorced my ex-wife for cheating on me we sold our home. Of course she just wanted some money and to be done with it. Yet while she lived in a small bedroom at a "friend's" house, I continued living in my six bedroom, four bath home with a swimming pool enjoying myself. I refused to sell at the basement fire sale price my ex-wife proposed. In fact I proposed a sales price of $283,000 (well above the $223,500 price for which I bought the home in 2001).

My ex-wife thought I was crazy and would never sell the home. I waited a few extra months to do so... and why not.... I had a nice place to live! :o)

So when I pocketed an extra $40,000 above and beyond what the ex expected, I was happy to say hasta la vista to the foolish former spouse. Today I am married to a former Canadian model who is smarter, cooks better, cleans the house more, is better looking and has a great business mind.

I got double for my trouble because I was willing to get rid of the old to make room for the new. I knew the secret of buying low and selling high, as well as the blessing of proper timing in all things.

Identity Theft Speaker: Identity Theft Protection

PROTECT YOURSELF AND SECURE YOUR IDENTITY - Click Here!

- Nearly 85% of all victims find out about their identity theft case in a negative manner. Only 15% of victims find out due to a proactive action taken by a business.

· The average time spent by victims is about 600 hours, an increase of more than 300% over previous studies.

· While victims are finding out about their cases earlier, it is taking far longer now than before to eliminate negative information from credit reports.

· A large majority of respondents indicates the opening of a credit card (73%) or takeover of a card account (27%) to be among crimes committed.

· The emotional impact of identity theft has been found to parallel that of victims of violent crime.

· The responsiveness toward victims by the various entities with which they must interact continues to be lacking in sensitivity in most cases and has not improved since studies released in 2000 (Nowhere to Turn).

On December 14, 2004, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) released a study on phishing and account-takeover including information about fraudulent automated clearing house (ACH) payments.

Key FDIC findings include:

· While precise statistics on the prevalence of account hijacking are difficult to obtain, recent studies indicate that unauthorized access to checking accounts is the fastest growing form of identity theft.

· Another recent study has estimated that almost 2 million U.S. adult Internet users experienced this fraud during the 12 months ending April 2004. Of those, 70 percent do their banking or pay their bills online and over half believed they received a phishing e-mail.

· Consumers are attributing risk to their use of the Internet to conduct financial transactions, and many experts believe that electronic fraud, especially account hijacking, will have the effect of slowing the growth of online banking and commerce.

· Up to 5 percent of the recipients of spoofed e-mails respond to them.

· An estimated 19 percent of “those attacked” have clicked on the link in a phishing e-mail. Most, if not all, large financial institutions and electronic bill-paying services (such as PayPal) have been hit with phishing attacks.

· Because many phishing attacks originate overseas and because the average life span of a phishing Web site is 2.25 days, the sites are hard to shut down.

Federal Trade Commission Survey - September 2003
On September 3, 2003, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a survey on identity theft. The survey was conducted in March and April of 2003 with a random sample of over 4,000 households. To read the survey, go to

How Many Consumers Are Victims of Identity Theft?
· 27.3 million Americans have been victims of identity theft in the last five years, including 9.91 million people or 4.6% of the population in the last year alone.

· In the past 12 months, 3.23 million consumers or 1.5% of the population discovered that new accounts had been opened, and other frauds such as renting an apartment or home, obtaining medical care or employment, had been committed in their name. 6.6 million experienced their existing accounts compromised by an identity theft. A total of almost 10 million individuals were victims of identity theft.

· 52% of all ID theft victims, approximately 5 million people in the last year, discovered that they were victims of identity theft by monitoring their accounts.
Misuse of Personal Information

· On average, 49% of victims did not know how their information was obtained.

· Another 26% - approximately 2.5 million people - reported that they were alerted to suspicious account activity by companies such as credit card issuers or banks.

· 8% reported that they first learned when they applied for credit and were turned down.

· 15% of all victims - almost 1.5 million people in the last year - reported that their personal information was misused in nonfinancial ways, to obtain government documents, for example, or on tax forms.

· 67% of identity theft victims - more than 6.5 million victims in the last year - report that existing credit card accounts were misused.

· 19% reported that checking or savings accounts were misused.

· Nearly one-quarter of all victims - roughly 2.5 million people in the last year - said their information was lost or stolen, including lost or stolen credit cards, checkbooks or social security cards.

· Stolen mail was the source of information for identity thieves in 4 percent of all victims - 400,000 in the last year.

Costs to Businesses and Consumers

· Last year's identity theft losses to businesses and financial institutions totaled $47.6 billion and consumer victims reported $5 billion in out-of-pocket expenses.

· In those cases, the loss to businesses and financial institutions was $10,200 per victim totaling $32.9 billion. Individual victims lost an average of $1,180 for a total of $3.8 billion.

· Where the thieves solely used a victim's established accounts, the loss to businesses was $2,100 per victim totaling $14.0 billion. For all forms of identity theft, the loss to business was $4,800 and the loss to consumers was $500, on average.

Gartner Survey - July 2003

On July 21, 2003, Gartner (www.gartner.com) released the results of a survey of 2,445 households regarding identity theft. To read the press release, go to:

The survey found the following:

· Identity theft is up nearly 80 percent from last year.

· 7 million U.S. adults or 3.4 percent of U.S. consumers were identity theft victims in the past 12 months.

· Because this crime is often misclassified, the thieves have just a one in 700 chance of being caught by the federal authorities.

Privacy & American Business Survey - July 2003

A July 30, 2003, Privacy & American Business survey found the following.

How Many Consumers Are Victims of Identity Theft?

· 33.4 million Americans were victims of identity theft since 1990.

· Over 13 million Americans have become victims of identity theft since January 2001.

· Consumer out-of-pocket expenses have totaled $1.5 billion annually since January 2001.

· 34% say someone obtained their credit card information, forged a credit card in their name, and used it to make purchases.

· 12% say someone stole or obtained improperly a paper or computer record with their personal information on it and used that to forge their identity.

· 11% say someone stole their wallet or purse and used their identity.

· 10% say someone opened charge accounts in stores in their name and made purchases as them.

· 7% say someone opened a bank account in their name or forged checks and obtained money from their account.

· 7% say someone got to their mail or mailbox and used information there to steal their identity.

· 5% say they lost their wallet or purse and someone used their identity.

· 4% say someone went to a public record and used information there to steal their identity.

· 3% say someone created false IDs and posed as them to get government benefits or payments.

· 16% say it was a friend, relative or co-worker who stole their identity.

· The seven million victims the survey identified in 2002 represent an 81% rise over victims in 2001.

· Identity theft incidents reported so far in 2003 suggest a major rise over 2002. The victims level and upward trend parallel findings of a Gartner survey released last week.

Demon Possession among Christians? Can Christians be Demon Possessed?

It never ceases to amaze me how many Christians write me claiming they are demon possessed. Perhaps they are oppressed, but rarely do I believe they are possessed.

If you have given your heart to Christ and received the Holy Spirit to live and abide in you, possession by demons is nearly impossible unless you depart from Christ and open the door to demonic attack by reason of your disobedience.

Yet when you are being afflicted and tormented by demons, what difference does it make if the demons are in you or on you? You just want freedom and peace.

To that I say to all Christians, renew your mind with God's Word and attend church regularly.

Where do you go to church? Like people, like priest (Hosea 4:9). God's people are destroyed by lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6) since most prefer watching TV over reading the Bible. Hence they remain ignorant, bound and inwardly bruised.

If you are unwilling to read the Bible and attend church regularly, my prayers will only temporarily remove your demons. You must find your spiritual authority in Christ and fight the fight of faith yourself.

Since most people struggling in this manner are obviously too lazy to invest in their spiritual well being daily and prefer to "be prayed for" I allow them to receive prayer at church (from me or whoever else is ministering).

But I don't let them eat up my valuable time discussing their devils, woes and sorrows.

In Christ is glory with fullness of joy!

Live in the Spirit! That means don't just visit the Spirit once a week in church.

Yet lazy believers abound in this self-centered and entertainment mesmerized generation.

Moses had a similar problem with the children of Israel who did not want to go to the mountain to be with God. They said to Moses, "You go talk to God and tell us what He says."

For such lazy people wanting counseling and divine insight without a personal price, I offer life coaching sessions for a fee, which most can't afford as my time is valuable.

If people are too lazy to read the Bible and spend time with God in prayer, why should I allow them to waste my time?

If you want to grow in God and get free from your demons read the Bible. If the Bible alone isn't sufficient for your entertainment addiction, read my book "Waves of God" and watch my videos to strengthen your faith.

Eventually I hope you can reconnect with Christ and become a mature believer able to stand on your own two feet.

Heisman Trophy Caliber College Athletes w Class Uphold their Teammates and Honor God.

Team spirit and being a good sport when losing shows a lot of class (or the lack thereof), quickly revealing a college athlete's character.

Upon losing the heartbreaking SEC championship, former Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow said, "Alabama is a great University and their team is a class act." congratulating them after the victory. Tebow said "Their offense, defense and special teams beat us in every aspect of the game."

When Heisman trophy contender and running back for Alabama Mark Ingram was interviewed after beating the Gators in the SEC championship he began by giving glory and thanks to God.

Many less than classy athletes talk trash before and after games forgetting their teammates. The offensive line block and do all the dirty work so quarterbacks and running backs can score. It is only right to honor and recognize them. After all it is a team effort to win ball games.

Showing class as a college athlete will serve you well long after you finish playing college sports.

In the previous year's SEC championship, Tebow and Alabama's defense had some heated exchanges. At one point a year prior as the Gators were taking the lead, Tebow when being provoked by some Alabama defensive players gave them the Gator jaws slapping his arms and hands together in emotional exuberance.

A couple of Alabama's defensive players in tonight's 2009 SEC championship obviously remembered and began mocking Tebow doing the Gator jaws slapping of their arms and hands.

Life is a lot like that. People don't easily forget. So it pays and serves you over the long run to show some class, respect others and honor the dignity of others.

Alabama in the 4th quarter at Florida's 10 yard line with over 1 minute remaining in the game, easily could have scored another touchdown (as Florida's defense was dead tired and being demolished). Yet Alabama's coach opted to run out the clock (unusual for college football when rankings are based often on scoring) and allow the Gators to save some face and not be further humiliated in the midst of a sizeable defeat already.

As a result Tebow commented on the class of Alabama's University and football team.

Truly what you sow, eventually you assuredly will reap.

Walk humbly and circumspectly, honoring God and the dignity of humanity.

Tim Tebow John 16:33 Florida Gators vs. Alabama SEC Championship

With Carlos Dunlap suspended from the team due to DUI charges days before the SEC championship, Florida Gator quarterback and all-American Tim Tebow wore the Bible Scripture John 16:33 on his face which reads:

Jesus said, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you might have peace. In the would you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Carlos Dunlap Florida Gators Defensive End DUI and Suspension Before SEC Championship

Days before the Florida Gators SEC and potentially national championship, their star defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested by Gainesville police at 3:58am for drunk driving.

Carlos Dunlap was arrested early this morning and booked in Alachua County jail on a DUI charge.

Florida coach Urban Meyer suspended Dunlap for Saturday's game in Atlanta. Meyer said after Tuesday night's practice that Dunlap had made "a very poor decision."

"I have not spoke to him or his family yet. ... He's not going to play. But I want to visit with him and his family first and go from there,'' Meyer said. "We've had distractiom after distraction (this season). This is a very serious one, obviously, so ... it is a distraction. But sometimes this team has found ways to get a little tighter in distractions and we have had a few of them this year."

It hurts the Florida Gators because Alabama's first two drives of the football game (in progress at this writing) put an immediate 9 points on the scoreboard.

Yet I respect coach Urban Meyer for commanding his ball players and leading them in life, suspending such harmful and hazardous behavior, while doing what is best for human life over a football game.

Although it hurts to see the Gators struggling on defense because of the suspension, I'd rather see the Gators lose a game than somebody lose a life because of drunk driving by a college football player.

Whether or not Dunlap is the NFL's number 3 choice in the draft and an All-American, driving drunk is a bad decision and the timing is horrendous.

I pray Dunlap and his family can overcome this.

I lost my mom to drunk driving and was nearly killed by a drunk driver in 2008.

Christmas Minus the Mess of Merchandise, Excessive Accumulation and Media Mesmerization

Christmas minus the mess

Is most glorious

Christ without merchandise

Is elegant and nice

Excessive shopping

Going here, there, and everywhere

Frantically looking and buying

Certainly this rat race

Has nothing to do

With seeking God's face

Neither adoring the Lord

Nor entering His loving embrace

On the contrary

It comes with a bit of distaste

As it drives you furiously

To go with the flow

Be like everyone else

Buy lest someone cry

Yet one thing you've not detected

The most important Person you've neglected

Christmas is about Christ

Have came from heaven to earth

Giving us his life

That we here below

May experience newness of life

Not that we'd consumed by black Friday

Holiday preparations and strife

Worried when finances are tight

Maxed out on credit cards

Borrowing beyond our means

Such things do demean

The very thing for which Christ died

Perhaps we need to reevaluate

And examine our hearts inside

Lest our foot soon slide

And we be overtaken by our sins

Christ came to empower us to win

Victory comes through Christ the King

By His Spirit He makes you to sing

Christ the Lord

Is fun and never bored

The Spirit of Christ

Moves you Godward

Cleanses your heart

From being froward

Baby Jesus was crucified

Nevertheless conquering disappointment

Christ rose from the grave

His life the greatest gift He gave

His sacrifice for souls to save

Christ rose again on the 3rd day

Now than what will you say?

With this Immanuel what will you do

The King of kings and Prince of peace

Who wholeheartedly died for you?

Tiger Woods, Testosterone, Cheating and Winning Golf Championships

Some speculated after Tiger Woods lost the World Gold Championship that the tiger's testerone levels were down. Understandably so as he had been spending a lot of time with his pregnant wife Elin and their two-year-old daughter. Furthermore in February Elin gave birth to a son.

Certainly one could surmise that all of this downtime on the homefront could deplete and diminish a man's testosterone ...or leave him feeling like a tiger in a cage ready to go conquer something (a golf tournament) or someone (a new lover). Let's face it men are hunters and fishermen.

Perhaps hanging around his wife Elin and the babies took away Tiger's competitive edge a bit as the seratonin and estrogen rubbing off on him led to lower testosterone levels.

It's often mentioned that fathers experience lower testosterone levels following a baby’s birth. It's testosterone that makes men have such a competitive drive and sexual prowess. Excessive steroid use therefore can make guys edgy and aggressive, hindering their focus driving them over the cliff.

Conversely lower testosterone levels make a man less aggressive, less driven and diminishes competitiveness.

Undoubtedly a man's libido is tightly linked to his success in life. Hence kings of old left the eunuchs in charge of the treasury knowing that they had little testosterone and hormonal drive to feed their ego and libido.

The reverse is true with men with raging hormones and healthy testosterone. There is a drive to achieve and be sexually virile.

Tiger made a strong comeback in the latter part of the year winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Memorial Tournament, WGB-Bridgestone Invitational, BMW Championship and the 2009 Presidents Cup.

As much as we might not like to admit it, quite possibly all of Tiger's womanizing helped resurrect his libido and competitive edge.

It's a known fact after the birth of newborns mothers spend much of their focus on the children and the man often feels less than a king in his own castle.

Simply said it's hard to play ball well without balls of your own. Moreover it's a bit difficult to possess the drive to hit a homerun in the boardroom if you can't hit a homerun first in the bedroom.

A woman can make or break a man by feeding and nurturing his sexuality. Alternatively ignoring a man's sexual needs can frustrate him, making him feel like less of a man. Eventually this could lead to the tiger stalking other prey and pursuing other sexual exploits to regain his feeling of masculinity.

By no means does any of this justify or condone adulterous behavior. Certainly manhood is moreso found in keeping your vows of matrimony, conquering the ravenous tiger within, possessing self-control, loving and serving your family ...and everything else a respectable man would be known for in society.

Yet it is wise, noteworthy and advantageous for men and women to understand the physical and emotional makeup of men and how we work. Like it or not, men are sexually wired and wild... which means we require a good woman in our lives to nurture our sexuality.

God the Creator of mankind said, "It is not good for man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18).

A divine connection with the Creator and an inward empowering from the Holy Spirit will help a man harness his flesh (see Romans 8:13; Zechariah 4:6). Otherwise he will self-destruct and be overtaken by his bodily appetites.

Tiger did not even attend his own signature golf tournament he was scheduled to host when his marital struggles surfaced. So truly one's private life affects public performance.

Self-mastery and accuracy on the golf course is one thing. Mastering one's sexuality and manhood in marriage and fatherhood is another.

The Masters champ is growing into true manhood, but embracing and succeeding as a husband and father will take a whole new level of self-mastery.

To all the men of the world trying to tame the tiger within (including myself), I wish you Godspeed and spiritual empowerment to succeed.
